POV: JAKE
He was worried, very, very worried. Finn had suffered a head injury that had knocked him out instantly and he had not woken up yet!! It was right after they had helped that stupid crying mountain. And how had he repaid them, crushing a boulder on his best bro's head!!
He knew it was a bad idea to help a talking pile of stone, like what large piece of rock just casually starts talking.
But it was a mistake. And Finn would be alright. He was a tough kid who had taken harsher knocks. Yes, he had to be alright!!
- Pacing around the room -
It was his job as a big brother to make sure that Finn was alright, and he had failed. He failed Finn!! And now he was dead.
" sob waahhh waahhh. Finn, I'm sorry. I'll make sure to bury your body properly. And . . . and . . . I'll even bake you your favorite Finn cupcakes. Waahhh " Jake had never been more disappointed with himself.
Such a response would have looked normal for an outward observer, but it was not. Jake himself had bandaged Finn after the incident and had made sure that he was alright, leaving him comfortable to sleep on the bed. Such a response was not normal.
In short, this was nothing more than an exaggeration on Jake's part. His wild imagination practically cursed the person who should be healing to a death that had not happened. In fact, Jake the dog was already imagining the funeral procession and the speech he would be making, and the tears once again came to him.
" Jake!! " A very familiar voice screamed, easily reaching his twitching dog ears, making them twitch more vigorously.
Jake suddenly stopped crying. And looked around confused. Was that his best bud? Was his soul still watching over him past the earthly realm! That was just like Finn, always ever Kind and Loving. Jake would remember him always.
" Jake!! " His dog ears enlarged to pick up all sounds in the tree house and he could finally hear it. Yes, the noise was coming from their bedroom. The muffled shouting of a childish voice he was very familiar with.
In the bedroom, he had placed Finn's injured body!!
" Oh Glob!! Finns awake! Wait for me you sweet summer child, Ima coming! " He stretched past the floorboards, shrinking until he was tiny enough and resizing back to his original size up in their bedroom.
Where he was met with the site of a white mummy crawling on Finn's bed, fiercely struggling to break free but failing each time. Now that he was looking at it with a calm mind, it was kind of funny. Hehe
" Jake!! " Finn's voice came again and Jake rushed forward to rescue his best bud from the bandage monster that had eaten him up!!
" Huyaahh " He used his awesome fighting moves to free Finn from the clutches of the bandages. He learned them from his dad.
Finn breathed out fiercely as if he were trapped and had finally escaped.
" Finn, you're finally awake. I was so worried. " Jake tightly hugged Finn stretching his hands around him in a tight hug.
" Can't . . .. breathe! " Jake pulled back and stared up at Finn's increasingly purple face and quickly pulled back.

- Coughing -
" I'm sorry Finn . . . are you alright? " Jake had noticed there was something strange about Finn. Something only, he could notice. He felt that Finn had changed but he could not tell how. There was no visible change, but Jake was sure Finn was different! Or was it the bump on his head? It looked to be reduced though.
" I'm alright bro . . .Just, a little tired! " Finn was taking deep breaths and Jake could see that the hug had done a number on him.
What was he doing? Worrying about pointless things while his bro was passed out. Jake felt bad but he knew how to fix it, he would make his most famous chicken soup to aid in Finn's healing journey!!
A mixture of the finest spices, chicken, spring water, vegetables from the farmers market, and lots of love and Finn would be brand new in a couple of days!! He had to get to it.
. . . .
POV: Finn
Yellow glossy hair and big round eyes, that was the first sight that caught Leo as soon as he saw his brother Jake, and then it was followed by what he would have considered strange if he did not have his memories from the past 10 years. A talking dog, no, a talking dog that had stretching powers!!
The new him surprisingly did not find this strange. It felt normal. Normal because this was normal in his mind. He was raised by his talking dog parent and the land of Ooo was equally not a normal place. But this still did not reduce the strangeness of it all, yes it was normal, but still strange. Like people saying the earth was flat. Very normal but still strange.
Finn could see the worry increase in Jake's eyes and the panic rise for whatever reason. Was he still worried about the hug; he shouldn't be. Finn was practically fine now. And he could not lie that he was very impressed with the amount of emotion he could see on Jake's face. It felt very fulfilling somehow.
" Hey Jake, you're worrying over nothing, I'm perfectly fine. See. " Finn flexed his arm to show off his muscles. But he fell back on the bed feeling like a jolt of pain ran through his head. Maybe he wasn't fine.
What exactly happened to him? He felt as if he was hit by a truck! And now that he thought about it, why was he wrapped like he was about to be buried?
" What happened to me, Bro? My head weighs like a bag of stones, "
Finn felt natural. Calling this magical dog that he had grown up with his brother was very normal to him and why not? Jake was his brother from another mother and father. His heart told him so and the memories that were with him could not be replaced just because of his new memories. That fact had solidified in his mind and would not change.
And having a magical talking Dog as the best pall was the coolest thing ever!!
It was a fact that he would never deny, and he readily accepted it. He felt warm knowing he still had a family he could rely on, an older brother that despite his failings, had tried to make sure that Finn was always safe and happy, and that was why he readily called Jake his brother. Maybe the Goddess wasn't as useless as he thought.
"Well. . . " Finn was not sure why he felt as if he would not like what Jake was about to tell him. And by the tone Jake had started with, he was very sure of it. But he was ready, he could take it. He was a strong guy.
" Lay it on me, Jake. " He spoke seriously. He wanted to know. What had happened, were they fighting a strong monster, or maybe was he exhausted after a long tiresome battle? His blue eyes sparkled in anticipation! He needed to know!
" You were knocked out by a falling boulder dude. " His face fell, and he knew his day was ruined. A boulder, he must have heard it wrong. He was knocked out by a boulder, was his durability turned off or something?
" After we finished helping the crying mountain and helping the others fix their problems, a boulder by chance hit you in the head and knocked you out. You've been asleep for at least two hours Finn! . . . Do you know how worried I was! " At that moment everything became background noises.
It all slowly came back to him finally. Slowly but still painful. How the crying mountain for some reason did not like the violence of the marauders. How he had revealed his helping philosophy how he had cleverly helped all the people solve their problems and finally how a boulder had landed on his head. It was a little painful to remember but at least he now knew what had happened.
Finn felt like he was being mothered as he listened to his brother and he chuckled at the warmth he felt rise in him, even overshadowing his disappointment of being snipped by a boulder. A warmth he only felt before when he was with his father but now, he had a new family. A family he would do his best to make sure he never lost.
" Hahahahaha " He laughed. A happy and boisterous laugh that confused Jake but soon enough, Jake also joined in the laugh. Boosting the overall morale that was dropping in the room.
Why either of them was laughing the other did not know. It was simply a laugh that confirmed that both were okay. Despite the slight stumble, they were still there for each other.
" Huh "
" Why are we laughing? " Jake finally asked and looked at Finn confused, and Finn laughed some more.
" And also, theirs a floating book that's been following you around. "
That quickly got Finn to almost choke on his saliva as he looked at Jake strangely. Had he also hit his head?
" Where? " He asked more curiously to see what his lovable brother was talking about
" Behind you. It's been floating there for a while now. " Jake pointed almost obviously behind Finn and he turned his head stiffly around to look at the so-called book.
And floating there right behind him was . . . a floating book, unsurprisingly. The book was prominently red and black with strange Kanji symbols and finally, it had a green ninja mask motif at the center. Finn recognized the book. It was part of the wish he had been given.
More precisely it was part of the ninja pack he had acquired, and he was therefore not very surprised at seeing it beside him.
" Oh look, a floating book. "
He saw Jake looking at him strangely and he wondered why. Did he expect him to get scared? Why would he? In his eyes, Finn thought a floating book was thousands of times less scary than a talking mountain. At least a floating book he could somehow explain using his logic but a talking mountain!!
" Did you try touching it, " He asked the doubtful dog beside him curiously.
" Of course not! What if it has ghost germs? "
