Welcome to the new world

Welcome to the new world

As I slowly close my eyes, the desperate crying of Sam and the sensation of her hand touching mine starts to fade. My eyes finally close and everything become dark. I feel as my hearing starts to fail me and even the warmth from my wound starts to weaken. I feel something wet on my face. It’s even started to rain?

I open my eyes one last time. My blurry vision is filled with my girlfriend’s familiar face. It reflects grief and despair as tears are flooding from her swollen eyes. Her mouth is moving and supposedly she is talking about something. No, it looks more like she is screaming. But I can’t make out the words anymore.

My vision starts to fade. I opened my mouth and try to say something… but I hesitate. I don’t know what to say. Should I apologize? Or tell her how much I love her? I just want to say something! But before I can muster the strength, my vision turns black again and I can’t feel the pain anymore…

As I hover in the black void without feeling anything, a strange warmth starts to spread through my lips. I unintentionally smile, but the sensation fades quickly.

Suddenly something blindingly white takes over my vision. I immediately close my eyes and try to cover them with my hands, but I can’t block the whiteness. What is this? A hospital light? The brightness lasts for a few more seconds. Then as suddenly as it came it’s gone now.

As I watch the cold and familiar darkness again, I feel something hitting my legs. Now I feel an odd phenomenon. It’s like… I’m falling.

I open my eyes and see that as I fall I approach something. I try to put my hands in front of me to ease the impact, but I feel a gripping sensation at the side of my shoulders. Somebody couth me? Who? I look up and I see a man’s face. Who is he? Is he a doctor? But before I can study the face more the grip on my shoulders become stronger and now the hands are pushing me away.

I try to support myself with one of my legs but when I try to move it, it feels unusually heavy. I can’t move it fast enough. I stumble and start to fall again. What is this? I close my eyes as I prepare myself for the impact. Where am I? I fall and this time, I hit the ground.

I look up and for the first time, I start to notice my surroundings. We are in a small room with a single plain bed in it. Because of the lack of windows, the room is dimly lit by a torch. The man who tossed me away is standing next to the open door and it looks like he’s wearing something like a plate armor.

Anger and disgust distorts the man’s face. He starts to close the distance between us while he is shouting at me. I don’t understand a single word. He stops next to me whilst I’m just dumbfoundedly watching what’s happening around me.

He stands there, still shouting something, as he looks more and more angry with every moment. In the end, he snaps and start to swing his leg. It happens so suddenly I can’t react in time. He kicks me in the side with his metal shoe.

I cry out in pain as his leg and my side collide. It’s weird. It sounded nothing like my voice. But I have no time thinking about that as he already starts his second kick. In panic, I grab his left leg, which he is standing on, and pull it with as much strength as I can. He loses his balance, misses the kick, and falls on his back. He hits the ground with his head.

I get up and walk next to him with heavy steps, I see that he hit his head in something that looks like a stone doorstep and a small pool of blood started to gather around his head.

I sit down and lay my back against the wall. I close my eyes and take some deep breaths as I try to figure out what the hell is going on. I start to recall what just happened but when I smell the blood I glance at the man.

He doesn’t move a single inch and the amount of blood on the floor just increases by the minute. I’m confused and exhausted from everything that I just gone through, I have no spare strength to feel compassion about someone who just attacked me. I rise my head to look around one more time in the plain room and for the first time, I notice that somebody else is there too.

She stands in the corner of the room and as our eyes meet she immediately crouches and try to hide herself with her hands as she is naked. I avert my eyes and call out to her but something is weird. It’s not my usual voice. Maybe because of the exhaustion? I try to say something again but I hear the same unfamiliar voice.

I tilt my head forward and try to cough a little to clear my throat, but something starts to block the corner of my vision. I turn there and I see something that reminds me of hair, but it’s nothing like mine.

I start to touch my head and instead of my short hair I feel something long with my hands. Its color also changed from deep brown to the exact same bright blond as the girl’s who is still crouching in the corner. Now that I start to inspect my body I discover a lot of changes.

From the recognition that my legs are chained together, to the fact that my chest is rather large. Boobs? I have a bad feeling. I’m touching between my legs searching but I don’t find what I’m looking for. What is this? Just how??

As I have no idea what’s happening to me I approach the girl in the corner to ask for some explanation. She seems to be scared as I walk to her. While I close the distance, she stands up with unsteady legs and starts to back away. WHA? She walks straight into the wall and now she is halfway in it.

I stop and rub my eyes in disbelief, but she’s just slowly backing away as the wall absorbs her body. The moment her head disappears in the wall she runs out screaming and crying from where she disappeared.

Her eyes and face indicate terror as she runs toward me. I try to catch her but she runs straight through my body and out of the room...

Now I’m just standing there, looking at the door… with my eyes and mouth wide open.
