Chapter 2

Memory restoration complete…..

A soft voice was the first thing Luka heard when she slowly awoke. Luka's mind got clearer as the grogginess left her body and she tried to open her eyes. When she opened her eyes what greeted her was not the bright light of the sun but the soft light of the moon.

“Hmmmm….” After sitting up lazily and stretching for a few seconds, Luka looked around. Soon her gaze fell on the man slumped over asleep in the chair to her left. Soft shoulder-length silver hair framed his elegant face as he leaned back in the chair with his arms crossed. The longer Luka looked at him the more his presence seemed to rouse her memory. Memories started to flicker through her mind once more as her gaze wandered off. The memories weren't of Luka Walters, but rather Saeria Cecil Luthyia. Luka finally understood what had happened. Not only did she reincarnate as Saeria, but her memory improved significantly. Not only could she remember nearly all the endings in Sweet Love, but she could remember most of the books she's read or games she's played in vivid detail. Unfortunately, her memories as Saeria were very hazy compared to those as Luka. Even though it was hazy she could still remember her personality and how she acted as Saeria. Saeria was a shy, awkward child with hardly any facial expressions. She loved secretly watching her father train with the knights and she hated the heat of summertime. Slowly her gaze drifted back to the man.

‘Alastair Alphonse Luthyia, the sword saint of the Saenyth Empire….. My father.’ Luka, now Saeria, stared at him absentmindedly for a few minutes. Her thoughts slowly drifted to the soft voice she heard before and she tried to talk to it again. ‘Hey…. um.. Ai, you are still here, right?’

Ai (N/A) confirms…..

‘So… um… I’ve been wandering….. Why do you talk in such a weird way?’ Saeria awkwardly tried to make small talk with the Ai.

The current speech pattern is due to the linguistic settings of Ai (N/A).....

‘If possible could you change it to something more casual or natural?’

Ai (N/A) confirms that the linguistic settings can be changed….

Would the host, Saeria, like the settings to be changed?

  ‘Yes’

Changing linguistic settings….. Complete

‘Also just to make sure, N/A means no name, right?’

That is correct. I was not assigned a name, so it is registered as (N/A) in the system.

Saeria was baffled by the difference. Not only did the Ai’s way of speaking change but the voice sounded more emotional and feminine. There was something more attractive about the voice. It was soft and calming. A short awkward silence formed as Saeria stared off into space for a few seconds. ‘Ummm…. Is it okay if I named you?’

Yes, I am more than happy to receive a name from Saeria.

The way the Ai spoke slowly, almost enchantingly, caused Saeria to blush slightly. ‘Oh…’

Saeria’s gaze wandered around the room, her room until it landed on the large windows to the right of her bed. Two moons shine softly past the silver-lined blue curtains. Their shimmering spectacle was fading as a faint dark red hue started to paint the sky. A name came to her mind as she gazed at the moon. ‘Selene….. What do you think about ‘Selene’?’

I think it’s a beautiful name, thank you. I will enter it into the system.

Before Saeria can give a reply a soft shuffling sound interrupted the silence of the room causing her to flinch slightly. Saeria turned her gaze to the sound and her gaze fell on the sleeping figure of her new father. He shifted in the chair, trying to get more comfortable, but didn’t wake up. Saeria sighed. Her gaze flicked to his silver hair and then to her own long silver hair. It was difficult for Saeria to believe it at first but her silver hair and now smaller, healthy body only proved it. She was no longer in her previous world, but in the same world as the game 'Sweet Love'. Although the game was difficult she liked it quite a bit. However, one thing she disliked was how challenging it was to level up the magic realm of the heroine. All of a sudden Saeria's thoughts ground to a halt as a giddy feeling arose in her chest.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

‘Selene, magic exists in this world, right?’

Magic exists in all worlds, at least that is what it is called in this world. You could say magic is a collection of energies that is very common but difficult to use if you don’t know how. In fact, magic exists in all living beings, and almost all matter in varying amounts. All living beings produce, filter, and absorb magic energy from their surroundings which is then stored in their body which is called ‘mana’. All living beings are born with a varying amount of mana already in their body. Magic energies can be categorized into different elements based on what phenomenon they can cause. Each different living being has a different aptitude for each element called ‘elemental affinity’.

Saeria was a bit speechless. When she asked she expected a yes or no, however, this did not seem to dim her excitement.‘Oh! Do know what my elemental affinities are?’

I had a feeling you might ask that so I already tested it for you. Here, let me pull up the data hub.

SETTINGS/OPTIONS

Saeria stared at the translucent screen in front of her eyes, feeling her body buzz with excitement. The screen was similar to your typical game-like status screen of the average isekai story. The contents of the screen were fairly straightforward, though there were some things she wanted to ask about. She could ask those other questions later so first things first, magic! Just the thought of being able to use it made her tremble with excitement. She slowly raised her finger to press the words 'elemental affinities' and another smaller screen appeared to the right of the other one.

Just so you know, there are four categories of elements: normal, high, legendary, and other magic. One's elemental affinities vary in strength so each affinity has a rank depending on how potent it is. The ranks from weakest to strongest are lesser, low, medium, high, and grand. The stronger the affinity the easier it is to use the element and the rarer it is. All living beings have at least a lesser affinity rank for all affinities in the normal and high categories. Normal elements are your basic elements and it is common to have low or Medium for these. Most creatures have a lesser affinity for all high elements. It is very unusual to not have a high element with a lesser affinity. Legendary elements are very rare and worlds can go hundreds of years without someone having one. Other elements are also rare but can be obtained under certain varying conditions.

Saeria’s flicked between the two screens as she read. ‘You said high element affinity is rare, right?’

Yes, it is very rare. Your high elemental affinity is the main reason I chose you to be my host.

‘Oh. Also, what's going on with my health and mana? I don’t remember getting hurt.’

The cause of your current state of health is also the reason why your mind was damaged and why you were asleep for a week. You were poisoned by a very rare and deadly poison. The poison had strong mind and magic-disrupting effects. I had to utilize a portion of your mana in order to combat the poison. The only positive thing that came out of it was that it woke up the system and brought back the memories of your previous life.

No matter how hard Saeria tried to remember she could remember being poisoned or what led to her week-long coma. It was a blank space in her memory. Before she could think about it any longer a deep voice echoed through the room and Saeria flinched.

“Saeria, you’re awake. How do you feel?” Saeria’s head turns toward the voice, the previously asleep man now sat straight up and fully awake.
