After Life
Prologue

Prologue

The sky was covered by black clouds, and it was pouring down raining. Thunder was raining down the sky surrounding a blood soaked battlefield. In a mountain range three figures were enveloped by a flash of lightning.

A wild and unkempt looking man was kneeling on the ground, shifting his weight onto his battleaxe. He had long turquoise hair running down his back, with multiple recent cuts across his face. This was only the least of his wounds, as his bare chest was gashed with a deep ‘X’ in the middle. His blood trickled down his brown leather pants and boots, only to meld with the rocky terrain.

It could only be considered a miracle how he was still alive.

About 10 feet in front of the man was a corpse, and another man clutching the lifeless corpse of a woman to his chest. The corpse was humanoid in shape, but definitely not one. With emerald green skin with splotches of purple dancing around its skin the only thing one would think of upon viewing it is “Inhuman..” The majority of its body was bare, except for the purple hood covering his face.

The man on the other hand had well defined features, bright red hair, and ornery silver armor. The grief on his face was evident, and as he kept on wailing the heavens roared in accompaniment. The gash on his left eye proved he suffered from more than just emotional wounds.

It’s understandable as what was left of the girl in his arms was nothing more but a bloody mess.

This scene kept going on for a couple minutes until the atmosphere suddenly changed. Neither of the men noticed this however until it was too late. The green corpse stood up from the ground. Gravity seemed to defy itself as pieces of fallen comrades strewn, around the battlefield slowly rose.

When the turquoise haired man finally noticed, the green monster had a palm pointed towards the red haired man.

“ERIC!” as he rushed out towards the monster.

A pure black energy started to condense at the monster’s palm, but before it got the chance to do anything it was grabbed.

The turquoise man held the monster in a nelson hold and shouted again.

“ERIC! There’s a time to grieve, but we must finish this thing! Especially for Jeanne!”

Eric looked up to stare at the two of them. His grief stricken face firmly resolved itself, but it faltered once again.

“If I do this you know you’ll die Gerald! We might be able to defeat it again, so let go of it!” he exclaimed.

“Look at us Eric…We’ve lost too many people, and are in worse shape as it is. Stop deluding yourself you know we can’t beat it like this. JUST STRIKE ITS HEART AND KILL US BOTH, SO AT LEAST YOU CAN LIVE!” Gerald started to form tears as he neared the end.

As Eric stood up a bright white light appeared in his hand before it slowly formed a sword. The monster struggled to escape to no avail, as it was locked tight by Gerald. The blade featured a red, leathery hilt. Two lizard like teeth came out on both sides of the guard respectively, and a pure white blade shone in the darkness.

“I’m sorry...GERRRALD!” Eric thrusted the sword into the heart of both Gerald and the monster. It slid in like butter and as Eric pulled it back the monster exploded…
