The King and Queen of the Twilight clan, renowned for their dark powers, arrived just before dawn at the gates of the royal palace. Wearing their enchanted jewellery, they could venture out during the day, but they preferred the cover of the night.
King Aerin and Queen Estel greeted them warmly and invited them inside for a meal in the dining room.
The Twilight clan, known for their preference for blood-based cuisine, was unique in that they only sourced their food from willing donors or beasts. They were not a dark vamprin clan, who would take blood from others unwillingly.
King Aerin ensured that their guests would have ample blood food during their stay, and if need be, he would order more.
As everyone settled in for their meal, King Aerin introduced the guests to one another. There was King Bane and Queen Valeria, Princess Esme, the Queen of Dragons Safira, her Lord Commander Drac, the young Damian, and Fenris and Kiron.
Everyone bowed to Queen Safira and exchanged greetings before taking their seats. Drac struggled to contain his laughter as Princess Esme rushed to sit next to Prince Logon, a beautiful sight of young love.
Queen Safira was pleased to see the princess's affection for Prince Logon and hoped that their love would blossom.
Queen Valeria, meanwhile, was struck by Damian's eyes and asked, "Your Majesty, where is he from? Those eyes are truly striking."
Queen Safira, leader of the Twilight Clan, speaks with a hint of caution in her voice. "Please, let's keep this between us. We don't know where he's from or what race he belongs to."
Queen Valeria's eyes widen in surprise. She nods, eager to avoid angering a powerful God Beast. "Of course, Your Majesty. May I ask, do you know his rank?"
"Yes, I can share that much. Damian's power level is measured only in the realm of the Powered," Queen Safira reveals.
King Bane and Queen Valeria gasp in shock, realizing the danger this information could bring if it were to spread. They quickly agree to keep it a secret.
Just then, the call for classes echoes through the halls. Damian, who has been attending classes on his own since yesterday, is making great progress, much to the envy of Queen Safira who wishes to join him but remains seated.
Drac changes the subject, asking about the Twilight Clan's residence.
"We stay on the dark side of Moon Lou. Our castle is protected from the sun's light, while the werewolves reside on Moon Rou," King Bane explains.
Drac intrigued remarks on the Twilight Clan's aversion to the sun. "So you don't like the sun, unlike the vampires of the Immortal Sky River. That's why your skin is pale," he observes.
King Bane nods in agreement. "Our new jewellery allows us to venture into the sun, but we still prefer the night."
Unable to resist, Queen Safira interjects, "What do you think of Prince Logon and your daughter together?"
Drac, not wanting to get involved, excuses himself to check on the Dragon Clan. Fenris, however, decides to join the conversation and see how the younger generation is faring. Kiron, meanwhile, has been told by Drac to train, but for what purpose remains a mystery.
Queen Valeria reveals that her daughter, Esme, can't stop talking about Prince Logon's beauty. King Aerin and Queen Estel are taken aback, but Queen Safira is overjoyed by the news. The group continues to chat and get to know each other for hours.
...
Back in class, Damian is learning how to form complete sentences about the ways of the world, talking only about the planet and a few other things.
"Listen up, Damian," began the tutor, "when your birthday comes, you'll be a year older at the stroke of midnight. That's how age is calculated, based on the day you were born."
He then went on to explain the ranks in the Emmortal Milky Lane, where all races were born Emmortal, unlike other places. "There are main races here," he said, "counting the moons: Forest Elfs, Water Elfs, Fire Elfs, Vamprins, Werewolphs, and Orcs."
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
As he spoke, he projected images of each race, watching as Damian tensed at the sight of the orcs but then relaxed as he understood they were different from Orges.
The tutor delved into the history of the planet, sharing how the Elfs had been at war for millennia, each vying for supremacy. The Fire Elfs were losing, while the Water Elfs, who lived on the sea, were the most powerful. The Forest Elfs had only been involved in a few skirmishes.
In contrast, the Vamprins and Werewolphs got along famously, both being creatures of the night. And the peaceful Orcs simply wanted to train and become strong, not bothering with the conflicts of other races.
The tutor then showed Damian the world through a projection, pointing out where each race lived and the moons that housed the Vamprins and Werewolphs.
"I'll start teaching you a little Elven today," he said. "Your homework will be to write out the alphabet."
Just as the tutor was about to explain the different clans on the planet, another tutor walked in, announcing it was time for training. Damian was allowed to watch as they sparred and also had to participate in physical exercises like running, weightlifting, skipping, climbing, and swimming.
As the kids headed to the gym, Damian chatted with Princess Aeryn while Prince Logon and Princess Esme stuck together. The coach told them to run laps until they were tired and then stretch.
Prince Logon touched Damian's shoulder. "Brother, it's your first time doing physical training. Don't push yourself too hard. There's always tomorrow."
They both have been calling him brother cause they don't see him as any less.
"Thanks, I will try not to let you down, Brother," Prince Logon nods at Damian, who is about to begin their morning training session.
The two of them, along with Princess Aeryn and Princess Esme, start running around the training ground. Princess Aeryn is the first to give up after 1.5 laps and starts stretching, closely followed by Princess Esme who struggles to complete 2.25 laps. Prince Logon gives up after 6 laps, exhausted, but is surprised to see that Damian hasn't even broken a sweat.
"How is his stamina so high?" Princess Esme gasps, still panting heavily.
"I don't know, I've never run before so I have no clue," Damian shrugs, genuinely unaware of his physical abilities.
"Well done, Bro. I'm impressed," Prince Logon says, still catching his breath.
Coach announces their next task, "Alright kids, skipping time minimum of 150, maximum of 300".
The four of them start skipping, Princess Aeryn trips up on 70 but continues, and Prince Logon gets sidetracked by Princess Esme and slaps his head at 93, causing everyone to burst into laughter. Princess Esme makes it to 180 with ease, but Princess Aeryn stops at 160 and Prince Logon reaches 300, same as Damian, but to their surprise, Damian doesn't stop once.
"Break for 5 minutes then we're gonna use the weights, two of you at the pull weight and the other two at the smashing weight," Coach orders.
The weights are not heavy, so they all complete the task with ease.
Coach then leads them to a high wall and announces, "Alright, let's get you all dressed up. Damian, this is a magnetic outfit, so if you get tired, you let go and drop. When you get close to the floor, the reverse poles will cause you to float."
Damian nods and gets into the outfit, ready for the next challenge.
"What do you think we can reach? Wanna bet?" Prince Logon asks, eager to compete with his brother.
The wall is 20m high and 10m wide, with a rotation mechanism at the last 5m to calculate the distance. It's time for the final test of their strength and endurance.
"Please, Logon," Princess Aeryn said with a sideward glance, "you can win this time. Your last record was 54m, after all."
"I believe I can beat that," Princess Esme chimed in, her eyes fixed on the climbing wall.
Logon's brows furrowed, he remembered his previous record as a fluke. He quickly tried to change the subject, "Alright, let's climb just for fun then. Damian's first time here, after all."
Everyone agreed even the coach who rolled his eyes and added, "Just make sure you go higher than 20m this time."
"Start!"
Princess Aeryn managed to reach 34m before falling, and Logon reached 44m before tumbling down, but Princess Esme and Damian kept climbing higher. Esme made it to an impressive 74m, with Damian only stopping 5m short.
"Bro, that was insane!" Logon said, giving Damian a high five. "You climb so well."
"Thanks, bro," Damian replied with a smile.
"Alright, let's go for a swim," the coach called out. "And then we'll do combat training. Damian, I've been told you can only observe today."
The group headed to the changing rooms, putting on their swimsuits before coming out to play a round of Hunter N Prey in the pool.
AN:" Hunter N Prey is like Marco Polo, except you are allowed to go under the water, you don't make a noise you hit the water or splash it "
After thirty minutes, they were called out to do five lengths and then prepare for combat training.
...
Hours later, after a gruelling session of combat training and skill practices, the kids were exhausted but starving. As they sat down for dinner, Queen Safira brought up a serious topic.
"Damian, do you by any chance remember who your parents are?" she asked, her eyes fixed on him for an answer.
Damian sat at the table, his eyes downcast as he spoke of his troubled past. Queen Safira listened intently, her heart aching for the young man in front of her.
"No, my memory is bad," Damian started, his voice shaking slightly. "I woke up in a forest, wondering for what felt like days, maybe longer. I blacked out a lot and eventually, some bandits caught me. They beat me up, took my clothing, and I lost time again."
Queen Safira frowned, her anger starting to boil beneath the surface.
"What happened next, Damian?" she asked softly.
"They sold me to an old man," Damian continued. "He wasn't very friendly and he would whip me. I ran away one day and ended up caught by something strange. Then, a group came and chained me up, transporting me until a group of Orges killed them for food."
Queen Safira's eyes widened, and she could feel the anger radiating off of her. "What did the Orges do to you?" she asked, her voice barely above a crying whisper.
"They kept me as their plaything in a cave for what felt like ages," Damian replied, shrugging his shoulders. "One night, one of them got hungry and ripped off my fingers. The rest of them showed up and started ripping off my other fingers and toes, laughing as they did so."
The adults at the table released their power, their anger matching Queen Safira's. Her wave of energy overpowered theirs, her concern for Damian overriding everything else.
"After a while, they found it funny to watch me cry and scream," Damian continued, his voice monotone. "They started burning me, beating me, breaking my ribs, and even made me break my fingers like this," he does it
Queen Safira gasped and jumped up, rushing to Damian and grabbing his hand. "Please, please don't ever do that again," she cried, tears streaming down her face. "Why would you do that?"
Damian shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know. It doesn't hurt," he replied, his voice lacking emotion.
The adults were startled by what Damian had just done. The children tried not to faint or freak out, while some of the adults wondered how he could not feel pain. His hex was meant to amplify pain, yet he showed no reaction.
Queen Safira cried even harder. "What did they do to you, Damian, to not feel pain?" she asked, her voice choking on her tears.
After a long talk and making sure Damian was alright, they all decided to go to bed. It had been a long day, and they all needed some rest. Queen Safira made sure to heal Damian's hand before they all retired for the night.
As she lay in bed, Queen Safira couldn't shake the feeling of anger and sadness. She made a promise to herself to find out what had happened to Damian and make sure it never happened again.
