Chapter 2: Sharp Teeth

It was quiet in the room when we stepped in, and I kept my distance from the two girls and leaned toward the wall on the other end of the room. One of the girls with the psycho-smiling one was sitting on a school desk, and it looked like she was drawing something. The other one was sitting in the corner in a dark area, and I couldn't see her clearly, but her blue eyes shone up, which was a little creepy. A speaker was heard in the big room that was the size of a big classroom, and it made an announcement:

"I am seeing everything, so if there is something, you just have to look at the camera and ask the question." The female voice of the labcoat was heard.

I looked around and saw cameras high up on the ceiling of each corner of the room with speakers on both ends of the ceiling. It looked like the windows were shut entirely in an unbreakable square metal. There was a complete lockdown in this room, and the clicking sound of the door sounded again, probably locking the door. Berk leaned close to the door like he was ready to escape if something happened, and I kept my distance from them. Zark went off to the crazy one and looked down to see what she was drawing, with the other one in the corner curled up even more because he was a couple of meters from her.

"What are you drawing there?" Zark asked the crazy one.

She didn't look at him, so she turned the paper around and showed him. It piqued my interest, so I closed in on Zark while he held the paper and stared at it. It was in what I understood was a guy in a suit with a beard whose head was cut off and blood everywhere, covering the whole paper in red. We both looked at her while she was smiling at us.

"What does this mean exactly?" Zark asked.

"It means the death of the men in black suits." She responded.

"I suppose you mean us three in this room?" Zark asked.

She didn't respond and nodded her head, confirming his question.

She stared at Berk, who looked bored of all this that was happening around all of us. She pointed towards Berk and said:

"Only he can ask me questions!"

We looked at Berk, who was looking at us and yawning. When I turned to Zark, he stared at Berk, who knew what needed to be done.

"Fine! I will ask the fucking questions then!" Berk responded and walked up to the desk with all three of us looking at the girl.

She was clapping her hands when suddenly a red light shone on her chest. We knew that it could be dangerous, so Zark and I backed away with only Berk standing in front of the desk, and his right hand caught in black fire.

"Try something and I will fucking burn your pinky hair and donate it to charity."

Wait a minute, does he have some powers?

"You both behind. Don't be surprised about the black fire on my right hand. I learned how to control it to an extent when I spent all my time in prison."

It was utterly silent, and the red light kept shining from the girl's chest, with Berk having a serious look on his face like he was ready to take action.

"Now, Pinky! Tell us your name?" Berk asked her.

She was smiling towards him, responding:

"Minu Zeishethen"

The black fire went out on Berks's hand, leaning on the desk very close to her face.

"So Minu Shithausen! Why is your chest shining red light, and why did you kill all the citizens in the market?"

This guy goes straight into everything, and Zark closely watches the girl's facial expression. Berk is entirely unfiltered with no manners at all. It is teenage girls; we don't even know if they are guilty or innocent.

"Aren't you going a little bit strong on the girls, Berk?" I asked him.

He turned his head and looked at me, answering:

"What the fuck are you talking about. Over 100 citizens died from a fucking flashlight made by these two girls, and you behave like a cautious brat who wants to be nice to them. We are not here to have gullible moments; we are here to find out what they want your damn idiot."

I suppose he wants me to back off and let him do his damn thing. This guy acts a little bit crazy, and that is not good when we need to gather information. He turned back to the girl, who was not smiling anymore, and she answered:

"I was told to kill all the citizens in the market."

"Told by who?" Zark chipped in with a question.

She refused to answer Zark's question, so Berk asked it instead.

"Told by who?"

"A voice inside my head told me." She responded.

Hmm, that sounds like maybe she does have psychological problems.

"So you killed them in the market because the voice told you so. What more did the voice tell you?" Berk asked her.

She started to smile again.

"The voice is telling me that the Van Polans need to do three tasks for me if you want the light to disappear."

Berk looked back at us, and we were a little bit taken back by what she was telling us.

"What happens if the light disappears?" Zark asked.

She turned and looked at Zark and responded:

"You will save the girl if you complete the three tasks, and it will be a benefit because it involves killing demons." She answered.

We all looked at each other, and Zark turned up to the camera and pointed to the door that unlocked. We all went outside the room into the corridor and went back to the room with the screen. A live video feed was up with Veronica sitting at her desk. I noticed that she was not Victoria's normal self. The sister who took care of me as a child was different now. It was the first time in my life that I saw her scared.

"I got the information from Tessa. My suggestion is to do the tasks that the pink-haired girl requested. The shining light on her chest took out so many citizens, but we don't even know if they will get stronger, and I am worried something more sinister awaits."

"What if the tasks will kill us or it does have consequences and makes it worse?" Zark asked.

"Well, we must listen to the tasks and act accordingly." She responded.

I did feel that something was not right with this whole thing. There is still no explanation why the request was made to have me and Berk there.

"I smell something really bad, Victoria! Why don't we just kill them?" Berk asked.

"Wait a minute Berk! We can't just kill them; they look like teenage human girls, and we don't know if they have done it with purpose or if they are innocent."

Berk glared at me with dissatisfaction responding:

"So, pipsqeak! You want to take a risk that will probably involve someone getting killed. You, me, or Zark get killed because we did a task for a girl who says she can make the light disappear if we do three tasks for her."

He was right, but he was also wrong. We didn't have enough information on what was happening, and Victoria didn't seem to know either.

We returned to the room and noticed that the brunette had come out from the shadowed corner and was sitting beside the pinky girl. The brunette had bright blue eyes, but pinky was different with dark brown eyes. They looked like normal teenage girls, except that shirt was uncommon in Swedish schools. Are they from another part of the world, maybe?

"Are you ready for the first task?" Pinky asked, smiling at us.

"Sure! Tell us what the task is?" Berk asked.

"In Paladin Woods, there is an isolated area called The End. This area is infected with poison in the water, and you need to kill whatever is poisoning the water there and bring back the blood here from the creature responsible for the poisoning."

"Wait a minute, what if we get poisoned and die?" Zark responded with a very logical question.

"You can't die; all three of you carry human blood inside. So you are immune to the poison, but I suggest you take a Tinka with you to guide you with their smell towards the creature." She responded.

She pressed her hand towards her chest with the light and took out a small plastic cup with a lid.

"After the creature is killed, fill the cup with the blood from the creature and come back here and give it to me."

We all looked at each other, and it was obvious none of us knew where and what we had to do. Zark turned towards the camera and shouted:

"Did you get everything and know where we are going?"

The speaker responded:

"Yes, and we will ensure you have a Tinka with you."

We all focused on Pinky and she went up from the chair, bent her head a little bit, and opened her mouth, so we noticed that her teeth had changed shape. It looked razor-sharp, like shark teeth, and I couldn't understand how she suddenly changed her teeth. She was glaring at us and said:

"Tick Tock Van Polans! You better hurry if you want to save the girl."

Berk turned to me and said:

"I told you we should have killed them, moron!" we walked out, and we started to walk fast to hurry to Paladin Woods. It is one of the five safe zones on Earth where all types of citizens or creatures lurk in every corner, hidden from the human world.
