Hero looked into the void. It was dark and bleak, and Hero could not see any signs of life beyond him. He tried to turn around, but he couldn't make out anything in the misty region he was. It was cold, or rather he Hero was cold. Hero couldn't feel his limbs, his body. He didn't feel the need to breathe, but deep down he felt terrified.
Where am I? Hero was unsure if there was anyone other that could answer his question. Did he ever live before? He couldn't say. If he had a life before, he didn't remember anything. His memories were fuzzy, fuzzier than a dog's coat after absorbing static.
If he had a weapon, that was gone as well. He finally came to terms with it all.
"I know nothing, so am I nothing? But I can think, so I must be something? What am I?"
For many moments, all he could do was debate himself over what he really was.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
The only fact he knew was his name was Hero, and he existed. That is all. Whatever else he did know, either those memories were erased or he never truly had memories in the first place.
Occasionally, Hero could feel something tugging him back and forth, but what that was he couldn't say. He didn't have a clue as to what he felt. Was it his imagination? Or was it real? If it was real, does he have a body? Where was that.
So many questions, and no one to help Hero answer them. Hero finally resigned to his fate. "If there is nothing, then I shall become nothing." And so he merged with his surroundings for eons, not thinking at all. Becoming essentially nothing.
The silence finally ended one day. A beam of light called out to him, distant in the void of darkness. The voice sounded old and on the brink of its end. Hero heard this voice from all directions.
"Oh lost soul, what is your name?"
