Deadly Encounter (3)

Deadly Encounter (3)

When approaching the abandoned factory, a blinding light burst forth. The explosion left a gaping hole in the wall, revealing a breathtaking sight.

Arthur, clad in crystal armor that sparkled in the light, stood with his red wings spread wide. He wore a crow mask that hid his face, the red glow emanating from the eyeholes gave a menacing look. He was engaged in a fierce battle with Bianca and The Black Witch, their weapons clashing in a cacophony of metal and magic. Behind the two sorceresses, lay Kiara tied up and unconscious.

"Now that is a fight," I mumbled in awe.

Arthur moved with lightning-fast speed, striking Bianca with blow after blow that she struggled to parry. But she was not one to be easily defeated. Bianca transformed into a swarm of dark lightning and unleashed torrents of thunder javelins at Arthur, who dodged and stumbled backward, driving his sword into the ground to steady himself.

Smirking arrogantly, The Black Witch taunted Arthur, "Hmph, what's wrong Artie? Does your sweet honeymoon dull your fang? Oh, how could I forget, you're friend-zoned, hahaha!"

"… Don't call me that, Old Hag!" Arthur grunted.

"What did you say?" The Black Witch got mad.

Suddenly, Arthur's entire being erupted in fiery red light, scorching him into an avenging inferno. His wings became razor-sharp, sword-like blades, shimmering with dark aura that thirsty for blood. "Release The Doctor!" Arthur growled, charging forward with a deadly sword dance. His dance became more powerful along with a spin from his very sharp blade wings, breaking Bianca's magic barrier.

"Phew. that is close," The Black Witch interrupted Arthur's deadly strike with her dagger. Before Arthur could react, she vanished into the shadows, leaving behind only a haunting echo of her laughter. Suddenly, hundreds of ethereal attacks followed, testing Arthur's quick reflexes and skill.

But just as he thought he had deflected every strike, thin steel threads suddenly wrapped around his body, paralyzing his movements. He hadn't noticed that the Black Witch had cunningly orchestrated the barrage of attacks as a means to bind him. She emerged from the darkness, channeling her formidable power into a massive scythe, ready to deliver the final blow.

"Even though my face looks like an innocent girl, I hold deep grudges," The Black Witch chuckled darkly. "This is how everyone who betrays me ends!"

The air trembled as she swung her scythe, unleashing an overwhelming power that seemed to devour all light, plunging the surroundings into a realm of darkness. The shockwave cracked the ground, and walls crumbled before the sheer force. It was a terrifying power, What a terrifying power, just like the gods of the past!

When the dust settled, Arthur's left-wing lying on the ground next to him, severed as the cost of dodging the fatal hit. It was a close call to death if not for his quick wits! But damn, Arthur pushed himself too far and couldn't fight anymore. No, I couldn't let Arthur fall; he meant too much to me. Who would I pay for my food if he were gone? I had to find a way to save him!

"Dammit, think, Princess, think," I mumbled as I grasped my head. There had to be a way to turn the tide!

That was when my eyes caught something interesting at the corner of the factory wall—a giant crane hanging on a thin chain. Could I use it to my advantage? With a swift motion, I slit my wrist, causing thin threads of my blood to shoot out and attach themselves to the chain. Quietly, I scaled the factory wall, ascending to the top of the chain.

My plan was simple - create a distraction to draw the enemy's attention away from Arthur. If I could lure these monsters away from him long enough, maybe he could make a break for it. I sharpened my claws and strengthened them with my blood, ready to execute my plan.

Please, work it out!

Taking a deep breath to steady my nerves, I focused on the task at hand. With a single powerful strike, I slashed at the chain, causing it to snap off. "Over here!" I shouted, my voice echoing defiantly throughout the area.

Bianca and The Black Witch stared at me, clearly surprised. They watched as the crane began to tumble towards them, ready to crush them under its weight. But to my dismay, The Black Witch hit the falling crane with her giant scythe, tossing it back at me with incredible speed.

"Shite!" I cursed, my reflexes kicking in as I narrowly dodged the hurtling crane. The impact caused a massive dust explosion, shrouding the area in a cloud of chaos and confusion. It was in that moment that I relied on another secret weapon – the threads I had secretly spread around the building while scaling it earlier.

Concealed by the dust and debris, I used the threads to land gracefully in front of Arthur. With a quick nod, I implored him to seize the chance and run away. But that idiot suddenly fell unconscious! Dammit, be more sensitive, Artie!

Burst of wind swept away all of the dust. Recognizing me, Bianca eyes widened as she mumbled,

"... The Blood Witch."

The Black Witch crossed her arms, "So, she was the one who beat you to a pulp? Are you kidding, Bianca? She's a Daemon. I can't sense any magic on her," The Black Witch smirked, "Could it be, The Thundering Pulse is so busy nursing orphans that she forgot how to fight?"

Bianca suddenly cast her wind blade around The Black Witch while shouting, "... My Lady, didn't Pater always say never to underestimate your opponent?" That magic slice through the thin thread that I spread quietly.

So, she noticed. I was this close to decapitate both of them. Not that I was really going for that, it just to create a powerful enough threat to be bargaining chip. But alas, the plan was foiled.

The Black Witch looked amused, "Trying to kill us with these cheap tricks. I thought you'd be more interesting than this, Blood Witch."

I scratched my head, "Well... Now that my plan is ruined, how about I ask you nicely?"

The Black Witch crossed her arm confused, "Do you think our problem could be solved by talking?"

I nodded, "Of course! A peaceful solution is the best, girlie. So... can you release Kiara? In turn, I can give you something interesting," I asked.

The Black Witch burst into laughter, dismissing my attempt to negotiate. "You really think you can talk me out of this? How amusing," she sneered, then continued arrogantly, "Bianca, I agreed to help you kill the traitor, but securing your objectives? Don't be naive. Go do it yourself, prove your worth as a Lector."

Her wicked smile sent shivers down my spine as The Black Witch added, "Or else... You know what would happen to the children, right?"

"I know," Bianca replied, her face paling at the threat. Whatever The Black Witch meant, it struck fear in Bianca's heart. The desperation in her eyes reminded me of The Heroes I had faced in the past. It was just a flicker moment, but I noticed a mark shone faintly in her eyes.

Is that... Seed of The Hero? No, it couldn't be. I was just imagining things.

"Ignition!" Bianca's voice boomed, unleashing a surge of tremendous power that overwhelmed me.

Oh my, this is bad. She can use Ignition too? But this power... she's way above Denova. "This is getting interesting," I continued, failing to hide smile in my face.
