“Alright, we’re clear to move.”
The three of us—Davis, Alex, and I—ran from cover to cover, clearing the area to make sure we were safe to move.
Unlike our fortress, that consists of one central building, the other team built a plethora of medium sized towers that could fit maybe three stories within them. From what we could see, there were ten of these things, one of which probably contains the core.
We dashed along the shade of the tower, and rested at its side.
“This is way different from what we were told.” said Davis.
“What do we do now?” Alex questioned. “We can’t go through each tower one by one, that’ll take too long”
I rubbed my chin, trying to think of a solution. Our team was planning to stall Arthur so that we could grab the core before the other team could. We were planning to slip through the defenses here and grab the core. But it seems like their team had a similar plan; To stall us so that Arthur could grab the core first.
We can’t contact homebase from across the barrier, so we have to execute this plan as quickly as possible. “We should split up and search three towers at a time. They’re probably split up as well so it’ll be okay to go apart from each other.”
“Wait,” said Alex. “What if they’re all huddled around their core in a group? If one of us walked into that, we'd be disarmed immediately.”

That’s true. If nine of these towers are just dummies and the real one has upwards to seven people defending it, we wouldn’t stand a chance. “But would they leave all the other towers with zero personnel?” I questioned.
“There could just be traps inside the dummy towers or other devices to slow us down,” Davis suggested.
“True…”

Hello Readers!
You’re probably wondering: Why is this chapter so short? The answer is simple.
I didn’t finish it.
And this isn’t for no reason either! Cue the drumroll!
Du…
Du…
Dudududududududu-
Surprise! I’m rewriting the story!
I’m not sure who might be reading this, but I’m sure you’ve noticed that my story is a liiiittle bit inconsistent here and there.
And by here and there, I mean all the time.
The world building is a mess, my characters have no depth, and my timeline and plot progression is set to autopilot on a plane with no sensors… yeah, bad joke.
But you get the point. I’ll be altering the plot, and with it, the world will be expanded. Of course, the initial concept will remain, including the Magic System I devised and the world I constructed.
I can’t say I’ll be writing and posting faster, but I’ll be sure to have a long buffer and try to keep myself on top of the writing.
When I began writing this story, I promised something you guys would enjoy and something that would constantly improve. As of now, I cannot promise the enjoyment part of that promise.
But I can work to show the improvements and changes that I feel will progress my story further beyond the boundary, and whether it be for you guys, or for my own vain enjoyment, I hope that this will become a great story that follows the great, magnificent, and imaginative tale that came to me one fateful day,
