[Rukh's POV]
Luna looked at me confusingly while I looked at her shockingly.
She was the person with whom my soul intertwined. (Sigh) I really am a magnet for bad luck.
Honestly, it's not like I don't like her, but after our first meeting, I figured out her personality. She was one happy-going girl. You know, the type of girl you see in movies and comics, who is strong, optimistic and gives her best. That was the kind of vibe Luna gave. Compared to her, I was the complete opposite. There were no similarities. That is why I prefer to avoid those types, as I am envious of them.
"Why are you staring at me? Huh? Don't tell me I am your?..." Luna, as shocked as me, asked
"It seems so", I replied exhaustingly.
"No…no…that can't be right…but why? Why me?" she was scared and confused; I could tell from her voice that she was nervous.
"Wait, I…I don't want to vanish…No…No, I finally got a chance...I cannot lose it…N…Never"
This was expected. Of course, she would act like this; who wouldn't? A person given a chance to live again would jump at that opportunity.
But still, looking at her, acting scared and nervous, made me feel a bit relaxed. Maybe because she finally looked human. A human who is not always perfect, hides her feelings and buries them deep down. In this situation, she faced those feelings again, making me feel I was not the only one suffering from those feelings. I know it's horrible to think that, but in the end, I, too, was a human.
“Don't worry, I won't force you to vanish with me. I am not selfish enough to rob someone of their goal," I told her.
"T..Then you mean you will participate in the trials," she asked, looking at me, still frightened.
"Yes, for now. I have a plan, so don't worry. I won't get in your way," I exclaimed
Luna relaxed a bit after hearing those words.
Then, at last, the Angel spoke.
"I understand your situation is something which I did not expect. However, I shall continue my role."
The Angel continued speaking.
After around Ten minutes, the Angel explained how the trials would be conducted and what kinds of trials we could expect.
So basically, everyone will give different trials with no same trials repeated. There are twenty people here, including me. There are seven gods who will judge us, and they have prepared twenty trials for everyone, which means one trial for one person. The person will have to enter a door to take him to the trial's location, though he won't know which God's trial he will give. He will know that after he reaches the trial area. All twenty people will have to do the same, enter a door and pass the seven trials to be worthy of judgement from the gods.
“And another thing” the angel spoke before finishing
This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it
“Some of you may have noticed feeling weird, let me reveal why that is”
The people who were thinking deeply about the trials now focused on the angel's words
“Every human who is present here has its memories from earth erased.”
Upon hearing those words, the atmosphere became loud, and the participants became frantic and confused. They tried to remember their lives but couldn’t.
I thought so
However, do not fret, as you shall learn your memories as you complete the trials. Once you have finished the last trial, you shall know your entire life you passed on earth as a human.”
“Why? Why did you do that? Why go that far?” Another person with red hair who looked in his mid-teenage years asked the angel
“The reason is simple; it is because you, too, shall judge whether you are worthy of having another life as a human” " the angel responded telepathically.
"Now then, let us begin the trial," said the Angel
With a loud rumble, nineteen doors appeared from beneath the lake. Intricate and complex designs are carved on each door. However, looking closely, one could see a figure carved in the middle of each door. All are positioned differently.
"I guess those figures could be the gods who made the trials."
"I think so too," said Luna with a focused gaze on the doors.
I glanced at her while she continued looking towards the door. I kept looking at her, and a question popped into my mind.
"Luna," I asked seriously while looking at the doors with her.
"Yeah?" She replied, not taking off her eyes from the doors.
"Why do you want to reincarnate?"
“Didn’t you hear the angel’s words? I do not remember,” Luna replied, though her voice sounded a bit off.
“I know that. But like everyone else, you, too, must have a weird feeling inside your heart. Those strong emotions that give you a hint” I stared at her
“Why do you want to know that” she asked me with the same voice as before.
I walked in front of her and looked her in the eye. “Because it might give me a reason to continue the trials.”
Her eyes twitched for a moment. She kept quiet for a few seconds, then turned her head towards the door and again to me. Her eyes looked distant, with a glint of hope.
"Because I feel like I made a promise", she replied in a regretful voice.
"Is that so?" I let out a little smile
"Now, stand in front of the door you wish to enter", said the Angel
Everyone started running confusingly towards the doors, without knowing where it would take them.
We did the same, but there was a problem. We saw Nineteen doors instead of twenty.
"You two will enter the same door and give the same trials." A voice rang in our heads. Nonetheless to say, it was the angel who spoke
"Does that mean that we will give all Seven trials together?" Luna asked the Angel
"You will know that once you pass the first trial", replied the Angel.
Not satisfied with the answer, Luna opened her mouth to ask another question, but the Angel replied
"No more Questions. Stand in front of the door you wish to enter."
Even though the Angel said that, there weren't any doors left to choose from except one.
We walked towards the last door available, and upon reaching there, I saw the carving of the God who would be judging us. A figure sat on a throne with a small crown hovering above his head. The face was smiling, making the God look surprisingly handsome. There were small dust particles on his lower face, which looked like a beard. The God was muscular and strong, and two beautiful women stood on each side of the throne.
Below the carving, there was a small word that read.
"Prema" Luna mouthed
"What does it mean?" I asked
"It means Love," she answered smilingly.
"Love? Is he a god of love or something?" I asked confusingly, staring at the carving
"If he is, then I am looking forward to meeting him" She smiled.
"Well, All the best to that"
"Everyone, hold on to the handle of the door," said the Angels Voice
Everyone did as she said. The door started glowing the moment we touched the Handle.
"Now, you may enter. I give my blessings to all the souls entering the trial. Those who return to the world of the void, do not feel regret, as you have earned my respect and pride just by giving your utmost. Do not feel fear because I shall be there for you and comfort you during your final moments. Afterall, in the end, you all are still my dear children."
"Now, Enter! The gods await you. I shall wait at the end of your journey" With those words, I entered the door with a somewhat feeling of relief and gratitude. I think everyone else felt the same way.
"Let's do this!!" said Luna excitedly.
Both of us stepped into the door, awaiting what stood before us at the end of this door
