"Dad, can I go outside today?"
He looks at me, surprised. This is the first time I've asked to go outside, actually..
"Uhh, sure. Do you want me or your mother to come with you?"
"No, I'll be fine on my own."
"Okay..", he says hesitantly, "What brought this on, though?"
"My adventurous phase has begun!", I say, while smiling.
"Hah, alright, go get dressed nicely, you'll want to give the girls a good first impression!"
"Yes, sir!", I say and start running to my room.
Outside in another world.. I hope it at least looks good out there.
Again - Chapter Four
"I'll be back soon!"
"Don't go out too far!", Mom says with a worried expression.
I turn around and start heading out towards the wheat fields.
This village is actually pretty big, but most of the land is just for farming.
There's a nice breeze every now and then, the only sounds you can hear in the fields are those of birds or the trees.
There are a few farmers here and there, either relaxing, just walking around or chatting.
I see some kids having fun and playing with each other, elders having talks, the men dueling for fun and the women watching with excitement.
It's peaceful here. Nature isn't untouched, but it hasn't been ruined, it blends together with people, making a beautiful view.
I stray off the path a bit, going towards the forest.
You don't see animals here that often, but the fauna is amazing.
Huge trees, berry bushes, mushrooms, grass as green as it can get.
I start heading more uphill, to get a nice view of everything.
The sun is slowly starting to set, the clouds are starting have a mix of orange in them.
I reach the end of the hill, and look at the huge fields with fascination.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
It's just incredible, a sight I'd die to see in my past life.
The land is covered in a golden yellow, a path cuts through, accompanied by lush greenery, heading towards the grand, snow-capped mountains that are partly covering the sun, with a flock of birds flying in their direction.
It's a divine view, one that should never be touched.
I see a faint, orange light to my left, one resembling the light of the sun.
Out of curiosity, I walk towards it.
After walking through a few bushes, I see a fire, obviously lit by a human, next to it is a person, pretty small, in a hood, sitting and looking at the sun.
I stop for a moment, before calling out to them.
"Hello?"
They jumped as soon as they heard me, but quickly turned around and stood up.
They're a girl..?
"Uhm, sorry, you gave me a bit of a scare..", she says while taking her hood off.
It is a girl.. and a beautiful one, too!
She's got amazing, short, smooth black hair, light blue eyes, and a fascinating, neutral face!
"Oh, didn't mean to, I'm sorry.", I say, while a bit nervous.
"It's okay. It's weird to see a kid out here, though."
"I mean.. you're a kid too, how old are you?"
"I'm turning six pretty soon."
Around my age.. except not.
"What about you?"
"Ah, me too, around there.", I struggle to look her in the eyes while saying that.
"I see, what's your name?"
"Ken Lenhit, what's yours?"
"Elizabeth Vells, I prefer Liz, though."
"So.. what were you doing out here?"
"Just enjoying the view, I guess."
Ah.. I get it, I do.
I look at the lit fire beside her.
"How'd you light that?", I point to it.
"Oh, I just.. used magic."
What? I'm not special?
"Magic, huh.. that's nice."
"Well, I can only do this one fire spell, so it's not much."
"When did you learn that?"
"My mother taught me, since I was curious."
Hm..
"How many of those can you do before you get tired?"
"Tired? Uh.. I don't really get tired."
Now hold on just a minute..
"What's the spell called?"
"Just fireball."
Seriously?
I mean, sure, fireball is a beginner spell, but even so, there's no way a child wouldn't get tired after even just a few uses.
"Can you.. try doing it as many times as possible?"
"Right now?"
"Yeah."
..
Eighteen!
She did it eighteen times, and still didn't get tired!
This really isn't normal..
"Say.. do you practice that to improve your mana storage?"
"I don't really know what that means."
I'm being embarrassed..
"Are your parents perhaps really good at magic?"
"My mother is, I don't know about my father."
..
Screw you, genetics!
"So.. do you really not know any other spells?"
"None."
What a waste of talent..
"Don't you have any books about magic at home?"
"We do, but I haven't read them."
"Why?! Aren't you interested in magic?", I asked desperately.
"W-Well.. I can't read, obviously."
Oh.. right. She's not even six years old.
"I see.. then, do you want me to be your teacher? I'm pretty good at beginner magic myself.", I said, with a proud expression.
"I mean.. if you don't mind."
Oho.. it's secured! Teaching a cute girl magic..
Ahem.
"Alright, then! Want to meet here tomorrow morning?"
"Sure."
The sun's pretty much nowhere to be seen now, the moon has taken over.
"It's pretty dark now, can you get home safe?", I ask.
"Yeah, don't worry."
"Okay, see you tomorrow, then!"
"You too."
I say goodbye and start going back to the path.
I've got good navigation skills, so I was able to get back pretty easily.
Everything's much more quiet now.
No sounds of people, birds, just wind.
I get back home quickly, but I'm so tired that I could fall asleep at the door.
I opened the door and entered.
"I'm back."
"Oh, welcome back.", Mom says. "So? How was it?", she gives me a soft smile.
"Well, I made a friend. I think."
"That's great, is it a boy or a girl?"
"Girl.", I smiled.
"Oh my. Your father's going to be proud."
"He sure is going to be.. I'll skip dinner, I'm really tired."
"Okay. Goodnight."
Oh man..
I actually got a friend.
And she's cute as hell!
