Who?

Who?

The bright sunlight slowly opened his eyes, only to see an entire different senercy than what he used to before.

Destruction, death, and no chance of survival were the last thoughts before he closed them before; thinking they would be his last.

But compared to the bleak, dusted sun from before, the sunlight here was too bright for the moment, he could barely get his thoughts together before his eyes finally focused.

He was laying down facing the clear, blue sky. Was this what Earth was like before the nuclear winter?  Was the boy’s first thought of seeing this world, but that thought quickly came to a close. His eyes quickly widened as soon he realized he was not looking at a single, sole sun…

There were no clouds, so the boy was fast to notice that there was not one sun, but two!

One sun burned brighter than the other, and that sun was also bigger; but the other sun that seemed to emit less light had a more daunting look and caused the boy to even have a slight chill before it.

He moved his elbow towards his face to block all this sunlight, it was still too much for him to take in, mentally and physically. He last remembered the cold, snowy wastelands with the dusk clouds forever blocking out the sun; the freezing cold that could easily cause frostbite and death within minutes; the cold fact that he was born and raised in that cruel world and why not in a different time.

Am I dreaming? Is this heaven?

The boy thought blankly, He was so emotional right now that he could cry, and he thought he was, until he wiped the fluid off of his face with the elbow he was blocking the sun with.

To his surprise, instead of tears, it was blood, and a lot of it.

The boy quickly sat up as soon as he saw the blood. After, he wiped his face hand, only to wipe up more blood. Weird, as he did not feel any pain.

When he sat up, he studied himself closely. The first thing he noticed was that his entire attire was completely changed. From going the tighty worn layers upon layers of jackets and gloves to just wearing a short sleeve and overalls, albeit they were all torn up.

Secondly, he surprisingly looks at his legs to find that they are shorter. Then he looked at his arms, they were shorter too.

I’m a kid again? He thought weirdly. He turned his head, finally looking at his surroundings. He was in a somewhat  vast grassland, the tall grass was as high as the boy’s med-section.

He looked to his left and to his right. To his right, he saw a treeline not too far into the horizon. Probably a few miles out, he thought.

He couldn’t completely see the surrounding grasslands because he was sitting on his ass, but as soon as he got up, his vision changed. His eyes were long adjusted to the sunlight so he could see clearly.

He turned around fully to his left for an unexpected surprise, something he could only dream about in his old, desolate world.

Water. And lots of it, it was a pure water lake that could probably be classified as an ocean.

The only reason he thinks this vast mass of sea could be a lake was because of some nagging feelings and lingering memories that did not feel like his own.

The shore of the lake was about 300 meters out from where he was so the walk wasn’t too long. The boy’s first steps in this world were a little wobbly. It was partly due to him never experiencing the soft sensation of grass and dirt between his feet.

He took in the view as he was walking towards the shore.

They were animals that he had never seen before.

They were different in quite a variety of ways, birds with four wings and long colorful tails; he saw two-tailed mice scurrying around the ground nibbling on the grass. The wind blew softly to allow the grass to dance in it.

He made it to where the dirt slowly changed into sand and the lake waterfront’s scenery could be more clearly seen to him.

The water is not too far from him now and he could see how clear the water is.

He was close enough now to see his reflection. But What he saw was a stunned, youthful, and a completely unfamiliar looking face.

It was his face no doubt, but at the same time it wasn’t. Depersonalization.

Just What is this? He thought, His face looked completely foreign; just as his body. Also apart from the mud and dirt caked around his head. There was a lot of blood and it seemed a little fresh as well… Completely new world, different body, and so much blood. So many questions popped into his mind, but the boy continued to stare at his reflection as if he had lost his mind.

The moment his eyes made contact with his body reflection, he felt a shock through his brain as his neurons fired.

They fired together to form flashing pictures, no more like a flipbook. He could not make out much, only white shadowy blurs.

Those blurs were molded like people, but he could not make them out.

He could feel the warmth, he could feel the care they had for him…

And that was it.

Because when he came back to reality, he was met with a burly, hairy hand grabbing his wet shirt and a long razor-edged knife pointing threatening at him.

“Aye Kid, What kinda crazy fuck are you?”
