The Adaptor series type of bio-mods is based on a class system. The higher the rating (starting from S to A to B to C to D) system around the Adaptor organisms. Now these classes aren’t always perfect, sometimes a D-class Adaptor host can be much stronger and flexible than an A-Class. However, S-class Adaptors are usually specially cultivated or even genetically altered so they’re typically much better than their inferiors.
The higher the rating of an Adaptor the less ingrained and more flexible they are (though there is a bit of leeway going both ways). Flexibility referring to how easy symbiosis is between the host and their Adaptor colony. A low rating typically means that the host will become very disconnected from humanity and even a possible chance for a “takeover” could occur. A takeover in this case moreso referring to the host/former person having so much of their original identity altered and that they’re essentially more Adaptor in personality than themselves.
The injection site usually changes how the creature assimilates to their body, how it boosts their physiology. They understand that the inoculation period is key to stop any severe immune reactions (either from you or the organism).
Another thing people know is that Adaptors are colonial organisms….organisms who already have pre-inscribed instincts in their genetic code. Instincts which are then transferred to their hosts, the most common and recognizable being a sudden lack or disconnect from one’s empathy towards their fellow man. The more insidious aspect of the Adaptors is how their host has an affinity towards trying to push their limits, to see if they can master their bio-mod. This leaves them open; unconsciously or consciously pushing for a full integration of the Adaptor.

The Adaptor no matter how well you inoculate or even culture them will remove you from that which we call “Humanity”. On a biological level you’ll still mostly be counted as a human but on a psychological level….well that’s a whole different topic. A topic that’s easily answered with a no. But many feel this is actually an additional perk of the Adaptor series.
Techno-mind jacking is rendered virtually obsolete unless some tech enthusiast and Adaptor host want to spend years making an interfacing program that would work on them. However, the unfortunate reality is that the program would only work on that specific Adaptor host and no one else. Traditional Eso-type mind-tapping could probably work if the Eso-user had some practice with non-human minds or specifically Adaptors which is a rather…uncommon specialization to say the least.
Overall, the Adaptor series is your typical physiological enhancing bio-mod which slowly erodes or alters your personhood, a typical side-effect of many mods if not all. Though unlike many bio-mods this one allows one to heavily benefit from that alteration in personhood. The savvy Adaptor host might even preserve most of their “humanity” while still reaping the same physiological benefit if smart enough…or wealthy enough.
