Chapter 1
1 Movement Speed
Slosh slosh
Hm?
Slosh slosh
What’s that sound again…? I can’t quite remember. It’s on the tip of my tongue…
Slosh slosh
Okay now it’s getting annoying. “What is that sound!?” I ask myself.
I try to open my eyes and I see a gray world slowly fade into my view. I blink a few times to adjust my eyes to the lighting before I start looking around. The room I’m in seems to be made of a blue-ish gray brick with a few of said bricks laying around in some corners or near walls. I continue to look around and I spot an opening, which I assume is the exit, I notice a man face down against one of the walls opposite me. I make a note of the man, deciding to get to him as soon as I finish surveying my surroundings, I seem to be seated on some kind of greyish stone platform. I assume it to be a table and after noting the handful of bookshelves that are tattered and broken I make my way to the man.
I reach out for the edge of the table and realize my body won’t move. Panicking, I look down to inspect my body. I notice that I am smaller than I once was, roughly the size of a droplet, rounder as well. I light out a quiet sigh, but no breath comes out of me, I close my eyes and start to focus to try to remember what happened.
Let’s see last I remember I was in my【Divine Lake】resting from my previous engagement, where a small group of annoying humans came through asking me to assist their fallen comrade, and when I refused their leader got upset and drew his sword. A short while later I was critically injured and withdrew to my cave beneath the lake, the humans following shortly after. To think they were that persistent really did mean that I was right to label them annoying, once they reached my cave I was assaulted by a strange power that forcefully pulled me from my cave, another short battle later and I was forced onto land where the humans had an overwhelming advantage against me. Knowing I would be slain if this continued I quickly expressed my desire to concede and assist their comrade.
The humans had a short discussion and nodded to each other before lowering their weapons. One of them dashed into the forest for a moment quickly returning with an injured woman in their arms. I sighed and coiled my magical power around her, moving her to the lake where I began to heal her. Why those humans wanted to fight me, who has little to no attack power I will never know, however my expertise in healing was unmatched. The woman wore a white robe, her blood easily visible and her wounds grievous. A normal healer would spend weeks, if not months treating this woman, I however finished it in roughly 3 minutes and 11 seconds. I was always proud of my healing abilities.
I noticed a brand on the woman while I was healing her. Once I had finished the task, I moved to inspect the brand, I noticed it was a sort of binding curse, annoyed I removed it on a whim. In that instant the woman’s eyes opened and a slight smile crept onto her face. I gazed at her questioningly before she vanished. Shortly after I turned to the humans who brought her, their faces grim as sound left the world. The skill 【Silence】had been activated completely disabling any spells weaker than the caster’s level and weakening any spells stronger than them for the next 6 seconds, any and all sounds and speech are silent as well. In the blink of an eye half the humans in that group fell, the rest had large slashing marks on their chests and backs. For the rest of the 【Silence】nothing happened, once the spell had worn off, the leader, turned to me and accused me of doing something to her cursed brand. I smirked and told him I removed it, his face turned even uglier, as he called out for his remaining comrades to retreat. After they left I began to rest. I had wondered what that was all about but gave up and continued to rest. Once my eyes closed, the last thing I remember was hearing a faint voice whisper:
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
“Foolish Dragon” followed by a cracking sound.
Thinking back, it made a lot of sense, the woman was powerful but she was a slave. I set her free, she killed some of them and ran. Shortly after they returned and killed me while I slept. I opened my eyes and accepted that I had died again. It wasn’t the first time I had died. I died plenty of times, but each time I would just wake up in a new body, make my way back to my 【Divine Lake】and spend my days leisurely until I died again. That cycle had repeated god knows how many times already, I lost track after the 300th time. Still this body is a first, I seem to be a slime, and a rare species no less! After my 100th revival I started to learn about the world, and all it’s rare creatures as a hobby. I focused some of my Magical Energy towards my thoughts spoke the word ‘Status’ A large blue screen opened up in front of me, showing me all my current stats and information:
Name: 【Unnamed】
Race: Tear-Drop Slime
Strength: 1
Agility: 999
Intelligence: 【Mastery】
Movement Speed: 1
Magical Defense: 【Mastery】
Physical Defense: -50%
Skills:
【None】
Well it seems everything is normal, as usual I kept my Mastery in Intelligence and Magical Defense. However this is the first time I’ve been 1 point away from Mastery in Agility from birth, with only a single Movement Speed. From what I learned agility can also mean flexibility for some creatures like snakes and slimes. I guess that might be why this species of slime is so rare, we can’t really escape from predators all too well can we… then again besides humans I don’t think that the Tear-Drop Slime has any natural predators. I wonder what kind of jewelry I would be if humans captured me I thought to myself. I let out another sigh and decided to check up on that human in the corner. I start to move towards him again and realize again that my body won’t move. I look around for a moment trying to spot some kind of seal or binding, but I see nothing. It’s not the first time I’ve been a slime, they are quite fun actually, so I shouldn’t have any problem moving. I try to move towards the man again, and again I stop after realizing that I’m not moving. I start to rack my brain for a reason as to why I can't move despite not being inhibited by anything, and then it clicks: I only have 1 Movement Speed...
