A Visit From Cupid Ch 1
-------------------------------------------------------------------
My aunt told me that before I was born, my dad left the house and disappeared without a trace. Due to this, my mother was in depression while she was carrying me in her womb, so she passed away after she gave birth to me. Both of my parents left my side before I was even a year old.
Because of my father, I never had a parent to celebrate my first birthday, to see my first steps, my first everything. I never had a real childhood. I was an orphan. I lived with my aunt since I came out of the hospital. She was a kind woman, but she still isn't my mother.
I developed a trauma when my mother passed, and I wasn't able to socialize well with others. Correction. I didn't want to socialize with others.
My father didn't love my mother. I believed that love will always end terribly. Divorce. Death. Someone will get hurt in the end. I realized that by not socializing, I will never experience love, thus I will never get hurt. Love was useless to me.
I walked down the halls on my way to the 3-2 classroom. I yawned, and rubbed my eyes. I was playing too much computer games last night. As I walk, I could hear the students around me whisper.
"She is really cold."
"What's her name? Michizu right?"
"Chizu-chan never talk to anyone right?"
"I was in a pair project with her and she only wanted to talk through text."
The fourth one was actually true. I really didn't want to socialize that I only helped her do the project by telling her what to do.
I looked out of the classroom window. My seat is closest towards it, so I could see a class running in the track field. My Mathematics teacher was teaching a new topic, but I learned it before in my Mathematics lesson before.
My aunt made me take private lessons on subjects at school, and I was already at college level at that time. All these junior high topics were a piece of cake.
I kept looking out of the window, and a black cat caught my eye. It hopped onto the school gate and then climbed up to a pole. I imagined myself as that cat, hopping and climbing to the highest places I can reach.
Then, something else caught my eye. It was more interesting than a black cat. It was on the pole beside the cat's. I took a closer look at it. It was.... a human? With wings?! I rubbed my eyes, and looked at it again, but it was gone. Maybe I was imagining it.
On my way home, I passed a café. I wanted to buy a drink there like I usually do, but I realized some of my classmates were in there. I quickly walked away from that café until it was out of sight.
I looked back to see if I walked away enough, then I saw the same thing I saw at class. A person with wings was also on a pole far way back, but I ignored it, and blamed it on not getting much sleep last night.
I had so much homework that day that I had to stay up till midnight. I kept having a vibe that someone is stalking me, but whenever I look back or out of the window, there isn't anyone suspicious to see.
But at the strike of midnight, I tucked inside my futon and tried to sleep, but still the vibe is there. I couldn't sleep at all.
Somehow, I fell asleep out of fatigue. At about 3 in the morning, I heard a soft voice.
"Saito-san.. Saito-san... Saito Miyuki-san!"
"Huh..?"
I rubbed my eyes, and what I saw made me black out.
"Saito-san!! Are you okay?!"
My eyes were blurry, and the light was on, which needed my eyes some time to adjust.
What? What happened? I opened my eyes, and I can't believe my eyes.
"W-w-w-what are you doing here?!"
I quickly closed my mouth, realizing I might wake my aunt up, only to remember that she was on a business trip aboard. Inside my room was the creature I saw several times today, the guy with wings.
"Good evening! I am Cupid, the god of love."
"C-C-C-Cupid?!"
I examined him. He has a pretty handsome face, with baby pink hair. His appearance made him look about my age, though I doubt it is. He was wearing a pink buttoned shirt, and blue jeans. What really stand out was his wings. It looked like wings of an angel.
"You look troubled. Is there a problem?"
"C-C-Cupid? W-w-why are you here?!"
I was stammering in fear, but soon gathered my senses and then went back to 'kuudere' mode.
He smiled at me, while I looked at him emotionlessly.
"I thought Cupid is supposed to in the form of a baby."
"I can change shapes constantly."

I looked at him suspiciously.
"So, what do you want?"
"Oh! I am appointed by the all mighty God to make sure you feel and find love. It is my job after all!"
"L-love?!"
"Yep!"
He said it so cutely, but I quickly dismissed that thought in my head.
"Not happening."
"Eeeh?! Why not?!"
"If God appointed you to help me, you probably already know why I said it isn't happening."
He made a pouting face.
"Just get out of my room."
I pushed him out of my room, and touched his wing. It was very smooth, and snowy white.
I looked out of the classroom window, looking out for Cupid. After last night, I was on the look out for stalkers (which I mean Cupid himself). I kept an eye on every creature I pass by, from the smallest cats to the fattest humans.
"Teacher is here!"
Everyone immediately took their seats.
"Good morning, everyone. We have a new student today."
Huh? New student?
A blonde boy walked in. He had a familiar look on his face.
"Good morning. I am Tenshi Hato. I am Saito-chan's boyfriend. Looking forward to working with you. "
My boyfriend?! Everyone's eyes were inverted to me. "N-n-no. He isn't my b-boyfriend! I don't have any!" Tenshi's expression was as if he hadn't said anything weird at all.
Then, it came to me. Tenshi Hato. Angel Heart. Cupid! I looked at him in shock.
"Since you're Saito-san's boyfriend, as you said, you can take the seat right beside Saito-san. But may I remind you any dating whatsoever isn't allowed in this class of mine."
He took the seat beside me, and then smiled. I looked at him with a frustrated and annoyed face.
"Tenshi Hato. How creative.."
"You figured out who I am already?! You are clever."
"Seriously? You think I wouldn't have figured it out that quickly? And what is it with you being my boyfriend?!"
"Oh. About that? That is my plan on making you feel and find love! I will be your boyfriend until you fall for me."
What?!
"No no no no, NO."
He just smiled with a smile that was obviously saying "YES".
The teacher finally snapped.
"You two love birds better pipe down back there, or I am going to have to kick you both out!"
"Stop following me!"
"But it is my job to look after you!" he whined.
"But now you are just stalking me."
It was lunch break, and we both sat together at a lunch table, I couldn't do anything about him.
I ignored him completely. There was a bowl of soba in front of me. I said my prayers and said,
"Let's eat."
"Tenshi-senpai! I-I-I kn-know this is sudden... You just came to this school and all, but I-I like you! Would you go out with me some time?!"
Cupid AKA Tenshi was extremely popular, even if it is his very first day at school. He is the god of love. Girls immediately loved him at first sight. By the end of the day, lots of girls already confessed to him.
"Quickly get this over with Tenshi. I need to get things straight with you." I sighed.
"Okay! I am so sorry, but I am already dating with Saito-"
"We aren't!"
"Oh.. Well, okay. I am so sorry for disturbing you!"
She ran away crying. I sighed.
"Is it your idea as well to make everyone fall in love with you?"
"Of course not. It is just my natural charm."
(-_-)
"So let me get things straight, God actually exists?"
"Yep."
"And he appointed you to help me feel and find love?"
"Yep."
"Then how am I supposed to find love if I date and end up falling in love with you?!"
"So you are okay with that plan?"
"No! And you are not answering my question. You also broke lots of girls' hearts today. Doesn't it make you feel bad?"
"Of course not, because they are going to meet someone more suited than me later on, which will make their world brighter than ever."
I looked at him, amazed by his quote. I quickly realized, and my face flushed red out of embarassment.
"W-well you do know your stuff.. But I still don't like your p-plan!"
"Huh? Why?"
"I plan to not socialize with anyone at all, which includes you! Love is terrible. It is why mother died..."
He looked at me pitily. I didn't want anyone pity me.
"Never mind about that! It is just, can't you just... leave me alone?"
"..."
"I know this is against God's orders, but I just don't want love involved in my life, you know? So can you please stop following and telling my classmates that we are dating?"
"Uh.. I don't know how to respond to this. God gave me orders, and he is like the supreme ruler of-"
"Alright, I understand. But please act as we are strangers. God doesn't have to know you aren't actually-"
"God knows all. He is probably listening to our conversation right now. But if you insist... I can bring you to meet God."
"Eh?! Meet God?! How?! Isn't he in the heavens?!"
"Well, actually yeah. I can fly you there. You then can talk out of this problem you have with him."
I was speechless. Meet with God?! I come from a religious family, and I don't feel like I deserve to meet God.
"I don't feel I deserve to meet him."
"You mean God, he is a not what you expect. He is nothing like the he is in the bibles or ancient books. Trust me."
"O-okay.. Are you supposed to keep an eye on me even at home?"
"Yep! You ask a lot of questions, you know that?"
My face flushed beat red again, but I quickly covered up my emotions.
"W-well, whatever. Just don't be creepy or anything, okay?"
"Okay!"
"So when are we going to meet up God? Tomorrow, or next week? Or-"
"What do you mean? We're going now!"
He smiled cheerfully.
"Now?!"
"Yep! Get on my back!"
He quickly crouched down, facing his back towards me. My face turned red for the third time.
What is this guy doing?!
I had no choice but to climb to his back, so I can get rid of all this trouble. I wished I was at home, without any of these problems washing over me.
"You better hold on tight."
"Huh? What do-"
Before I get to finish my sentence, he took off and before I knew it, we were already up in the skies.
I closed my eyes shut, while I feel the wind blowing through my brown hair.
"You can open your eyes now. Look at the beautiful view, Saito-chan!"
I slowly opened my eyes and was surprised by a stunning sunset in the distance. A "wow" slipped off my mouth.
"Wow, right? Do you envy me for having wings now?"
I was still admiring the view that I didn't hear him.
"So.. How are we supposed to get to the heavens? Is it like a place on the clouds or what?"
"Of course not! People on planes would have seen the heavens by now if it is placed in such a non-strategic place. Only specific people can go through the heavens!" he bragged.
"That doesn't explain how.."
"Well, you need to go through a portal only gods can access."
"Then how about me?"
"You'll be fine. You are with me!"
The flight took longer than expected. It was already dark. The stars were appearing, and I watched them in amazement.
"Are you interested in stars?"
"Huh? Oh.. Yeah, sort of.."
"Hm... That is Cassiopeia. That is Scorpius. That is Orion. And that is..."
"Pisces. The rope you tied up with Venus to not lose each other when you met the monster Typhon."
"Wow! I didn't expect you to know so much about mythology."
"I read a lot."
I smiled at him, and then realized what was happening. I immediately closed my mouth shut and looked back at the stars. He looked at me, and smiled back.
"We are already here by the way."
"Really? Where is the portal?"
"In the clouds!"
"What?"
He dived down towards the chunks of clouds under us. I blocked the clouds with my hands. It felt like mist, and when I opened my eyes, we were above a beautiful paradise.
