Chapter 9.5 - Letter 45
“Sis!” The voice of the young Aloe calls out to Angela through her door.
Angela has locked herself in her room, she has remained there all day everyday for weeks, this is the result of the harsh, and resentful letters that her old friend Zebedee has been sending her.
“Maybe this one is a nice letter! You never know!” Aloe tries to convince Angela to open up her door.
Aloe holds an unopened letter in her hand as she tries her hardest to get through to her sister, she knows of the harsh letters as she always somehow gets her hands on the letters that the young Zebedee had been sending all this time. The last few are full of resentful words towards her sister, for many reasons but mostly because she hasn’t been sending letters back to him all this time, and Aloe doesn’t even have the slightest clue to the reason why she hasn’t either.
“Well if you aren’t gonna open up I guess I will have to read it to you myself!” Aloe shouts as she realizes that Angela won’t open up.
Aloe gently opens the letter, she thinks back to the previous 43 letters that the young man has sent her sister, never mentioning the likes of her or the royal family that they both belong to, all he talks about is The War and the things they got up to as kids. She feels close to the young man through the letters, as he describes the harsh conditions of The War, and though he has a rough style of writing, she can always feel his emotions clearly through his words. So over time she started to treat the letter with a level of respect, and she even goes back to reread them, in a way you can call her a fan of his.

Aloe clears her throat as she begins to read.
“Letter forty four, Hello again Angy, that marks the forty fourth greeting that you have ignored, but that obviously doesn’t matter much to you. Guess what? More fucking people died, not that you care again, I can’t believe you-” Aloe stops reading as the letter continues to get more and more aggressive.
Angela never muttered a sound, and Aloe just stood outside her door, silent and regretful. Aloe decided to just leave the letter on the floor, The frustration she felt through the letter ruined her mood, and even though the words were not directed to her, she felt disrespected by the pretentious words, and for the first time ever she felt annoyed towards the young man, whom she had never even met.
“What a fucking tool.” Aloe mutters as she skips down the hall, forgetting everything almost instantly, returning to her coddled life as a princess of the royal family.
This letter was the last angry letter that Zebedee ever sent to Angela, he would spend almost every moment after sending the letter in regret and embarrassment. Due to shortages in spare paper he was not able to send a letter apologizing for over a year, and when he was finally able to send that letter, the person he was sending it to already underwent a massive change. This change was due to the peace talks between Eccacia and Artenia being finalized, and the marriage between Angela and Dane being set in stone, which would end up changing the course of young Zebedee’s life, before he even knew it. The War would continue to be waged for another year despite these peace talks, and Zebedee would lose friends back and forth completely unknowing of this fact, but if he did know he surely would have truly become a traitor long before his country considered him one.
