Chapter 1 - New Beginnings

Galactic Log Entry, Stardate: 4620-01-01

As I docked at the intergalactic hub of Arth, my trusty vessel, the ISS Optiplex, awaited me with its single engine freighter and ATV explorer. Equipped with maximum cargo capacity and a few tweaks to get it running smoothly, this ship was ready for adventure.

Stardate: 4620-01-02

I've logged the atmospheric readings of the oxygen-co2 planet in our home system - an icy world that might just yield some valuable resources. Fingers crossed!

Galactic Log Entry, Stardate: 4620-01-20

Now mining on a nearby asteroid in our home system, I'm finding it to be a rather uneventful experience. The calm weather is almost... too peaceful? My goal remains the same - fill my cargo hold with minerals and sell them off to upgrade my equipment, specifically that mineral scanner.

Stardate: 4620-01-02

One day into mining on this planet, I stumbled upon a strange phenomenon known as the "Flat Device." It teleported my ship! Not exactly thrilled about it. The ATV explorer took an unexpected dip underwater - pontoons will be in order soon enough. But first things first, that mineral scanner takes priority.

Stardate: 4620-01-03

After two days of mining, I've managed to fill my cargo hold with a decent haul of Antimony, Copper, Silver, and Platinum. Not bad for a beginner! My observations so far suggest forests are good hunting grounds for richer minerals, while mountains provide the best surface bounty and areas for digging. Plains are always hit-or-miss - random, but fun nonetheless.

Galactic Log Entry

I still can't scan this planet I'm on. The weather is just too calm... almost unnatural?

Galactic Log Entry, Stardate: 4620-01-04

Arth postings have alerted me to an imminent threat from our unstable sun. Radiation flares are expected to scorch the system, potentially wiping out all life. Colonization efforts will intensify as a result, and I'll capitalize on this opportunity by securing lucrative contracts for my services.

My recommendation for the third planet in the system has been vindicated, earning me a substantial reward. Other ship postings report sightings of rogue Androids 20 sectors coreward from here. When my ship is fully rigged, I'll investigate these anomalies to uncover their intentions.

I've discovered that my vessel is equipped with a flare meter, which detects impending solar flares. This will allow me to avoid the system during critical periods and ensure my survival.

The Whining Orb in my cargo hold remains an enigma; its purpose eludes me, but it makes for an intriguing knickknack on my ship's dash.

Stardate: 4620-01-07

I've spent nearly four days mining the first planet. My ATV explorer has been busy scouring the surface, and I've struck paydirt with a bounty of overground minerals. The past two days have been grueling, as I navigated treacherous terrain to gather more resources.

My findings suggest that east and south regions are prime for mineral hunting, while areas north and west yield little or no valuable materials. Two excursions yielded disappointing results, but my perseverance paid off in the end.

A close call occurred when I spent too long trudging through water; I narrowly avoided a catastrophic outcome. The ATV's underwater endurance is still unknown to me.

With sufficient funds secured, I've acquired a mineral scanner and equipped my ATV with pontoons for future expeditions. My science training has reached its maximum potential, allowing me to unlock new insights by scanning the innermost planet upon arrival.

Update

I've invested in my mineral scanner and upgraded my ATV's capabilities. With my skills maxed out in science training, I'm poised to uncover hidden secrets on the next planet I visit. The universe holds many mysteries; it's time for me to unravel them.

Galactic Log Entry, Stardate: 4620-01-09

I've been orbiting Arth for too long; it's time to venture forth and explore the cosmos! I recently landed on the innermost planet, where my new mineral scanner proved its worth. The scan revealed a platinum-rich mountain range just west of my landing site. With this bounty secured, I won't have to worry about mineral hunting anytime soon.

As I prepared to depart, I realized that this "rock mudball" is actually a scorching hot world with temperatures soaring above 1,000 degrees Celsius and gravity at an impressive .3Gs. The composition of helium and hydrogen makes it more like a giant fireball in space than a terrestrial planet. My next stop will be the other planets to search for even greater mineral riches.

Signing off

Galactic Log Entry, Stardate: 4620-01-10

I've decided to investigate the oxygen-rich ice planet I logged earlier. Scans indicate temperate regions and life forms beneath the surface. I'll collect some specimens for further study and sale back at Arth.

Update

As I descended onto this unforgiving world, I underestimated its gravity (1.6Gs) and had to engage my ground thrusters to avoid a catastrophic landing. The strong winds during descent hinted at turbulence; indeed, the planet's surface proved treacherous. My ship drifted off course due to the rough landing.

Update

While investigating these ancient ruins, I stumbled upon life forms! Further exploration revealed nothing of value within the structures themselves. However, an earthquake forced me to retreat back to my ship via the Flat Device, using up all my fuel in the process.

Update

The ruins stretch as far as the eye can see, but they're largely empty and half-abandoned. I've had to teleport back to my ship multiple times due to earthquakes; it's become a regular occurrence on this unforgiving world. Next, I'll investigate further eastward ruins while continuing to mine for resources.

Update

The winds howled like a chorus of banshees as the planet shook beneath me. Despite the challenges, I found myself surrounded by civilization – albeit ancient and long-abandoned – with wildlife roaming freely. What more could an explorer ask for? Perhaps some hidden treasure within those ruins... Alas, my investigation turned up empty-handed. Time to return to port and sell my booty.

Signing off once again!

Galactic Log Entry, Stardate: 5620-01-17:21

I'm departing this system, bound for the next one. My starmap indicates four nearby systems worth exploring before I investigate those enigmatic Androids. However, I have a pressing matter to attend to closer to home.

Update

This system is quite peculiar - it features two magma worlds and a third planet with an astonishing 14.5G gravitational pull. The star itself has a whopping 16.6Gs of gravity! It's as if the planets are in a gravitational dance, defying conventional celestial mechanics.

Update

Back at home base, my sensors indicate that our system is due for a flare-up in approximately 282 days. Time is ticking!

New Developments

Galactic Log Entry, Stardate: 5620-01-18

I've stumbled upon some intriguing flux locations in the message directory. On my way back to Arth, I caught a glimpse of one such flux - maybe later, perhaps not.

Update

To prepare for my journey ahead, I've acquired an Android named Max and assigned him to engineering duties on my ship. Quaint, indeed! With upgraded shields, armor, and engines, I'll be exploring the neighboring systems shortly before taking on those enigmatic Androids to the east.

Exploration

Galactic Log Entry, Stardate: 5620-01-18:20

My first stop was a dud - no planets in sight!

Update

While navigating through a continuum flux by accident, I stumbled upon an area with multiple stars and other fluxes. Sensors detected an object outside my ship; investigating revealed it to be a lifeform communicating without transmitting any signals! Their message spoke of space, crystals, comedy, and history - but beyond that...

Update

After warping back out from the flux, I entered the intended star system only to encounter more objects: ships! When hailed, we were greeted by a slimy blob with weird satellites in its antennae; it communicated in an unintelligible manner. I cut comms and warped out as quickly as possible.

More Mysteries

Update

This system has some bizarre properties - the star's gravity is weaker than one of the orbiting gas giants! In fact, that gas giant has more mass than the star itself. How can a gas giant not be a star with planets in orbit? Maybe it just worked out this way and will change due to gravitational waves in the future.

Update

I logged two planets: one in this system and another in the neighboring system. A ship was present around that star, but when hailed, we received some weird gibberish onscreen. I decided to simply warp out - the galaxy is more crowded than I thought!

Next Steps

I intend to explore three nearby star systems before depositing my loot at Arth for upgrades and then taking on those Androids...

Galactic Log Entry, Stardate: 4620-01-21:23

I've returned to Starport with a mere 1.2 units of fuel left in the tank - talk about cutting it close! But my efforts have paid off; all three planets I scouted for colonization were deemed suitable, and I've been rewarded accordingly.

Spoils of War

With my spoils mostly consisting of Tin and some Rhodnium on the side, I'm looking to upgrade my ship with the best engines, shields, and armor that Starport has to offer. While I'm at it, I'll also be getting myself skilled up with the top-notch training programs available.

Preparations for Battle

To anticipate any potential hostilities, I've equipped my ship with twin bomb launchers - affectionately known as Buzz Bombs. With this arsenal and a half-full cargo hold of fuel, I'm confident that I'll be well-equipped to take on those enigmatic Androids... at least, I hope so!

New Knowledge and Companionship

In the meantime, my mind is buzzing with new knowledge, and I've acquired an Android companion named Max to keep me company. It's been a wild ride, but I'm ready for whatever lies ahead.

Wish me luck - I'll surely need it!
