Mai Wei took a deep breath and scrolled through the latest news on her phone. She was scanning the headlines when an article caught her eye: "CEO of Asterix Games Co. Ltd Assassinated." Her heart pounded as she read the details. The report confirmed that Li Wai had been assassinated with a bullet piercing his head—a clear act of murder. This report further said that the next day, his body was taking to the cemetery for burial.

This report continued to say that Li Wai had already prepared that on his death, his company was going to be donated to an orphanage called Little Children. This he did even as he was in the life of earth but he died knowing well that the company was going to benefit the orphanage upon his death.
Mai Wei sat in contemplative silence, digesting the information she had read. It was a little sad for her past life, but it gave her all the more purpose for the new one: Li Wai's company was now supporting an orphanage.
Determined to find answers, she decided to look into her past life as Li Wai. Using her phone, she began the search for any information which could shed light on her situation. She scrolled through old news articles, business reports, and online forums, all in an attempt to connect the final moments of her life as Li Wai and the events that led to her assassination.
As she dived deeper, she found several theories who could have wanted her dead. It was rival companies, disgruntled employees, and even former business partners. Every clue made her closer to understanding the complex web of deceit and betrayal that led to her untimely demise.
The more she learned, the more determined she became to unravel the truth. She knew that to identify who had masterminded her murder was crucial, not just for her own inner peace but to make sure her new life as Mai Wei is safe. The pieces were falling into place and she was ready for anything that would come. Mai Wei woke up the following morning and freshened up before proceeding to the kitchen. She opened the refrigerator, and in it she saw eggs, tomatoes, green chilies, and onions. She made an omelet, took some bread from the refrigerator, and brewed tea. With her breakfast ready, she sat down in the TV room and put on the news, hoping that there might be updates regarding her former self, Li Wai. There were many reports about his assassination, showing how a bullet had pierced through his head.

After eating, Mai Wei started washing her plate. Then she started going out to the villa. In there, she tried to figure out what structure that was. It was so huge and towering that she thought it looked similar to the villa she would have if she had her previous life. The whole day was wasted playing computer games. Nobody went out of the house.
She prepared for bed as the night fell. She glanced at her image in the bathroom, heaving a sigh. "It is really me. It will take time getting used to this body and these new feelings. Now I need to act like a woman," she thought to herself. After bathing, she got into bed and soon fell asleep.
She was suddenly awakened at 11:30 by an earthquake. She jumped out of bed and ran to take cover under it. The earthquake stopped after five minutes, and she came out from under the bed and wondered, "What was that? Why is there an earthquake now?" The room was in disarray. She retrieved her mobile phone from the ground and found the screen slightly fractured. She turned it on to scan for news.
This was not the most shocking news; images and videos were depicting the sky torn open with innumerable red eyes gazing down. No one knew what had happened, and everybody was afraid. The government asked the public not to panic, as they were going to solve this problem. There were all sorts of wild theories ranging from aliens, the apocalypse, and even dimensions opening, and people were ecstatic over gaining superpowers.
But Mai Wei felt that this was real, and she considered a series of thoughts in this mind. "If extraterrestrial beings could divide apart the sky, it has to be quite incredibly potent. They might imprison any person, and neither can nuclear bombs resist their action".
Mai Wei looked through the window. Her wide-open eyes at the gaping of the sky, divided by countless dots painted in deep red, gazed widely into space, and murmured to herself, "What is this?" "Just yesterday, I was dead and had to readjust everything, but it seems yet another problem waits for me. Sigh, and now it looks like I'm not destined for easy things."
She realized if superpowers did exist she had to be strong. She didn't want to attract predators that were just looking for an easy way to use her because of her gorgeous new body. She picked up her phone and started scrolling through the news feeds. There were stories about air anomalies and other weird things but also a lot of junk. She became angry and turned off her phone.
As an attempt to divert herself from the overwhelming situation that she was facing, Mai Wei cleaned her room. Clearing her room, Mai went back to sit on the bed and sat in a daze. Shaken up by the ominous-looking sky and the earthquake, Mai knew that she had to become stronger and adapt to all these changes.
