Day 1: Part 1

Arinthas Festival of Elements - Day 1:

Adrian found himself in the midst of the lively Festival of Elements in the city of Arinthas. Vibrant banners waved overhead, and the air was filled with the aroma of sizzling street food and the sounds of laughter and music. Colorful tents and stalls were set up all around, offering everything from intricate jewelry to exotic spices.

He was confused. "How did I get here? I was just reading a novel and suddenly I was here. Did I just got isekai'd?" He thought in his head. He looked around. As he pondered his situation, he took a moment to scan the bustling festival grounds. Indeed, he did spot various races other than humans. Elves with pointed ears chatted amicably, dwarves in sturdy clothing browsed through stalls, and even a few halflings were darting between the crowd, their nimble movements almost like a dance.

A group of tieflings dressed in striking, colorful garments were gathered around a nearby food stall, sharing laughter and stories. Their horns and distinct features made them stand out among the crowd. And over by the stage, a centaur musician played a lively tune on a set of drums, drawing quite the crowd with their rhythmic performance.

It became clear to him that he had been transported to a truly fantastical realm, where races and creatures from stories had come to life.

As he took in the sights, he felt a tap on his shoulder. Turning around, he found himself facing a tall elf with golden hair and eyes that seem to shimmer with wisdom. "Excuse me, stranger," she said in a melodious voice, "I couldn't help but notice your thoughtful expression. Is something amiss?"

"I..." His words did not get out because Adrian found her breathtaking. Yes, the elf woman was slightly taller than him so Adrian has to look up. His height is 180 cm, so she must be around 190 cm. Her graceful presence and ethereal beauty seemed to captivate his attention momentarily, making it a bit difficult to find his words.

Seeing his momentary hesitation, she offered a warm smile. "Forgive me if I've startled you. It's not often we see new faces in Arinthas, especially during such a grand event. Are you a traveler from distant lands?"

She seemed genuinely interested in Adrian’s presence, awaiting his response with a patient and friendly demeanor.

He nodded.

The elf woman's smile grew even more inviting as Adrian nodded in response. "Ah, a traveler indeed," she mused. "Well, you've chosen an auspicious time to visit Arinthas. The Festival of Elements is a celebration of harmony, a time when people from all walks of life come together to revel in the balance of nature's forces."

She glanced around, gesturing at the festivities around him. "The city's heart is alive with merriment, but beneath it all, there is an undercurrent of worry. The recent disappearances have cast a shadow over our festivities. Many have gathered to enjoy the festivities while hoping for a resolution to this mystery."

Her eyes met his with a compassionate gaze. "If you're inclined to help, the city council seeks those who are willing to investigate the matter discreetly. I know not whether you're familiar with our ways or customs, but your fresh perspective might bring insight where others have failed."

Her gaze lingered on him expectantly, waiting to hear his thoughts and intentions.

Adrian took a moment. He saw downwards. What he saw was his clothes from modern world. He still used T-shirt and long pants. Barefoot. In the world of Aeloria, where medieval and fantasy attire was the norm, his modern clothing stood out. His T-shirt and long pants were unlike anything the locals were wearing. The people around him casted curious glances in his direction, their expressions a mix of fascination and intrigue.

Some of the festival-goers whispered to each other as they noticed his unique attire. The vibrant colors and intricate designs of their own clothing contrasted with his simple and practical modern outfit. While Adrian’s clothing might seem odd to them, the general atmosphere of the festival has created an environment of acceptance and openness.

As for being barefoot, it's not entirely uncommon to see people walking without shoes in certain parts of Aeloria, especially in grassy areas or on warm days. However, the combination of his clothing and being barefoot might further contributed to his distinct appearance.

The elf woman's gaze shifted briefly to his clothing before returning to meet his eyes. She seemed to take note of his attire, but her demeanor remains welcoming and understanding, as if she's accustomed to encountering the unexpected.

With her previous words in mind, the elf woman awaited his response, ready to listen to his thoughts and decisions.

"Huh? I'm sorry, what?" Adrian asked dumbly, as if asking her to repeat her question.

The elf woman chuckles softly at Adrian response, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "No need to apologize. I can see that you're still adjusting to your surroundings. Allow me to reintroduce myself. I am Elara, and I serve as a liaison between the city council and the visitors who grace our city."

"As I mentioned earlier, we face a mystery that has cast a shadow over our celebration. People are vanishing without a trace, and the council is seeking capable individuals who might help shed light on this unsettling matter."

Elara's gaze held a mix of hope and intrigue. "If you are willing to lend your unique perspective and perhaps your skills to this endeavor, you could play a crucial role in resolving the mystery that has befallen Arinthas."

She waited, giving Adrian a moment to consider her proposal.

"That is... interesting." He said slowly, while he thought otherwise. He was still acclimating himself being isekai'd. And now this woman suddenly offered him a job? A random traveler, alone, and talked as if people disappearing during festival is not a secret? “Suspicious”, Adrian thought. “I don't trust her.”

"I am just here for fun though. Thank you, but I think I will get back to my friend." He said as he lied. He had no friends here. He was suddenly isekai'd here. He needed time to think

Elara's smile remained warm and understanding as she listened to Adrian’s response. "Of course, dear traveler. It's perfectly understandable that you'd want to enjoy the festivities without getting involved in local matters. Please know that you're more than welcome to explore and immerse yourself in the celebration."

She nodded gently. "If ever your curiosity leads you to reconsider, know that our offer stands. The city council's concern is sincere, and we believe that unity and understanding will help us overcome these challenges."

With a graceful gesture, Elara extended her hand. "Should you need any guidance or have questions, do not hesitate to seek me out. I wish you an enjoyable time at the Festival of Elements."

As he parted ways with Elara, he was left to navigate the festival on his own. The vibrant atmosphere, the various races and creatures, and the enchanting sights and sounds surrounded him.

He found a quiet spot beneath a sprawling tree near the edge of the festival grounds. The shade provided a welcomed relief from the warm sun, and he was able to observe the festivities from a peaceful distance. People of all races continued to enjoy themselves, laughter and music filling the air.

Sitting there, he had a moment to reflect on his circumstances. He was far from the world he once knew, surrounded by the fantastical and the unfamiliar. The elven woman who approached before made him realize that there might be scam too in this world.

As he sat beneath the tree, his gaze swept over the festival grounds, taking in the various interactions and scenes. After a few moments, his eyes settled on a sight that brought a gentle smile to his lips.

Near a colorful stall selling intricately woven fabrics, he spotted an elf and a dwarf engaged in conversation. The elf has long, golden hair that shimmers in the sunlight, and her graceful movements were in stark contrast to the dwarf's stockier build. The dwarf, with a thick beard and sturdy frame, seemed to radiate a sense of strength and determination.

They stood close together, their body language relaxed and familiar. Their laughter mingled with the sounds of the festival, and it's clear that they were sharing a moment of genuine camaraderie. The elf playfully tugged on the dwarf's beard, prompting an exaggerated mock-protest from him.

While it's not immediately evident if they're a couple, their interactions conveyed a deep sense of friendship and understanding. As he watched, he was reminded of the diverse relationships that can blossom in a world as rich and varied as Aeloria.

As his gaze continued to roam the festival grounds, he spotted a few more intriguing sights:

Near a stand offering exotic fruits, Adrian noticed a lizard-like humanoid. He stood tall, his scales ranging from earthy browns to vibrant greens. A cloak made of woven leaves and feathers drapes over his shoulders, blending with the natural environment. The lizard man seemed engrossed in conversation with a group of curious children who were fascinated by his appearance.

Over by a stall that offers various trinkets and baubles, he spotted a woman with distinct cat-like features. Her ears are pointed and furry, resembling those of a feline, and her movements exude a graceful and agile demeanor. She wore clothing adorned with patterns resembling cat stripes, and a playful twinkle dances in her eyes as she haggled with the vendor over the price of a small, shiny object.

As he continued to observe, his phone vibrated softly in his pocket. He picked the phone.

“Why is it vibrating? Is there a random omnipotent being who is messaging me about my isekai?” Adrian thought.

As he reached into his pocket and retrieved his phone, he noticed that the screen was illuminated, displaying a single notification: a text message from an unknown number. The message read:

"Greetings, Adrian. I hope this message finds you well in your new realm. I am a guide of sorts, an entity who has taken an interest in your unique situation. You've found yourself in a world filled with wonders and mysteries, and I offer my assistance should you seek it. If you have questions or wish to discuss your circumstances, simply reply to this message. Wishing you an enlightening journey."

The message was signed with a symbol that resembles an intricate, stylized eye.

The appearance of this message raised a host of questions. Who sent it? How did they know Adrian’s phone number? And what was the extent of their knowledge about his situation? The Festival of Elements continued around him, the lively atmosphere contrasting with the enigmatic message he had just received.

After a moment of contemplation, he typed out a response on his phone:

"Hello. I appreciate your message. It seems you have some insight into my situation. Yes, I've found myself in a different world. The notion of having a 'cheat' ability has crossed my mind. Can you provide more information about the nature of this world and whether there's a way for me to return to my original world?"

As he sent the reply, the air was filled with a sense of anticipation. His phone's screen lights up with a brief confirmation that the message has been sent. The festival around him continues its lively rhythm, but his thoughts are focused on the enigmatic entity that reached out to him.

As Adrian glanced around the festival grounds, his eyes scanned the diverse array of beings and creatures present. After a few moments of observation, his attention was drawn to a particularly eye-catching sight:

Near a corner of the festival, where the festivities seemed to take on a slightly more exotic tone, he spotted a figure that fits the description of a succubus. Her appearance is striking and alluring, with flowing raven-black hair, crimson eyes, and an aura of otherworldly beauty. She wore an elegant gown that accentuates her curves and features intricate patterns reminiscent of flames.

The succubus moved gracefully, her presence commanding attention as she interacts with festival-goers. Despite her captivating demeanor, there's an air of approachability about her that draws people into conversation. She seemed to be telling stories and sharing laughter with those around her.

As Adrian observed the succubus, the enigmatic message he received earlier lingers in his mind. The vibrant festivities continued to unfold around him, providing a backdrop to the mysteries that are unfolding both in the festival and in the digital realm of his smartphone.

His smartphone vibrated. Adrian quickly navigated to the messages and found that the entity had responded to his inquiries. The text read:

"Adrian, your curiosity is both admirable and fitting for one who finds themselves in such a unique situation. Yes, you have indeed been transported to a different realm, a world of fantasy and magic known as Aeloria. As for your 'cheat,' it appears that you possess an extraordinary ability to create objects once a day, a power reminiscent of many tales of protagonists in worlds like these.

Regarding returning to your original world, I must inform you that the boundaries between realms are complex and often impenetrable. It is a rare occurrence for someone to cross over as you have, and the methods to return are shrouded in mystery. However, I offer my assistance and guidance in navigating this world and uncovering its secrets. As you explore Aeloria, you may find clues that lead you closer to understanding your situation."

The message ended with the same stylized eye symbol as before. The words carry a sense of both intrigue and reassurance, leaving him to contemplate the path that laid ahead.

"Thank you." He replied. He slipped the phone back into his pocket after responding to the entity's message.

"So I can create an object once a day." The idea of using his unique ability to create objects once a day lingered in his mind, along with the various possibilities it presents. Deciding to start with a practical use, he contemplated creating money to help him navigate this new world.

He decided to ask around about nearby inns and their rates for a room rental. As he approached a friendly-looking halfling who seems to be managing a small information booth, he greeted Adrian with a warm smile. "Greetings, friend! What can I help you with today?"

He inquired about nearby inns and their rates for a rented room. The halfling nodded and gestured in the direction of a nearby row of colorful tents and buildings. "We've got a couple of fine inns just down the way. The Golden Hearth Inn and the Silver Moon Inn are popular choices. As for the rates, you're looking at around 100 copper coins for a comfortable room that's good for a few nights' stay. Of course, prices can vary depending on the quality and location of the inn."

The halfling gave him a friendly wink. "If you need any more information or recommendations, feel free to ask!"

Adrian expressed interest in the halfling's recommendation for an inn. The halfling nodded appreciatively and points in the direction of a cozy-looking establishment not far from where they were standing. "I'd suggest the Silver Moon Inn. It's just over there," he said, gesturing to a building with a silver crescent moon emblem hanging over the entrance. "It's a friendly place with a welcoming atmosphere. You'll find it a short walk down that lane."

Adrian thanked the halfling for his guidance and began to make his way toward the Silver Moon Inn. The festival atmosphere continues around him, the vibrant sights and sounds a stark contrast to the mysteries and choices he was facing in this new world.

As he approached the inn, he was met with the pleasant aroma of cooked food and the sound of friendly chatter drifting from within. The silver crescent moon emblem sways gently in the breeze, and he step through the entrance, greeted by a warm and inviting interior.

The inn's common area features wooden tables and comfortable seating, and the warm glow of lanterns bathes the room in a cozy light. The innkeeper, a middle-aged man with a warm smile, greeted Adrian as he entered. "Welcome, traveler! How can I assist you today?"

"Hi, I was told that the price for comfortable room here is around 100 copper for a few days. Is it true? Can you give more details?"

The innkeeper's smile remained warm as he nodded in response to Adrian’s inquiry. "Indeed, you've heard correctly. Our standard rooms are available for 100 copper coins, and they're quite comfortable for a few nights' stay. Each room comes with a comfortable bed, a small writing desk, and a private washroom. We take pride in providing a welcoming and relaxing environment for our guests."

He gestured to a menu board hanging on the wall nearby. "If you're feeling hungry, our kitchen offers a variety of hearty meals and refreshing drinks. And for those looking to unwind after a day of exploration, we have a cozy lounge area where you can enjoy the company of fellow travelers."

The innkeeper's eyes twinkled with a hint of curiosity as he studies Adrian. "Are you new to Arinthas? If there's anything else you'd like to know or if you're interested in making a reservation, feel free to ask."

“Okay, how many nights are we talking? Also, is 100 copper include the breakfast cost?” Asked Adrian.

The innkeeper smiled and replied, "The standard rate of 100 copper coins covers a stay of three nights. It's a package deal that we find suits most travelers. And yes, I'm glad you asked, breakfast is indeed included in that rate. We offer a hearty breakfast spread each morning to ensure our guests start their day off right."

He paused for a moment before continuing, "If you're interested in staying longer or have any specific preferences, we're flexible and can certainly accommodate your needs. Just let us know, and we'll make the necessary arrangements."

As Adrian discreetly reached into the inside of his clothing, he activated his unique ability—the power to create objects once a day. Focusing his thoughts, he conjured a pouch filled with 30 gold coins, 30 silver coins, and 30 copper coins. The coins materialized within the pouch, their weight and texture feeling remarkably real in his hand.

With the pouch of coins now in his possession, he was ready to address his room reservation and payment without arousing suspicion.

The innkeeper, unaware of Adrian’s power usage, watched attentively as Adrian appear to retrieve something from his clothing. He maintained a friendly demeanor, awaiting Adrian’s next words.

Adrian presented the innkeeper with a silver coin, which he accepts with a nod and a smile. "Thank you, kind traveler. I've noted your payment." He took a moment to retrieve a key from behind the counter and hands it to Adrian. "Here is the key to your room. It's located on the second floor, room number 203."

As Adrian his interest in seeing the facilities, the innkeeper's smile widens. "Of course, I'd be happy to give you a brief tour."

He led the way through the inn, taking Adrian through a cozy dining area where guests enjoyed their meals and converse. The aroma of freshly cooked food wafted from the kitchen, enticing his senses.

Passing through a hallway, the innkeeper stopped at a door and opens it to reveal a well-appointed washroom. "Here's a private washroom for your convenience," he explained. "Each room has its own facilities to ensure a comfortable stay."

Continuing on, he guided Adrian to another area where a variety of pastries, fruits, and drinks were set up. "And here's our breakfast room. We serve a hearty breakfast buffet each morning, so you can start your day with a full belly."

Finally, he led Adrian to the room on the second floor, room number 203. Opening the door, he allowed Adrian to step inside and take in the comfortable furnishings—a cozy bed, a writing desk, and a window that lets in the soft glow of the setting sun.

"Here's your room," he said with a gesture. "Feel free to make yourself at home. If you have any questions or need assistance during your stay, don't hesitate to reach out."

With the tour complete, the innkeeper left Adrian to settle into his room.
