Chapter 3: Goblin den.

Chapter 3: Goblin den.

In front was a perpendicular hallway ending in rooms from both side.

“Right side is the right side” as he turned to the right hallway. He walked for 20 steps and reached the room, Amrit cautiously peeked inside. What he saw made his hair stand up and the smell made his nostrils hurt.

Inside were a bunch of tiny green creatures the height of his waist. With bulging belly and ugly bodies, barely covered with any cloth. They were tearing apart a half rotten deer with their fang like teeth and creating all sorts of noises. Near them were crude weapons like clubs and small rusted knives. The smell was a mix of both the creature’s and the rotting carcass.

“Goblins!!” He exclaimed but immediately hushed down afraid to alert them.

‘It seems this is a goblin den, their number is pretty low for being a goblin den. It seems this group might have found this cave and decided to occupy it’ he pondered.

‘I will use my skill to ambush them and see how useful it is’

He slithered his staff inside the gate and used his skill (chaos bolt)

BANG! With a loud sound a bolt of violet lightning rose from the end of staff and his left hand and homed toward the group of goblins like a hungry snake.

Zzzzaaapp,! The first goblin was hit and instantly the bolt jumped to other goblins in an arc and then it branched like a tree root to other nearby goblins.

With a loud thunder they disintegrated into fine ash and dust before they could react to the sound even.

(DING)

You levelled up!

Your level rose up to 3.

“Whaa!! 2 level ups and this skill at level 1 is too powerful. I think due to my sneak attack it’s damage might have increased but still it’s overwhelming. Orrrr the goblins were too weak”

It took a few seconds to come out of his stupor. “This skill needs to be controlled for a proper use I was thinking of trying to subdue these goblins after testing my skill but now there is only ash.”

He chuckled.

‘It takes 20 mp to cast once, if my body didn’t change I couldn’t even use it once’ he thought.

Now the was quite with a smell of burnt meat mixing with rotten meat. Amrit left the room and headed to the left side which ended in an empty room that led to outside.

He could see light coming and could make out some tree canopies, he left the cave and entered an area that looked like a small forest with scarce trees and abundant bushes.

There he saw again few more goblins wandering around.

‘I will try to use my skill of (primordial eye) and see what is hidden’

WENG! WENG! His eyes changed Colour and looked as if two embers of azure flame were leaking out from both eyes.

‘I can see the stats of these goblins, they are indeed pretty weak!’

Goblins had similar layout of stats but their stats ranged in single digit only and some had double digits but none more than 20. On the right side of their stats Amrit could see,

(Potential)

Some had a word low, middle or high written next to it.

(Low potential) would mean the goblin’s future growth. Goblins were creatures with extensive evolution potential. They could evolve in many branches and their forms could be so diverse that it would be impossible to tell if they belong to the same species.

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

In this particular group there was only 1 goblin with high potential. Externally all goblins looked almost the same with green colour muddy brown eyes and bulging faces and bellies, height reaching barely 3ft and sharp fang like teeth with animalistic growling.

This particular goblin however had a spark of intelligence in his eyes, he looked the same as the rest but he was constantly watching the surrounding.

‘I will try to subdue a few of them this time to see what happens’ Amrit thought as he started to move closer stealthily.

‘I will not use chaos bolt cause these goblins will not survive even a single hit, I will try to physically force them to yield’ he was mentally planning what to do.

He took out the staff and felt it’s weight while thinking something.

When he was sufficiently closer to the group he rushed out of the bushes and smacked the nearest goblin on his head with staff.

PWACKK!! The goblins head burst like a watermelon and green blood splattered on the opposite side. The goblin fell down immediately with a few twitches remaining in his body.

Both the goblins and Amrit was surprised for a while but then the goblins rushed him with all sorts of crude weapons screaming various unintelligible sounds.

‘I need to control my force, I don’t want to accidentally kill the high potential goblin.’ He thought while he jumped a step back.

His body was reacting faster than what he could imagine his real body could do in real life. This might be because of his stats so he used this battle as a way to see his limits.

He dashed for the next goblin and jumped above him but he overshot by a large margin and landed behind the goblin with high potential. Afraid to kill him somehow he caught the goblins hand and wanked the club away like an adult would take a toy away from a baby.

Then he threw the goblin on ground and put his foot on the goblins back to hold him pinned on the ground. The goblin was stunned for a while as if he couldn’t even see the attacker. But once he was pinned down no matter how much he flailed he couldn’t move a inch, as if a tower of concrete fell upon him.

“Now I don’t have to suppress myself” Amrit said as he extended his hand and casted chaos bolt.

BANG!! ZAP! ZAP!

Violet coloured lighting emerged from his palm and rushed toward the group of goblins who were running towards him.

The loud sound made many creatures small and big raise there ears, birds flew away and weaker creatures ran away.

All those who were hit by this bolt turned in ash and scattered in the wind.

(DING)

You levelled up!

Now your level is 4.

“This will never grow old on me” he muttered while looking at the goblin under his foot.

The goblin under his foot was scared like a leaf in wind, his body shivering and with wary eyes he resigned himself to his fate.

‘Let’s see how to use this primordial contract’ he muttered as he placed his hand on the bald head of this green goblin whose head was drowned with sweat from fear.

“(PRIMORDIAL CONTRACT)” A loud deep voice emerged from the depths of his throat and some arcane runes in a magic circle appeared around his hands.

“Yield to me and I will make you the more powerful than you could have dared to dream” Amrit instinctively said while looking at the eyes of this pitiful creature as if a demon enticing a naive baby.

The goblin closed his eyes and relaxed his body as if he understood what he meant. That was the effect of the contract. Any creature under its influence could understand the casters words and decide to submit or not. For this lowly goblin being alive and getting meat to eat was enough so it accepted the contract subconsciously.

The next instant the magic circle entered the head of that goblin and he started squirming on the ground in pain.

“What happened? Did I fail to make contract” he removed his leg from the back of that goblin and stepped away to better examine.

After the while the goblin lay silent not moving, and a familiar sound was heard in his mind.

(DING)

Congratulations for getting you first subordinate.

You can summon him to your place by using this contract and communicate with him telepathically regardless of the distance.

“Status” Amrit said curiously while looking at goblin with his primordial eyes.

Name : Not eligible for being a named creature yet.

Race : Forest goblin.

Class : Goblin youngling.

Then the goblin rose to his feet and got down on all fours and said, “I greet my king”

Of course it was only said telepathically. In reality only some guttural sounds could be heard.

“Good make sure to follow my orders and you will become the peak of your race” Amrit said while shaking his staff to remove the green blood from it.

It smelled funky with a rusty copper smell. All this was indistinguishable from real world, if Amrit didn’t know he was in a game he think he has been sent to a new world. The reactions of the creatures their actions the environment his senses all told him that this technology was impossible in the current era.

“Let’s find where is ankita” he said while browsing his status.

He found a tab with a search bar which could be used to search for a person and send a friend request. He entered the name Ankita and pressed go.

(DING)

Ankita has accepted your friend request, now you can use the call feature and talk to your friends.

He immediately called ankita and he heard her voice, “This world is so amazing it looks like a real world”

“Where are you right now” Amrit asked.

“I am in a village, I got a quest to help a grandma prepare some medicines for his grandson who was bit by a goblin” she replied.

“Ha ha ha.. truly this game is unfair, I am in a forest with goblins while you already got a quest?” He chuckled while teasing her.

“How can we find each other ?” She asked.

“Let me see” Amrit checked the location through friend screen.

The location was showing 600 meters north to his current location. The screen was like a map of the area which was covered in a grey fog while a circular area around Amrit was cleared and he could see a jungle around him with a small green icon with a goblin face near his position indicating the location of his goblin subordinate.

“Okay I see your location, I will be there in a moment wait for me” Amrit said before hanging his call.

“Follow me” he said to the goblin and started jogging towards the village.

The goblin was running at his full speed but couldn’t keep up so Amrit reduced his speed for him to catch up.

“Tch… I hope this goblin will not become a burden for me” he cursed under his breath.

The goblin increased his pace as if he understood what Amrit meant which surprised him.

‘I will have to train him to make him useful’ Amrit thought while jogging towards the village.

There were many bushes and shrubbery which he cleared using his staff to bash away.

In front he could see a boar with huge tusks and thick grey hide uprooting some plants to eat it’s roots. He immediately came to a halt to not alert the boar. The goblin caught up and stopped as well looking at Amrit curiously.

Amrit pointed at the boar and signalled not to make sound.

But the Boar stood silent and started smelling the wind.

“F**k this smelly goblin gave away our position” he cursed as he rushed towards the boar.
