11 The Troublemaker

From the moment Eden got home, he started to work. There wasn’t much time to prepare everything, two days, but he knew the main tasks had to be tackled first. He booted up his laptop and began his meticulous planning. Originally, he intended to create several guides about Ahartohaim, but with time running short, priorities shifted.

Eden focused on developing a comprehensive Trading Plan for companies that would become trading hubs, purchasing items from players and reselling them to industries in need. He identified potions, clothing materials, ores, and crystals as high-demand commodities, each requiring evaluation and market establishment.

Eden anticipated a surge in demand once people realized the quality and utility of items brought back from Ahartohaim. To facilitate this, a value system was essential. His Trading Plan, based on how the things happened in the past, included such a system and carried a hefty price tag of 20 million credits. It detailed various items from Ahartohaim, including their condition, rarity, in-game value, and potential real-world applications.

While the information Eden offered was worth far more than his asking price, the challenge lay in its credibility and time of release. At present, it was difficult to verify, and even post-launch it would take weeks or maybe months, depending on the information gathered by the companies, to substantiate. By then, it might be too late for Eden to capitalize on the opportunity as information about the items found in Ahartohaim will become much more in hand and the bright minds could think for themselves about solutions.

Once the information about the items will become accessible enough for the companies to get a glimpse of the immediate future, and people will have experienced the possibilities, competitors taking note of others getting ahead, Eden planned to drop the price of his guide by 10 million credits to increase his sells. That was the strategy he has decided to adopt for selling to the big guys.

But there was another market, opposite to the corporations and big companies, that was worth his attention, the regular players. And even though Eden was sure that other beta testers will compete with him for a piece of the market, Eden was sure that he could make a fortune as the quality of his product was superior even to those of the military guys testing the game for months.

So, the guide destined for the players, would be split into two versions: a simplified, cheaper one for casual players worth 25 Credits, and a complete, detailed version for pro players and gaming workshops worth 250 Credits. Time was of the essence as Eden had to be one of the first in the market to gather the attention of the masses.

As always, Beta Testers could earn money and recognition in more then one way. Those with connections would get paid by guilds and companies to share their insights or even join their ranks, but Eden didn't have these connections. And even though he knew more then anyone else, who would believe him once he went public? After all, in the eyes of everyone else, he was a Beta Tester with only two days of experience in Ahartohaim.

However, Eden wasn't discouraged by his predicament. Instead, he was confident that his guides were superior to all types of information anyone could share. He just needed an opening in the online world, a realm where one could make a fortune while remaining anonymous. And the online adds and Ahartohaim forums happened to be just the perfect way to make his work known to the public.

As for the premium guide destined to the corporations and companies, Eden was sure that adds weren't enough, so he hired a team to create a professional site for him to display the product. A site that was also connected to his newly created e-mail to facilitate communication.

The next morning, Eden's two guides aimed at the players appeared on Ahartohaim's forums. While other guides were already available, he believed the quality of his work would speak for itself. Word of mouth would become his best marketing tool. Not to mention that he drained his savings, investing almost everything in online adds.

Eden wanted to make money, so with his remaining credits, he hired translators to convert his courses into the five most-used languages—Chinese, French, German, Spanish, and Russian—and posted them on the respective forums. A small investment of money and work for potentially significant returns.

Despite his exhaustion, Eden attended school, downing a cup of coffee to remain awake. A drug that he rarely ingested. However, the boring lessons served as his lullaby, allowing him to catch some well needed rest.

In a break, knowing that he couldn’t post the Trading Plan online and wait for buyers to come as he did with player guides, Eden emailed a sample of the plan to Cole, whose father’s business could benefit from opening trading shops. Without corporate connections, this was Eden's best first shot.

After the first class, Eden set to check on his trading guide’s online page, emailing snippets to trading companies he had collaborated with in his previous life. Someone would have to buy his guides, and with enough funds for promotional videos, the world would soon know about his Trading Plan. Using a pseudonym and watermark to maintain anonymity, Eden avoided using his real name, email, or phone number, knowing that revealing his identity was a big mistake.

“Class, may I have your attention?” Mia’s voice echoed in the lecture hall before anyone could leave.

“Of course, class rep. We’re listening,” a boy said, taking a seat on one of the desks. The rest gathered around, waiting for Mia to speak.

“Alright. The headmaster announced that next Friday, our city will host a party at Moon Blanco with many important figures attending. Until then, Jaqueline Academy and others will hold an internal martial arts competition, giving students a chance to participate to that event,” Mia explained.

As she paused, whispers and chuckles arose from the back of the group.

“I asked for your attention. This concerns your future. I won’t repeat myself,” Mia warned.

“We’re listening, Mia. Don’t worry,” a boy at the back assured, continuing his conversation with his friend.

“Arman, if you ask her later to explain, as you always do, I’ll teach you what your parents didn’t. Something called respect,” Eden said, lazily appearing beside Mia. He was tired and not in the best mood of his life.

“What do you want, Eden?” Arman retorted. “You slept through two courses and now you’ve woken up to teach others about respect?”

The class laughed, but Eden remained unfazed.

“I just warned you,” he replied seriously, then turned to Mia, signaling her to continue.

“Alright, as I was saying, this is a chance for those skilled in fighting. Our academy has ten slots for students without invitations to the event. To participate in the competition, you need to…”

After the briefing, Eden stayed behind in the class to continue working on his projects. Within three hours, when he checked his notifications again after class, his efforts paid off, earning him a total of 2,075 credits. A sum that many people earned after a month of hard work.

Feeling a surge of inner joy, Eden stretched his body and decided to get some fresh air. Spotting Mia still in the class, he approached her, eager to share his happiness.

“Mia, my favorite class rep, let’s go outside. Fresh air after a course is always good,” he said, sitting next to her.

“I’m busy. You stayed in all day, so go out by yourself,” Mia replied, turning away.

Eden placed a hand on her back. “Come with me, i'm not confident in walking alone,” he joked.

Mia tensed momentarily at his touch but quickly shrugged it off.

“Shy as always,” Eden remarked, retracting his hand. He was about to leave, but remembered something. “By the way, has Arman asked you about the competition?”

Mia tried to appear nonchalant. “No,” she replied.

“Lying isn’t your forte,” Eden said, sitting back down. “Were you talking to him just now?” He pointed at her phone.

Mia clutched the phone tightly to her chest, fearing Eden might snatch it. “What I do is none of your business,” she retorted.

Eden raised an eyebrow, then hugged her and whispered, “If you want to do extra work for people who don’t respect you, that’s your problem. But I promised to teach him a lesson, and I tend to keep my promises. Show me your conversation with him.”

“No.” Mia tightened her grip on the phone.

Eden placed his hand on her leg, pulling her closer before kissing her cheek.

“Leave me alone, I have a boyfriend,” Mia protested, struggling to push him away.

“Yeah, and i am the prince of Costaluna," Eden said with sarcasm. "Show me your conversation with Arman.”

Mia gave him a serious gaze. “What i do is none of your business."

"Mia?" Eden stared back at her.

"You promise you won’t fight with him?” Mia asked.

“I promise I’ll just teach him a lesson,” Eden assured, releasing her.

Mia opened her phone and showed Eden her conversation with Arman. As expected, Arman had asked her to repeat what he hadn’t understood earlier the day.

“See? Sometimes you can actually be a good girl,” Eden said, getting up and heading for the door.

“I’m coming with you,” Mia said, following him.

Eden stopped. “No, you’re not. You’ll either cry on the sidelines or interfere with what I’m doing. Trust me, you don’t need this stress.”

“I’m coming as well,” Mia insisted.

“Mhhh,” Eden growled. He grabbed her waist, effortlessly lifting her onto the nearest desk.

Mia’s breath caught in her throat, her heart racing with fear as she struggled to free herself. Eden brushed his nose against her neck but retreated when he sensed her tension.

“Has your boyfriend never touched you?” he asked calmly, his blue eyes meeting her trembling brown ones. He waited patiently for an answer.

After a few seconds, Mia slowly shook her head.

“Fool,” Eden muttered, kissing her forehead. He caressed her face gently. “Stay here, please.”

Eden moved to the door, leaving Mia frozen on the desk.

'So you can be gentle sometimes,' Zizi’s voice echoed in Eden’s head.

“You were mad at me; why are you talking now?”

'Do you want me to stay silent for a few more days?' Zizi retorted sharply.

“I like hearing your voice, but you’re free to do as you wish,” Eden said, scanning the courtyard for Arman.

“I’ll forgive you this time,” Zizi replied softly.

The academy’s courtyard was large, but Eden knew where Arman and his friends usually hung out, making it easy to find him.

“Hey, Eden,” a feminine voice called out.

Eden turned to see two attractive girls approaching.

“Layla, what a pleasure,” he said, opening his arms for a hug.

“Hi, troublemaker.” Layla allowed Eden to hug her, placing a sweet kiss on his neck.

“Have you come to brighten my day?” Eden asked, inhaling her scent.

“I always will, but I want to introduce you to someone,” Layla said, bringing her friend forward. “This is Alice, my good friend. Alice, this is Eden, the guy I was telling you about.”

“Nice to meet you,” Alice said, extending her hand.

“Always an honor to meet such a beautiful girl, Alice,” Eden said with a smile that hinted at hidden meanings. He could tell she was interested in him.

“Ahem,” Layla interrupted, feeling left out. “Eden, are you free this afternoon to hang out with us?”

“Not today,” Eden replied. “Layla, send me Alice’s number, and I’ll call you both tomorrow, okay? I’m pressed for time right now and need to have a discussion with someone, so please excuse me.” He smiled once more before turning and leaving.

"Too busy to talk with the girls?" Layla asked. "That's new for you."

"If its just talking, i have to leave it for later," Eden shouted back.

“Come on, let’s enjoy the show.” Layla dragged Alice along to follow Eden.
