CHAPTER 203
Luke chuckled as he continued with his story. "As if God answered our prayers, the b*stard didn't take after his mother. Instead, he inherited his father's facial features. When they were standing next to each other, everyone could clearly see they were related."
He then clicked his tongue in disapproval. "Maddie, if only you were there, you would have seen how furious he was."
Feeling happy for him, Madeline waited for Luke to continue sharing the story. "What happened later?"
"Later?" He took a sip of the coffee to clear his throat. "After being embarrassed in front of people, my father left the party in shame and the woman followed after him. Her son's real identity was like a ticking bomb. Once the truth was revealed, there was no way they could survive my father's anger. So, she could never allow my father to find the truth. She had to cover up for her lies and made him believe that the b*stard is his biological son."
"However, your father will no longer believe her," Madeline observed calmly. "She can continue to hide the truth from him if he wasn't suspicious. However, once he starts to suspect things, nothing can hold him back from seeking the truth unless your father is willing to pretend to be clueless for Delilah's sake."
Delilah Xeni was Logan and Luke's stepmother.
She had a beautiful name, and it was said that her beauty was extraordinary. It was just a pity that the more beautiful she was, the more evil she became.
After that, Luke continued from where he left off. "Besides, Logan succeeded in bribing one of my
father's bodyguards. Wait… I'm making an overstatement here to say he was bribed. My mother helped him in the past, so he has been thinking of a way to repay her for her help."
"My father noticed his capabilities and assigned the man to become his personal bodyguard. He has always been on our side and went undercover to wait for an opportunity to get in touch with my brother and me."
"Logan knew that our mother helped him out before, so once we got back to Capitol, Logan got in touch with the guy immediately. He was happy to see Logan, and agreed to help us out without hesitation."
"What about now? Is he still staying with the Adams Family?"
"He is." Luke then elaborated, "Vulcan is an orphan my mother helped before. He's only a few years older than us and now working as the leader of our bodyguard team. Not only is he handsome, but he is capable too. I will introduce you to him one day when you visit Capitol." Luke chuckled as he continued with his story. "As if God answered our prayers, the b*stard didn't take after his mother. Instead, he inherited his father's facial features. When they were standing next to each other, everyone could clearly see they were related."
Madeline let out a sigh of relief.
In most stories, those working undercover didn't have a happy ending. Thank God for keeping him safe. she thought to herself.
As he took another sip of his coffee, Luke resumed his story. "Let's see, where were we? Ah—I am
saying Delilah tried to deceive my father. They had a fight in the living room and made a fuss out of it, in which Vulcan could hear them even though he was waiting outside the room. After the fight, my father seemed persuaded by Delilah because he had asked a favor from his acquaintance. He brought the b*stard with him to the lab and performed another paternity test."
Madeline shared her opinion regarding the matter. "I can tell he wasn't persuaded by Delilah or still having trust in her. He just didn't want to face the truth that he chased his sons away, only to be raising someone else's child."
"I believe so." Luke's lips curled with contempt. "My father was biased toward the b*stard from the very beginning. Fearing the two of us would fight over the b*stard's right to inheritance, he did nothing to save us from Delilah's torment. At last, we had no choice but to escape. And now, he will not have the courage to admit that he mistreated us."
Believing Delilah wouldn't sit still, Madeline took a guess. "Delilah must have tried everything she could to fake the result."
"She did," Luke muttered. "Her efforts were useless, though. My father is not only skeptical about everything, but he has a heart of stone too. Otherwise, he wouldn't watch Delilah torment us without doing anything to stop her. I even heard that before he accepted Delilah and her son into the family, he carried out a paternity test on the b*stard and himself. The result showed that they were related to each other."
"Delilah managed to deceive him back then?"
"Indeed. He was deceived once, so this time, he didn't allow himself to rest before the results came out. We also made a stakeout on Delilah's lackey, so she couldn't find the opportunity to fake the result. At
last, the results stated clearly that the b*stard is not related to my father. "
"They got what they deserve!" Hearing the story, Madeline could feel her spirits lifted.
"My father was furious at learning the truth and he violently whacked her in public that day. Furthermore, he has not stopped making them suffer since that day."
Luke shook his head as if thinking of something funny. "Too bad both my uncle and Logan refrained me from meddling in their infighting, so I've to wait until the end. I wasn't there to see him punish her, but I saw her body."
Luke made a sound to show his detestation, but his eyes shone with excitement. "Delilah died miserably. There were various wounds all over her body caused by any and every object you could think of. Besides, my old man also found some loafers to assault her non-stop, and she had not slept for days."
Thinking about Delilah's terrible death landed Luke in a good mood as he finished the coffee in one gulp. "She struggled for some days until she finally died, but she had it coming."
Madeline was usually softhearted, but after hearing Luke's story, she had decided that Delilah didn't deserve any of her sympathy.
"Everything turned out great," she remarked. "There's no point in dirtying your hands if you can wait for your father and Delilah to fight against each other."
"You said the exact same thing as my uncle and Logan!" Luke stated before he elaborated, "My uncle called the police upon my father after Delilah was dead. My father was thrown behind bars as he was exclusive content.
guilty of committing a homicide. As such, we no longer need to worry about my father."
Luke spread his hands open and shrugged. "My uncle is cautious. He said that my father is related to us by blood, after all. No matter the reason, as long as we are opposing him, people will accuse us of being unfilial. Even though I don't care about my reputation, my uncle and Logan still do, thus I have to listen to them."
"Your uncle is right. Some people tend to criticize from the sidelines. They will force you to tolerate your father no matter how much he has wronged you, just because he is related to you by blood. Others will not hesitate to meddle in your family matters and call you out for being against him. You made the right decision to not confront him head-on."
