The beginning

When Levi gained consciousness he was expecting to be in his bed or maybe on his couch where he had a tendency to pass out. But he soon realized that he was not on either. He was laying on his back on a hard surface.

Levi pulled himself up at the same time he opened his eyes, he felt his brown eyes widen, out of all the possible places he could be, this was probably only a few spots above his last guess. Not to say he knew where he was, he had no idea. The space around him was dark, the rocky walls and floor were a sandy brown. To his left was a stone staircase leading upwards, it had a red carpet laying upon its middle.

Was this the work of some kind of supernatural entity? Levi didn’t know why he would be involved, he didn’t work for MOSE nor was he particularly close with someone who was, he didn’t even live in the part of the city that were particularly supernatural! Was this karma for not learning about all the supernatural entities in the city? Seeing the situation he was in? Probably.

He pulled himself up to his feet. It felt like a giant neon sign at night in an area with few lights that he was next to the giant stone stairs. Might as well find out what was at the top. It wasn’t the best idea ever, but usually rooms like this were underground and to get out he would have to go up. Might as well get as far as he could. He didn’t know when whatever or whoever brought him here would be back, and if he missed his chance to get out he would never be able to forgive himself.

----------------------------------------

He panted as he finally reached the top of the stairs. It had been a long staircase. Figured. He emerged into a room that resembled a throne room with only the impression of a doorway on the back wall where a throne would sit, although there wasn’t a throne but a black stone pedestal that held an odd glass sphere, like one of those glass orbs fake psychics have.

There was a wooden sign on the side closest to him, and he cautiously approached to read the sign, stopping about 5 ft (1.5 m) away from the pedestal.

‘To those who take fate

Into their hands

Doors that were previously closed open’

“Well that’s clearly not so obvious” Levi sarcastically remarked to himself. He questioned whether touching the weird sphere was worth the potential consequences, especially considering this might have been supernatural in nature. It didn’t seem like there was another way out though, and he thought this might be the lesser of two evils.

He once again approached the pedestal, and as he stopped in front of it, he took a steadying breath and grabbed the sphere in both hands.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

The doorway shifted open and it revealed a group of four figures, all dressed in MOSE uniforms.

“Door’s opened Sir!” A young woman with split pink and gray hair shouted.

“Thank you Charlie” a brown-haired man likely in his late twenties replied as the group of four entered the room, a blonde green-eyed elf and a black-haired woman followed the first two. Their eyes almost instantly turned to Levi who had frozen in place, sphere still in his hands.

Before any of them could ask him questions, Levi nervously started speaking.

“So I just woke up in what I think is the basement, no idea how I got here, and the sign up here said that I had to pick up the weird sphere to open the door, and I picked it up and the door opened and your here now, can you take me home? Cause I’d really like to go home and-” The brunette cuts off his rambling.

“We can get you home, but first you need to put down the orb, it’s definitely supernatural” Levi definitely feels that’s reasonable and says as much. As he goes to set the orb down the inside starts swirling in various shades of glowing red. Before he or the MOSE agents can do anything the orb is blindingly bright and suddenly shatters outwards, impacting Levi and sending him to the floor. He grunts as he hits the floor, the glass cuts stinging sharply. As the world goes back, Levi swears he can hear a deep, scratchy voice, it almost sounds like his underneath the inhuman distortions.

----------------------------------------

Levi blinks his eyes open again, hissing slightly at the bright light, his head still slightly fuzzy. He’s in a new location again. Except this one was definitely more comfortable than the last one he was in.

It was weird, he was sore and his body hurt, but he didn’t feel any of the cuts he was sure he should have, only a generally sore body, a headache, pain behind and in his eyes, and aching ears. Levi only had a few moments to collect his thoughts before a voice to his left startled him.

“Oh great you’re awake,” it was the black-haired MOSE agent from before, “now that you’re awake we can talk.”

“Wha . . .” he took a moment to clear his throat, “What happened, where are we?”

“We’re at the MOSE headquarters for Oraset City, where you’ve been taken after the incident where you idiotically got yourself possessed by a demonic entity.” The last set of words felt like a slap to the face, not only for their sharpness, but for their content, and Levi felt himself pale a few shades.

“Possession?!” Levi nearly screeched.

“Yes, possession, which we don’t currently have a solution for, hence the restraints.” It was only then that he realized that his limbs were all cuffed to the bed. His clothes were odd too, almost all black, with the exception of the tie around his neck and strange white wrappings on his wrists.

“What am I wearing?” He questioned her.

“Whatever clothes the entity gave you” she responded, her purple-tinted blue eyes narrowed, likely a descendant of a witch, clearly feeling unimpressed with him. He looked away from her.

“ . . . What am I meant to do now” he nervously asked.

“Well you could always start working for MOSE, it’ll be easier on you than other options.” The brunette from the odd throne room spoke before she could respond to Levi’s question. “Sorry about Ria, she can be a bit intense, it just means she cares,” Ria (?) sighs at that, “I’m Oliver Johnson, he/him,” he points to himself, “you were just talking to Ria Oleander, she/her, that’s Charlie Wood, she/her” he points at the young, split haired woman from before, she smiles and waves enthusiastically, “and this is Elmerson Cypress, they/them.” He points at the elf also from the room. “Now, what should we call you? And how would you like to join MOSE?”

“I’m Levi Smith, usually he/him but I don’t really mind, I’m Sixteen, and I guess joining MOSE seems like it would work.”

“Nice to meet you Levi, welcome to the team!” Agent Johnson exclaims. Yeah this should be okay, Levi thinks to himself and the weird presence in the back of his mind. The presence does the equivalent of leaning closer. “Okay indeed.” It whispers back.

“Huh” he says aloud.
