Synopsis
Four young people cross over into a world of magic and monsters. But not unprepared; this is what they've been training themselves for. This is the culmination of their wildest hopes and dreams, a chance to sieze real power for themselves and make a future on their own terms. Yet this is no fantasy adventure; it's real, and bloody, and full of dangers. And as always the greatest threat lies in the secret hearts of men...
Note to Readers: This is essentially fan-fiction for my own series Sword of the Bright Lady, which is published by Pyr and available from Amazon or any other reputable book dealer. This is a story I don't think I could ever sell to a publisher but one I wanted to write, and I think the audience here at Royal Road are perhaps the only people who would ever want to read it.
Be aware that the first chapter has some pretty serious spoilers for the series, though after that it diverges into its own story line.
Also note this story, like Sword of the Bright Lady, is only LitRPG adjacent; there are no character sheets or virtual games, but the magic of the world of Prime functions in many ways exactly like a table-top roleplaying game. For instance, people on Prime routinely talk about what class to take for their next level.
If you are interested in how this all works in an RPG I have a ton of free game supplements on DriveThruRPG for D&D 3.5 (just google for Heroes of Prime by MC Planck to get started).
But if you just want to read a story about people going into a game-like world, hop on down below and dive in.
