Foreword
----------------------------------------
Ciaradh is a dangerous land filled to the brim with monsters and people who want nothing more than to either kill, eat, torture, or steal from you, sometimes all of the above at once. This book contains information on such monsters, human and inhuman alike, and lists their weaknesses, abilities, usefulness of their materials, habits, location, and more. The purpose of this study is to document the many inhabitants of this dreary land and teach you how to fight and survive such encounters. I had wished to publish this book to the public, but I am no longer welcome in my homeland, Boglach Glas, and it seems that my age has gotten to the point where I hear Bàs calling my name everywhere I go. For all the vile creatures I have purged and outsmarted, I can only admit defeat to age, as I am no match for father Uair. By this, I leave behind my knowledge, so it may not be lost and forgotten as I shall be. But enough of my bitter ramblings, use this information to survive this poor world and pass on a legacy.

Author’s note
----------------------------------------
Hello dear reader, it seems you have happened upon my journal of sorts. Inside this journal, you will find the knowledge that has let me survive in this grim land of Ciaradh for these many years. I fear that I can not run from age, as I can from a madadh-allaidh freumh¹ or togail feóil². I know I am not long for this world, I can feel Bàs’, death’s, cold hand on my shoulder. So, therefore, I entrust this book and pass down my wisdom to whoever finds this journal– you. May it serve you well in life, as it did in mine.
~ Lilen Grenhail Warton Fern, excommunicated scribe, and exile of Boglach Glas.
