Chapter 1: Prologue

It was in the late afternoon, when Alan received a package for his favorite novel, Genius of the Supreme Order, a fantasy novel about the adventures of David Alkaine.

Opening the box, Alan found a poster with all of the major characters on it and a hardcover of the book, along with a surprise. The box also included a letter from the author.

"That's nice of him." Alan said to himself, then decided to waste no time and open the letter.

[Hello!

Thank you for buying this package, Alan Murk. Throughout the years, you have been the only person who has bought every single novel! I am sad to say, that this is the end of the journey for my novel, but it has been a fun eight years!

Due to your loyalty as a reader, I want to surprise you with a special gift! You will find out in the morning!

Sincerely,

End]

Alan thought about his life while reading the letter. It was around the time he was ten when this novel came out. He was a lonely child and that followed him all the way into his current age, eighteen. He was also an orphan, so there was no family for him to be around.

This novel had kept him from feeling lonely all of these years and now that it had ended, he felt sad.

Focusing his attention back onto the letter, he wondered what the author meant by another surprise.

He decided to ignore it for now and wait for the surprise, which was probably another package.

Leaving the package on his table he went to his computer, playing a few games, then falling asleep on his desk.

-

"Hey, it's nice seeing you again!" A boy shouted, waking him up.

Alan opened his eyes in shock at another persons voice in his room and instinctively reached out for a pair of glasses, but his hand landed on nothing. He focused his eyes at where his glasses would usually be placed, but they weren't there. That wasn't the only unusual thing about this situation, his vision had also improved and his hands became smaller.

Sobering himself up, he looked at his surroundings, seeings kids all around him, then laid his head back down on the desk. Alan thought of himself as somewhat of a logical person, so as soon as he saw all of the changes in front of him, he had already come up with a conclusion.

I'm in another persons body...

"Who are you?" Alan asked the boy, propping up his head. Then, thinking that his question was too direct and may raise suspicion, he tried asking another question, but the boy had already started speaking.

"Glad to be forgotten after a day." The boy replied sarcastically, then smiled. "Let me introduce myself again. My name is Daniel Alkaine, we met in the testing room yesterday." he said, putting his hand forward.

"Let's be friends."

Immediately, Alan frowned. Daniel Alkaine was the name of the main character in the novel he had just finished, Genius of the Supreme Order. Looking at Daniel Alkaine's appearance, it was just like how the novel had described, blonde hair, good looking and tall.

This meant that he wasn't just in another persons body, but that he was also in another world.

"Well, seeing as how you are frowning, I won't bother you."

Before Daniel could pull his hand back, Alan had already grabbed it.

"No, let's be friends."

Both of them smiled at the same time, then let go.

"Alright, well, I'll be going back to my desk then. Just wanted to say hi, since you were someone I recognized and talked to yesterday. Remember that our first class starts in another hour, make sure you don't fall asleep." Daniel said, laughing lightly, then walked away.

This book is hosted on another platform. Read the official version and support the author's work.

-

After looking around once again, Alan walked out of the classroom, then wondered around, gathering his thoughts and trying to put them together.

A couple of minutes later, he thought about the authors letter. The letter said there was going to be a surprise in the morning and since he fell asleep on his desk, that meant that a day had passed.

"So, the surprise was turning me into a character in his book? How is this possible though." he whispered to himself, still confused with his current situation.

Turning back his thoughts onto the current situation, he thought about David's earlier comment. If this was the second day, then he was in the middle of the first arc, which took place in the Academy of Magic.

Thinking about it, he was glad that he didn't start at the beginning, or he would have been a baby.

-

Exiting the bathroom, he headed back to his class, then looked around and saw Daniel sitting at the front.

Alan decided to sit in the back, avoiding Daniel for now, then waited for the class to silently start.

Soon, the professor walked in and stood in front of a standing desk, introducing herself.

"Hello, students. I am Jessica West, a high-ranking mage. I am a dual-magician of fire and wood." she said, then whispers started emerging from the students.

"Jessica West! The magician who destroyed a terrorist organization along with two other mages last year!" One of the male students shouts, pointing at the professor.

The students whispers got louder and they all looked at the professor with admiration, then quieted down, waiting for the professor to continue.

"Alright, thank you everyone. Now, onto today's lesson. Well, it's not a really a lesson, since I'll be testing your affinity's today." she said, then paused before continuing her speech, "We will learn what element each of you possess. If you are in this class, then that means you are the prodigies of this current year and were able to absorb mana faster than everyone else."

Alan looked around and saw most of the students looking on with pride, then looked back at the professor.

"Now, which of you can answer this question. How are you able to absorb mana at a faster rate than others?"

"Because each of us has an affinity to an element!" One of the students shouted.

"Correct, most people don't even have a single affinity to an element, but are still able to use mana. Each of you have been privileged with having an elemental affinity, allowing you to absorb mana two times faster than a normal person." she said, then picked up a list.

"Alright, everyone, I will go down this list and each of you will come down here and place your hand on this cube." she said, pointing her hand at a stand with a black cube and ten crystals in front, all with a little glow in the middle, "Once you touch this black cube, one or more of these crystals will light up, by order, they are fire, nature, water, air, light, darkness, metal, wood, lightning, and finally gravity magic." she finished, then two of the crystals lit up, fire and wood.

"Teacher! Can still learn about each element? Even if we don't have an affinity for them right?" one of the students asked.

"Yes! Although, there will be no point, since you will progress a lot slower. I do not recommend it." she said, then continued, "Okay, now I will call down the first person!"

She looked down on her list and shouted out the first name, "Leon Pamel!". instantly, Alan paid attention to the student walking down.

He knew this name, because it was the name of David Alkaine's best friend, although they started out as rivals first.

Alan watched as Leon Pamel walked down, everyone having their gazes focused on him. Leon reached for the cube and placed his right hand on it, soon three crystal balls lit up.

Everyone looked on in shock, surprised, because they all knew that lighting up three crystals was next to impossible.

"Amazing, seems like we have a monster in this class already, light, metal, and lightning. Everyone, it is extremely rare to have more than one element, do not be ashamed if you only light up one!" the professor said to her students, reassuring them. Then, she looked at the student in front of her.

"Leon Huff, you will be assigned a personal high-ranking mage as your tutor for each element you possess."

Her words caused most of the students to gasp and whispers could be heard about how great of an opportunity it was to have a high-ranking mage as a personal tutor.

The students started wishing they were as lucky as Leon. They looked on in suspense, anticipating their turn as more people went down, but none of them had any luck, until it was David Alkaine's turn. As he went down, only a few paid close attention, having lost hope on the results.

He placed his hands on the crystal ball, then five elements lit up, which were earth, water, light, lightning, and gravity.

"Amazing! It's rare for a gravity affinity to appear, but for one to appear and to have four other affinity's. Looks like we have more than one monsters in this class!" the teacher laughed.

Everyone looked at the results, surprised, then discussion rose out and the class became loud.

"Settle down everyone!" the teacher said, keeping her shocked state in her mind.

"Alright, it's the same with you David Alkaine. You will be assigned a high-ranking mage for each of your elements, now go back to your seat." she said, then called up the next person.

"Alan Burk!" she called out.

Surprised, Alan stood up quickly as everyone stared, wondering if he was going to be another monster, but that wasn't the case. Alan remembered the side character after a while, he had to go deep into his memory to remember.

Alan Burk was mentioned once, during the testing phase, when David and him were partnered up. The only reason David interacted with him afterwards was probably because he was worried about the teacher seeing him sleeping on the desk.

Alan fastened his pace as he walked down, since he was pretty far from the stand. He also wondered what his element was, feeling excited, he placed his hand on the cube and one crystal lit.

Fire.
