Chapter one
"Congratulations Louise, you have successfully managed to create not only one contract but two on your first try." Mr Colbert was practically glowing with delight, for such a rare occasion to happen not once but twice maybe there was hope for her yet.
"It's because they were commoners, other wise she would have failed." Said mockingly by one of the students surrounding Louise, clearly he was in doubt at the fact that she even succeeded. His partner had the same mind it appeared as she backed him up.
"Yeah that's right, if the familiars was a powerful, no any magical beast instead she wouldn't have been able to make a contract." This caused some of the students to laugh mockingly at Louise.
Louise scowled at them. "Shut up, don't make fun of me! Even I can cast a spell properly once in a while!"
"That's right, as a noble we shouldn't make fun of her." Said a noble girl with bright blonde hair styled into long Victorian ringlets, with a red hair bow in the back, and freckles on her face.
"After all she could only cast a spell properly 'once in a while', which is why her runic name is Louise the Zero." Laughed the blonde girl.
"Mr. Colbert! Montmorency The Flood just insulted me!"
"Who are you calling 'The Flood'? I'm Montmorency the Fragrance!"
"I heard that you used to wet the bed like a flood, didn't you? 'The Flood' suits you better!"
"I hadn't expected better manners from Louise the Zero."
"Watch it! Nobles ought to show each other the proper respect." Mr colbert interjected before the two nobles started to fight amongst each other.
"..." Walking over to the Louise and the boy, I noticed that there was some kind of squabbling going on between Louise and a noble girl with bright blonde hair styled into long Victorian ringlets, with a red hair bow in the back, and freckles on her face. But it appeared the middle aged magus from before stopped the argument before it went out of hand.
"Well, let's go back to class, everyone." Mr Colbert said as he turned on his heel waving his wand to cast a spell, then started to levitate within the air. The other students followed his example and also floated up within the air.
"..." If I needed any more proof that this was another world, then I didn't need to look any further. It wasn't the fact that the students could levitate within the air or the fact that they could fly, as there was magecraft that could allow one to achieve the same feats. No it was the fact that for the first time I looked up within the sky I saw something that couldn't possibly exist with my reinforced eyes. There was two giant moons within the sky, each twice as large compared to the moon on earth.
The students who was floating quietly moved towards the stone walls of the castle in the distance, but a couple decided to make fun of Louise one last time.
"Louise, you'd better walk back!"
"She shouldn't try to fly. She can't even manage levitation."
"Have fun with your commoner familiars, they perfect for you Louise the zero!" the students jeered as they flew away, leaving behind an angry noble master with her two familiars.
"..." I noticed that while she didn't say anything in response, she was practically fuming with rage as a small crack could be heard from her stick. I decided that it was best to leave sleeping tigers lie so I walked over to the boy instead, which backfired heavily.
"YOU THERE LOWLY FAMILIAR, How dare you assault a maiden with such such " Louise stopped midway as she started to blush heavily when she recalled the incident.
"..." I went too far didn't I, to think she's still affected even now but maybe I could use this to my advantage? After all she did cause this mess to begin with and thus she should take responsibility for her actions. The only question is how far should I take it, I'm not exactly the brightest bulb when it comes to relationships but ...
My thoughts was interrupted by the boy beside me, I think he introduced himself as Saito Hiraga earlier when Louise was doing the same contracting ritual on me for him.
"Who are you? Where is this place?! Who were all those people?! Why can they fly?! What did you do to my body?!" Screamed Saito as he finally snapped from the stress.
"..." I don't know how the magi here works but if that boy tried that in my world he would be killed within a heartbeat. I couldn't sense any sort of magical energy aside from the runes coming from him, so he had no power to protect himself with. If he doesn't learn how to adapt and be subtle with his position I fear he would meet a grisly death, that being said I could use him as a way to get information without implicating myself.
"..." I moved in front of him just in case, I might have doomed a world and threw away my false ideals that perpetuated my existence. However it didn't mean I would watch an innocent albeit stupid person die in front of me when I could help, it would just feel wrong somehow as that meant the life I lived with Kiritsugu was meaningless.
Saito's sudden outburst snapped Louise out of her trance, causing her to respond in an haughty manner as she waved her stick around. "I don't know what backwoods you came from, but all right, I Louise Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière will explain it to you."
"Backwoods? This is the backwoods! Tokyo is nothing like this!"
If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
"..." Tokyo? was this boy also dragged here from my world? ... no he probably wasn't, he seemed too naive? for a world like mine, as I've seen the world when I was Kiritsugu's assistant and the effects of the 'dry spots' done on people and society as a whole. I could be wrong though considering that I've mostly been to war zones and disaster stricken places.
"Tokyo? What is that? What country is it in?" Louise asked in confusion as she didn't recall any place or location named like that.
"Japan."
"Never heard of it."
"Oh please as if! But why are they flying?! You saw it too! They flew! They all did!" Saito wasn't taking Louise seriously as if she didn't hear about Japan, rather he was more preoccupied with the fact that the students used magecraft.
"Hey you." He pointed to me as he continued on. "You agree with me right, that this place is the backwoods and that the people over there they flew."
"... I fear that you have no clue about the situation do you, do you recall going through a green portal? I think that we are in a different world, after all I don't recall Earth being this healthy and having two moons." I whispered softly to him as I didn't want Louise to find out just yet, now to see how he would react, depending on his response to the information I given, I could determine whenever or not he was from my world.
"What are you on about? two moons as if their can be ..." His voice trailed off as he looked into the sky and there it was, two giant moons hanging within the blue sky. His face slowly changing as he was shocked by this new information.
"..." He reacted slightly when I mentioned the green portal. He also reacted to the word Earth but he didn't react to the word healthy meaning he probably isn't from my world as everyone knew that the world was far from healthy it was dying.
"Of course they flew. What would we do if mages couldn't fly?" Louise said as she answered Saito's question from earlier.
"Hey are you guys even listening to me!" Louise started to shout at us as our attention was elsewhere, Saito was still trying to make sense of the situation, while I was focusing on studying his expressions for information.
"That's it I have had enough of your insolence as your master I command you to ." Louise attempted to cast a spell but I interrupted her by holding her shoulders while asking her a question.
"Lady Vallière may I ask you a question? Why have we been summoned into this world and where are we?" For a second I considered flattering my so called master playing the part of a proper servant, but that could be detrimental in the long run for various reasons not to mention I wasn't exactly in the best of moods.
"unnnn."
"Milady?" What was with her, why did she clam up all of a sudden all I did was hold her shoulders and asked her a simple question.
"Unhand me you you you brute." She shouted as she tried to shrug off my hands but she was far too weak to even make them budge.
"..." Letting my hands go she backed off defensively, waving her little stick in front of her in an defensive manner. That stick must be some kind of mystic code, in that case it would be prudent of me to find out its capabilities. Taking a quick glance at her wand I went through the steps of tracing.
Judging the concept of creation. It's primary use is to act as a conduit and focus for the user's magical energy so they could cast spells.
Hypothesizing the basic structure. A wand shaped to resemble a sword as the handle is thickened with a circular cross guard that has a tapered end. A unique type of lacquer was used giving it a matte black finish.
Duplicating the composition material. Black walnut wood was used for its construction.
Imitating the skill of its making. Created by Alistair a retired noble mage that specialises in the creation of wands and staffs.
Sympathizing with the experience of its growth. The wand is always been by Louise's side ever since it's was gifted to her.
Reproducing the accumulated years. It has been one year since it's creation, so far all the spells that Louise tried through the wand has backfired in one way or another creating an explosion instead. To date the amount of successful magic used with this wand could be counted on ones hand.
Excelling every manufacturing process. Louise's wand, it was gifted to her when the letter arrived with her successful enrolment to Tristain Academy of Magic.
"..." That was a mystic code? It's only purpose is to act as a conduit for magical energy and to focus said magical energy? So basically it acts as a pathway for the magical energy to actualise the mystery, so if they needed this the magi here don't have magic circuits do they? In which case this makes them extremely vulnerable for without their wands they can't use their version of magecraft.
"HAHAHA. This must be a dream yes of course I must be dreaming, as if there could be two moons on earth and that people could fly." Saito started to laugh hysterically as he convinced himself that he must be dreaming in order to cope with the current situation.
"..." He didn't breakdown did he?
Startled by his sudden outburst Louise pointed her wand to Saito before angrily putting it down as she snapped. "What is wrong with you commoner, have you no manners is that how you greet your master."
"Louise hit me." Saito said seriously as he slowly walked up to her. For a second I thought he wanted me to hit him but he must have changed his mind midway as he walked towards her instead.
"... What did you just say?" I could see the disbelief in Louise's face as she struggled to process what her familiar just said.
"Please, hit me in the head as hard as you can."
"Why?"
"I want to wake up from this dream. I'm gonna wake up and go on the computer to play some games and surf the net. Besides my mom told me that tonight's dinner is going to be one of my favourites hamburger steak."
"Computer?"
"No, it's nothing. After all, you're just a part of my dream, so you don't need to worry about it. Now please just let me escape this dream already." Saito asked in desperation as he faced Louise, his hands stretching out to hold Louise's shoulders.
"I don't know what you're talking about, but you just want me to hit you, right?" Louise took a step back before clenching her hands into fists.
"Yes, please."
Her fists began to tremble. Louise's expression became clouded as it seemed a lot of thoughts were going through her head. "Aren't you concerned at all about being summoned like him?" She pointed in my direction using her wand, come to think of it didn't he interrupt me when I was just about to receive answers.
"How should I know? Look, will you just get it over and done with? I hate nightmares?"
"..." This boy was slowly getting onto my nerves, this charade has gone on for too long if he wanted to be hit so badly then.
"Saito clench your teeth." I might as well release part of my stress on him.
"What wait I don't." Saito obviously didn't expect me to come towards him with my fist raised, he probably chose Louise over me as a girl was much weaker than a boy.
"..." I ignored his protests as I drove my fist into his gut. I made sure to hold back but I might have misjudged the power as he collapsed onto the grass with a single blow.
"Are you okay?" I asked him out of concern but he didn't respond to my words, he didn't get knocked out by just this did he?
"Cough What was that for." Saito screamed at me as he doubled over in pain unable to move a single muscle.
"Didn't you ask to get hit?" I asked him innocuously as I offered my hand to help him up which he accepted begrudgingly.
"Not you, Louise I said Louise." Grumbled Saito as he put his arm over my shoulder for support.
"But I guess this isn't a dream." I could feel the anxiety within his voice and his strength leaving him as he went limp. He was probably exhausted both mentally and physically. Turning to my so called master I asked her a simple question.
"Lady Vallière I think its best if we head back?"
