Chapter 6: Robbery

Chapter 6: Robbery

Cleaning himself coming back to his hut, he decided to take a rest. “There are a total of 7 Levels in Elementary Grappling Method. After all this killing, I have reached Level 5 which is rather above my expectations.”

“Reaching Level 7 before the day of the Outer Sect Examinations is within my expectations… With my current prowess, I can one-shot kill a Second Layer with 50-60% accuracy under the precondition that it is a sneak attack. To increase my combat power, I can either increase my cultivation which is out of the way for now or learn skills which… is possible.”

In this way, Li Daozi’s next destination was the Treasure Hall in the Moonlight City. This time, however, he wasn’t going to kill or rob people. It was more accurate to say that he can’t. Even if he could, he would have to think ten times before doing so. After all, the powers behind the hall includes several powers of the Northern Province, including the Mount Yaluo Sect.

In the entire Northern Province, there are only two powers which can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Mount Yaluo Sect. They are - Liang Family and Northern Brilliant Illusionary Sect. Even though the latter was considered a second-rate power, it is not to be underestimated.

The Northern Province is again divided into several sub-divisions - East Region, West Region, South Region, North Region and the Central Plains. Mount Yaluo Sect is located in the South Region, Liang Family in the Central Plains and Northern Brilliant Illusionary Sect in the North Region.

Knock!

As he was lost in his thoughts, he heard the knock of his door.

“Come in. It’s unlocked” He said calmly.

A female disciple wearing green robes came into view. Seeing her, he let out a sigh. “Is something the matter?”

The female disciple’s body didn’t move for a while. “I never really expected you to cultivate so diligently.”

Li Daozi smiled. “Why not? If I could pass the Outer Sect Examinations, I could at least become an Outer Sect Elder.”

“By the time you become an Outer Sect Elder, I would already be running unhindered in the entire Northern Province.”

“I see. Good for you.”

Without his insistence, she took a seat. Her expression was indifferent. “My grandfather died.”

“Huh? My condolences.” He said politely.

“He was the only one responsible for my upbringing.” Her voice was hoarse.

Li Daozi suddenly felt a bad premonition in his heart. But before he could question, she continued. “He was killed.” Gritting her teeth, she bitterly said.

The bad premonition in his heart grew stronger. “Did you find his body?”

She nodded. “He was found by a traveller and he took him to the nearest village.”

Li Daozi went silent.

After a while, she finally broke the silence. “I brought some pills to help you in your cultivation.”

“Oh? Please help me.”

She stared at him, then released a sigh of disappointment. She then took out a leather pouch and handed it over to him.

Li Daozi had a faint smile on his face but didn’t say anything.

“Alright. I’m leaving. If you encounter any problems, you can come to me.” She got up and turned to leave. Reaching the door, she turned her head as if she remembered something. “Don’t try to chase after me.”

He let out a chuckle. “You don’t need to motivate me.” You are wasting your feelings on me. Try to worry about your grandfather. He might need it more than me.

“Whatever you say.” Her voice instantly turned cold. Without saying any further, she left.

“This has turned into a major problem… I can’t let my guard down.” He bitterly smiled. “I can’t always rely on my heaven-defying luck. Sometimes, trouble is inevitable.”

Moonlight City. Treasure Hall.

An average-looking guy stood outside the Hall.

"Excuse me. What do you need?" A young woman came to him and smiled.

"I need Mortal Grade Skills." He replied in a calm voice with his eyes curiously looking around.

"What kind of Mortal Grade Skills?"

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

"Elementals."

"Which element?"

He didn't get irritated from her questioning because there are several sections in the Hall. She has the responsibility to take him to the section depending on his requirements.

"Ice."

The young woman smiled business-like. "Please come."

"Everything here is a Mortal Grade Ice-type Skill."

The man nodded at her and started looking through the skills.

After a while, the man picked a book and went to the young woman. "I'm done. How much is it?"

The woman looked at the skill book. "So it's Ice Soul Technique. 1500 gold coins."

The man nodded and took out a leather pouch from his spatial ring and handed over to the woman.

"For a passive skill, this isn't half-bad." Li Daozi smiled in satisfaction. "Now then, should I kill? Oh no no no. I shouldn't mindlessly kill mortals… It might cause me trouble. But I still have to level up my skill… hm?"

He suddenly noticed a commotion caused by the crowd.

Grabbing a man's shoulder, he directly asked. "What happened?"

Initially, the man was quite angry seeing someone had grabbed his shoulders but when he noticed Li Daozi's aura, he immediately swallowed back his curses. "Respected Sir, the successors of Peace Mountain came and they are giving away wealth to mortals."

Peace Mountain was a second-rate power in the West Region. It was in fact located in the hometown of Li Daozi’s family, Whitedow City. Every generation has two successors namely, Holy Son and Holy Daughter, who are to be Dao Partners in the future.

"Oh…" Li Daozi loosened his grip and let him go. Then he silently pondered. This world revolves around me. This is a fact. I got destiny and luck on my side. So it would be rude of me to not use every opportunity given to me.

Mixing in the crowd, he looked at the two successors and sighed in relief.

Two kids were showing kind smiles and giving away clothes and coins to the mortals. There was a middle-aged man standing behind them.

Seeing the scenario, he let out a smile. "Sometimes I fear my own luck."

"Xiao Lu. Are you done?" A little girl stared at a charming boy of similar age.

The boy smiled in a naïve way. "Yes. This is a tough job but the smiles on their faces were all worth it."

The little girl nodded with a bright smile. "When we go back to the Sect, Martial Aunt will surely give us gifts!"

Just as the boy was about to respond, an unknown voice entered their ears.

"Gifts? I'm interested."

They both jumped in shock. After that, they let out wry smiles. "Uncle Yang, please don't frighten us." The little girl pouted.

The middle-aged man laughed lightly. He patted their heads and spoke in a serious manner. "Listen carefully. I was ambushed a few minutes ago by a robber."

"Huh? Robber? Are you hurt?"

“Fortunately, I’m safe. Give me the keys of the chest. I need to keep my valuables." He spoke in a natural way.

If it was another time, both of them would have some doubts and would question further but understanding the situation, they didn’t.

The little girl took out a key with some hesitation and handed it over to the middle-aged man. The man faintly smiled and patted their heads before running to the carriage.

Getting on to the carriage, the man sighed and spotted a medium sized chest lying at the corner.

He inserted the key and… it opened! Wasn’t it given? I should stop being so excited.

“Hm… let’s see what fortune lies inside this chest.” Sweeping his eyes through the contents, he frowned.

Aside from some several thousand spirit stones, there was nothing worth glancing a second time. But he didn’t get disappointed. “I can’t believe my fortune can be this mediocre.” He muttered with a deep voice and searched the chest carefully.

In a second or two, his eyes gleamed with a bright light. It was… a strange green stone!

Even though he had absolutely no idea what it is, he was confident that it was not an ordinary item. How is he so sure? That is something only he himself could answer.

Without wasting any time, he grabbed the green stone and the spirit stones and put them in his spatial ring. After this, he didn’t immediately leave. He took out a glass bottle filled with cold orange liquid.

Li Daozi then sprinkled it all over his body.

It was River Express liquid - a mild rare poison. It can be used to make a person with cultivation less than Third Layer Qi Condensation drunk for an hour.

Of course, he didn’t have any intentions to make himself drunk. It has an overlooked side-effect. Aside from being drunk, the person would also be able to weaken his soul mark.

The loli and the shota, who were still ignorant of the fact that they were cheated, were chatting merrily.

"It's been so long. Should we go check out?" The shota asked.

The loli shook her head. "No need. He must have his reasons."

The shota was about to respond when his eyes lit up. "Uncle Yang!"

A middle-aged dark-skinned man was walking towards them. Seeing both of them, he let out a smile.

The loli hurriedly asked. "What were you doing?"

The man scratched his head. "Aah… I was talking to an Elder."

The loli and shota looked at each other.

The shota blinked his eyes. "Did you catch the robber?" The loli too looked at the man with some expectations.

The man revealed a confused expression, then laughed heartily. "Huh? Robber… Oh hahaha! Yes. I caught him red-handed!"

Today morning, on the way to this city, they were watching a classic play 'The Legend of the Red-handed Thief'. It was the story of a Celestial who was a thief. It was said that he was never caught and had a red right hand. When he was stealing pills from a Heavenly Sect, several powerhouses ambushed him. But in that very moment, he became a Celestial and was thus never really caught. After the play ended, the loli asked him with some curiosity. "Can you catch the thief?" Back then, he could only smile wryly.

In an extremely dumb manner, he suddenly related his question to the incident from the morning.

Hearing his answer, their face brightened.

They are still so innocent… well, that's to be expected. Uncle Yang thought in his heart.

After a while, he said. "Come on. We have to visit Elder Sun."
