Chapter 1: A Stormy Turn of Events

Chapter 1: A Stormy Turn of Events

Haruto Yagami stared out the window of his college dorm room, watching the dark clouds gather ominously in the sky. “Great,” he muttered to himself, “another rainy day. Just what I needed. This is gonna ruin my plans of staring at the girls dorm all day.” He sighed dramatically and leaned back in his chair.

Little did he know, this boring afternoon was about to turn his life upside down.

Suddenly, a loud rumble of thunder echoed in the distance. Haruto flinched as the lights flickered. “No way! This can’t be happening!” he yelled, flailing in his seat. “Not the lights too! I just bought those snacks!”

A crackle of energy enveloped the room, and before Haruto could comprehend what was happening, a blinding flash of light engulfed him. The next moment, everything went dark.

When Haruto regained his senses, he found himself lying on the cool grass, staring up at a vibrant blue sky. He rubbed his eyes, trying to get a grip on his surroundings. “This can't be real,” he mumbled.

He sat up and gasped. Towering mountains surrounded him, and in the distance lay a grand castle with banners waving in the wind. It was like something out of a fantasy video game. “Am I dreaming? Is this one of those ‘isekai’ things?” he pondered aloud.

“Hey! Are you talking to yourself again?” a voice chimed in.

Startled, Haruto turned to see a girl standing a few feet away. She had long, flowing hair and wore gleaming armor that looked far too heavy for someone her size. “You’ve got to be kidding me,” Haruto said with a smirk. “Do I really have to deal with the ‘armor-clad warrior’ trope right off the bat?”

“Uh... what are you talking about?” the girl blinked, confusion washing over her face.

“Wait, you can’t hear me? Am I really stuck in a book?” Haruto exclaimed, realizing he might be able to manipulate this reality.

The girl furrowed her brow. “Do you need help getting up? You look lost… and a bit crazy.”

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

He stood up, brushing off his clothes. “I’m not crazy! I’m just a regular college student. But now I’m in a medieval fantasy world. Great going, me!”

“Haruto Yagami," he added dramatically, gesturing as if he were introducing himself on a stage. “Misfit Hero, at your service!” He gave a mock bow.

“Misfit Hero?” the girl echoed, tilting her head. “Sounds like you’re from another realm… or just very strange.”

“Both, actually,” Haruto replied, chuckling. “And you are…?”

“Kaelaya—warrior of the Kingdom of Rintaru,” she said, crossing her arms and striking a heroic pose.

Haruto couldn’t help but laugh. “Isn’t that just the perfect cliché? This is too easy!” He leaned in closer, whispering, “I bet you’re here to recruit me for some grand quest.”

Kaelaya blinked, clearly baffled. “Um… Yes. There’s an evil warlord threatening our land, and we need heroes to fight him!”

“Of course there is,” Haruto sighed dramatically. “Can’t a guy just enjoy his snacks without worrying about a warlord? Where’s the fun in that?”

Just as he finished his sentence, a second figure emerged from the trees. It was a girl with an air of mystery, wrapped in a flowing robe covered with magical symbols. “What’s this talk about warlords and snacks?” she asked, her voice smooth and mysterious.

“Perfect timing!” Haruto exclaimed. “You’re here to join my harem, right? I mean, what’s a hero without a harem?”

The mysterious girl shot him a curious glance. “A harem? What is that? Is it a place?”

Haruto chuckled. “No, no… it’s like a group of attractive female companions, going on adventures with me… you know, typical isekai stuff.”

“I will join your ‘harem,’ only if it helps to defeat the warlord,” she declared, a hint of mischief in her eyes.

“Great! So, you’re in?” Haruto looked back at Kaelaya, who seemed increasingly confused. “And who are you?”

“I’m Sionora, a mage, sort of,” the girl replied, scratching her head. “I may need to improve my spell memory first before I really join anything.”

“Fantastic,” Haruto responded, raising his arms in mock celebration. “Two companions already! What’s next, an elegant princess wanting to share a destiny with me?”

As if on cue, a royal-looking girl strolled into the clearing, dressed in a long gown, her hair shimmering in the sunlight. “Did someone say ‘princess’? I’m Miora, of the Kingdom of Rintaru. And it seems I’ve stumbled upon a hero who knows how to make an entrance,” she said with a captivating smile.

Haruto blinked, then faced the reader in a knowing smile. “See? It’s all coming together. Don’t you just love when everything falls into place?”

And so began Haruto Yagami’s journey, a tale of laughter, harem antics, and the occasional confrontation with a warlord… all while wondering if he would ever see his beloved snacks again.
