“Fuck you have no talent!” cried Luna.
“I am good at fighting not this bullshit!” Lucifer yelled in anger at the comment of her’s.
“Well if you wanna get better at fighting, then do better now! Or else you'll be useless. Honestly.”
“Let me see you try doing something your body doesn't naturally do before I hear that shit!”
“You bastard watch!” Luna exclaimed as she pushed her upper body into the air and proceeded to walk around on her hindlegs. “See, I can do that non-natural shit easy.”
“Oh my fucking hell. Ok go over the process again before I lose my fucking mind.”
“This is the 58th time! I am sick of explaining!”
“Then give me the short hand version!”
“Idiot there isn't a shorthand version. Oh fuck it.” Luna gave up as she was almost completely fed up with Lucifer's so called lack of talent.
“Look at your Core. Summon your Elements. Blast your Core with them. Your Core will fight back since this is subconsciously not what you want to do. So; for the last fucking time, just keep going. Remember both Elements together is the key for you or else it's all a waste of time.”
“Fuck, here goes nothing.”
Thinking of the new or proper way that Luna taught him about summoning his Elements, Lucifer did his best to draw them both out. Light: the power of life and yang. Dark: the power of death and yin. Both being primal and chaotic yet created the basis of everything. Light being yang and positive in nature was wild and free. Dark as the polar opposite of Light had a negative nature that was calm and static. Trying to connect with these two natural opposites while at the same time trying to force them to act together was showing incredibly difficult for Lucifer. Despite the two Elements perfect harmony in nature, Lucifer found their connection abstract and utterly bewildering.
“Fuck how do the Gaies grant two Elemental favors to someone so stupid?” Luna exclaimed after another 2 months of repeated failures.
“They are naturally a pair so why do you not see them as such!”
“How can life and death be a pair? Is a carcass the same as a body full of life? No they are completely different.” Lucifer snapped back as he argued. “Oh another thing! Are Gods not immortal? So life and death are not always linked together. The God of the Abyss and Dark has never died, does that mean he is dead already or is he death given form?”
“You are thinking too deeply about this! Gods may be immortal but they are part of a different cycle of existence. Is a tree the same as a Beast? No! Different beings follow different rules. Gods are needed to balance and guide the life of Gaies, while the life of Gaies can attain godship there are restrictions. But this matters not! You only need to call forth life and death, Light and Dark, yang and yin and ask them to aid you.” Luna moaned in grievance at how much Lucifer seemed to be overthinking the process.
“When you called upon the Dark to make your [Dark Cladding] did you not just will the Dark to come and it heeded your call? Do the same for Light if it makes it easier for you.”
Accepting the advice Lucifer began to try and make a Light version of [Dark Cladding]. Drawing upon the Light in the same manner as he did for the Dark spell, Lucifer simply expressed a thought to the Element to form like the reciprocal spell. Though inherently opposing, Light and Dark understand and coexist peacefully together. So the difficulty of making the Light version of the spell was not big. It was the understanding of what was happening that truly lost Lucifer.
After a second of thought the Light responded. Gathering around Lucifer as if his entire body was a shining star in the sky, the Light shone brightly. As if in response to some insane thought the Light began to condense and shrink. It became not as bright but it still could blind anyone foolish enough to look into it, but what was truly amazing was the way it formed. It created a suit of blinding light around Lucifer, making him seem like the embodiment of Light. He could shine as bright as the star that that Gaies circled, or as dim as the embers of an extinguished fire. Lucifer truly was clad in Light.
[Light Cladding] and [Dark Cladding] two completely different spells that acted the exact same. [Light Cladding] allowed Lucifer to cover his body in Light effectively becoming the Element, he could bend the light around him, control it in a very basic sense. It would cause Lucifer to gain a semi physical armour of Light. While only being semi physical, the spell created an enhanced version of Spellblade's [Mana Armour]. [Dark Cladding] let Lucifer enter the shadows or darkness of night in its most basic usages, an effective ‘stealth’ persay. When pushed to the limits the spell could allow Lucifer temporary control of his own shadow and the shadows and darkness he touched, for an instant. Although brief, the implications were immense when used properly. This added ability of [Dark Cladding] was mostly due to Luna's bonding ceremony. The ceremony gave Lucifer a deeper understanding and connection to the Dark Element, allowing him to further control it for his own uses.

These two spells while being amazing and ingenious had terrible fallbacks. They were impossible to be taught, no one besides Lucifer and a primarch like him could use such complex and advanced spells without centuries of study. The most long lived races; besides draconians, live to about 120 years. By the time even the most talented warrior understands the spell it would already be useless for them as they would be dead. Even a draconian would be better suited to simply using their pure Mana as a shield instead of learning the spell. Their Mana would just create a concussive blast to mitigate damage, but it would be much less efficient than Lucifer's spells.
It took Lucifer two solid days to understand his spells alone. It took months of intense practice and live combat for the spells to even have any purpose other than light stealth capabilities.
After a day or so, Lucifer had successfully used [Dark Cladding] during the night to sneak into Lark City and drop off the dead bodies of both Lukas and Ethel at the Trade’s outpost in the city. Not leaving before he executed some nosy people that were watching the building's door. Looting the corpses for gold he then proceeded to walk out of the city without a soul knowing. He even waited in the Talk’s peripheral underbrush for an entire day for any trackers but found none even by the evening of the following day.
Month two after entering training, he managed to use [Light Cladding] to sneak up on the now docile Rank 3 Flash Lynx. Scaring the Beast and causing the it to run in terror from his sudden appearance in the Beast’s own den.
With that came a lull in his training, with no luck or breakthroughs he passed through another month. It was not until Luna had used the her Element to create lengthened claws; during one of their now ritual spars, did he attain enlightenment. Throwing the match and running to the now cleaned clearing of the cabin, Lucifer ran to his training field. Drawing forth [Light Cladding] and willing it to concentrate he formed the armoured version of [Light Cladding] but not before coming up with a better name for the new addition. [Gold Mail]. With the new spell made Lucifer began to work on creating the Dark version.
But alas the Dark Element seemed unwilling to work as he wished it. It would always become liquid like whenever he willed it to condense. He understood and could form a Dark [Elemental Spear], but that was a two-leg way of using Mana as Luna would have said. But forming condensed Dark Element seemed impossible as it was liquid and not solid. It took Lucifer an entire half month of time before he found what could be the key to the spell.
Water. Water was liquid and also the most common liquid. But water became ice when cold. So Lucifer reasoned his intentions were not 'cold’ enough for the Dark to accept it. So he became cold. Ruthless in his demeanor, commanding the Dark to form into a replica of his sword. The Element responded instantly. It gathered like mist towards Lucifer's outstretched hand before slowly shaping into a replica of his cleaving sword. Only a quarter of the size. No matter what Lucifer tried the Dark would not respond to his urges to grow at all. Chalking it up to his skill, Lucifer named the new spell: [Shadow Armory].
Luna seeing his progress gave him some insight to his issue. His Mana could not commune clearly enough with the Element, showing that his Mana Purity lacked significantly for the complexity of the spell he was trying to make. Though this situation would eventually become resolved another glaring issue appeared. Both spells were incredibly fragile when it clashes against anything harder than a Rank 3 Beast hide or a weapon or armour of the equivalent rank. Also they exhausted all of his Mana to cast for only a 30 second time frame. Even spread out into 5 second rounds, Lucifer could only cast the spells 5 times in any combination before his Mana was emptied.
A numerical representation would show that although Lucifer could cast either [Gold Mail] or [Shadow Armoury] for 30 seconds at most, he could only activate the spell in short bursts for an even less time. The initial activation costs were heavy. So while being amazing spells they were completely useless to have for real combat. Last minute situations and a hidden ace, were their only purposes currently.
“Lucifer you are an idiot.” Luna called as Lucifer cast another [Shadow Armoury] bolt at the Beast he was currently experimenting on. The Beast; a Rank 2 Mid Order, Cobalt Salamander. Possessed amazing defense as a Metal Element Beast and still had great mobility making it a worthy test dummy for Lucifer.
“I just made primal spells and you call me an idiot!” Lucifer shouted as he drew his cleaver and beheaded the Beast after his spell tore a hole through its flank. The Beast was barely left alive from the destruction of the spell and could offer no resistance to its cruel execution. Lucifer turned to the wolf behind him and snapped back in exclaim.
“What are you talking about? Primal?”
“It is the primal form of the Elements given form! These use the most base and common form of the Elements instead of using Mana as the basis and adding the Elements after!” Lucifer bluntly replied as if he was stating the obvious. Luna on the other hand only cocked her head as if saying ‘the fuck,’ prompting Lucifer to exasperatedly explain.
“Look at the basic [Elemental Spear],” Lucifer spoke as he casted the spell. Forming a spear of Light Element and Mana the spell took form in his hand. “It is first gathered Mana then the Element is added into it, creating the spell truly. My primal spells are fundamentally different! I use my connection with the Element to will it into form then use my Mana to give it substance and power. It's completely different and exponentially stronger!” He explained as he casted a [Shadow Armoury] version of the basic spell and smashed it through the first spear of light.
“Let's fight then. Show me the power of this primal magic.” Luna taunted as she felt the power of this new magic. She had made huge improvements over the almost four month break. An urge to prove herself welled up in her as she thought back to the savage beat down Lucifer gave her before.
