Hello, my name is Starlight and I’m what you would call a first-class Legend.
“What is a Legend?” you may ask. You see, that’s why I’m here (Ahem, I was forced to write this book, so you BETTER like it).
Ok, I’m going to explain the start of the, uh, Dimensional reality? I don’t exactly know what to call it, my brain has enough to process already. Let’s just call it that.
Take a deep breath. No, really. What I’m about to say will blow your tiny human brain. Now, let’s dive right in.
At the beginning there was nothing. I know, right, awesome way to start. There was no light. No dark. No day. No night. Just...Nothing.
But then...there was something. Ok, I'll be less vague. When the Nothingness was about, let's say, suuuuuper old, the Crystal was born, a pure source of magical essence so bright it blinds me. It was created by the nothingness having so much energy in one place that it collapsed in on itself, creating the crystal.
The Crystal is…impossible to describe. Remember, it’s pure magical essence, the first beautiful thing ever.
I think the Nothingness just needed something entertaining.
Anyway, the Crystal was kind of like the egg for Sunaria and Spirizar, or the Sune and Sprizack plus a very cute, powerful fox named Fat Foxie.
The Crystal was the only light in the world. All the other matter was considered as the Nothing, a source of pure evil. The Nothing is what lurked in the dark corners, hissing and being jealous of the pure light essence of the Crystal, and probably causing Sunaria and Spirizar to have a lot of troubling nightmares. I hate that stuff. The Nothing was probably also in need of light.
Soon after (there weren’t years back then), The Nothing became really intense, and cracks formed along the surface of the crystal. The cracks became wider and wider, until it shattered. Pieces of the Crystal flew everywhere, and the Sprizack climbed out of the Crystal like “I’M ALIVE” but the Sune pushed him back in and climbed out (TAKE THAT, SPIRIZAR!!!) instead, holding Fat Foxie in her arms.
Now, at this moment, the two siblings (twins, I guess–you would never be able to tell, trust me) did NOT have names, mind you, so I will use their FORMAL TITLES. Well, I guess I am not using their full titles, but you really think I am going to write out Supreme deity and goddess of life and rebirth, or the Supreme deity and god of death and chaos every time I mention one of them? No, I am already forced to write this, I am not going to put in more than I have to.
Anyway, their appearances are also hard to describe–at least to your tiny human brain.
Sunaria was kind of humanoid, walking on two legs and all that, but she was more of a bit of everything–dragonish wings (along with a pair of feathered wings), dragon horns, fox ears on the top of her head, nine fox tails, and a tilted halo that was dripping a sort of glowing liquid hovering above her head. (I describe everything in this way, but at this time animals hadn’t been created yet. I’ll get to that part later.)
Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit.
Her eyes were kind and clever. She wasn’t built with a lot of muscle, more of the slender type. She had long, crown half-up pull-through braid hair of crystalline colors. Her long, flowing dress was like a beautiful crystalline painting of a sunset, and it sparkled at the light from the shards far away. Her eyes were different, too–one was a fade from pale crystalline blue to a crystalline pink with a plus shaped pupil, while the other was fire colored with a slit shaped pupil. Her eye whites were black and so were her pupils, which gave her a cute and alert look.
Spirizar was just a bit bulkier than Sunaria, but still pretty slim. His hair was black like the night but faded to a blood red at the tips. He had pale-shaded skin and sharp vampiric fangs, and razor sharp wings that looked like they were bone dragon wings. His eyes were blood red and he had the same black eye whites and pupils, though both of his pupils were slits. He had two long, elegant, black-fade-to-red horns that on the top looked like plates overlapping all the way down to the tip. He also has a band of scales on his waist that he can hide, they are pure black (don't ask how i know all these things). He was a few inches taller than Sunaria, and looked at her like a little sister. However, even Spirizar was smart enough to never underestimate his sister’s wisdom. He had more wolfish ears, and a long slender dragon tail.
“Who?” hissed the Darkness, ripe with jealousy at the beauty of the Sune and Sprizack. Sunaria set Fat Foxie to guard the Crystal from the reaching claws of the Darkness.
“Umm…” trailed off Spirizar. He and Sunaria gathered in a huddle and discussed what their names would be. I wasn’t there, but I bet there were a lot of “but I don’t like that"s and “arrgh”s and “WHY”s, but eventually they came around with their names.
“I am Sunaria, and this is my brother, Spirizar,” the Sune told the Darkness. It resented them all the more for their beautiful names. Spirizar got into a magic stance (a stance with one arm propped up in front of the person, two fingers up and the rest in a fist, finger tips glowing), getting ready for some blood filled combat. Fat Foxie bared her teeth.
“We mean no harm!” Sunaria butted in, still smiling her perfect smile. “We just want some of your Darkness, to build a wall around the Crystal! I mean, it’s just a little too bright, right?”
The Darkness regarded this for a moment.
“Yess,” it hissed. It was happy to give some of its darkness to smother the light. It did not know about Sunaria’s plan, and neither did Spirizar.
“WHAT are you DOING?” Spirizar whispered to Sunaria angrily. “Don’t you sense how evil that thing is? And I don’t think the Crystal’s light can be smothered, even just a tiny bit!”
“SHHH.” Sunaria whacked him with one of her wings. “It might hear you… and I swear if you ruin my plan…” Sunarias face went dark and she looked at Spirizar with her eyes fading to a dark red.
(She can be really scary when she wants to be.)
Spirizar held up his hands in surrender. “Ok, ok, calm down, jeez,”
“Now, back to what I was saying…” She stood in front of the Crystal and smiled pleasantly at the Darkness. I don’t know how she did it, because the Darkness was all around her. Maybe she had infinite vision or something.
Anyways, as the Darkness gave some of its being, Sunaria started to secretly gather all her mana into the crystal. You might be asking what she needed the Darkness for, well, we will get to that later.
However, the Darkness was so distracted giving Sunaria part of its being, that it did not notice the increase in essence. Sunaria then took the Darkness she had gathered and made it into a blanket, covering the crystal and Spirizar. With the first part of her plan in place, she began to weave essence into the Darkness, making something. I am not quite sure about the process, but Sunaria made something. Something powerful, something dangerous. Or, she more of made three things, Staravae, Eslar, and Dasno.
