The soldiers left me alone for the rest of the day after I left and I could hear them whispering things like "Monster" or "How is that even possible?". Well, they have a point there. Even I think what I did was quite monstrous in terms of power. I just shot a bunch of power at them, with no technique, and they were cut to pieces along with the landscape. Not to mention the attack was just a drop in the river of soul energy I currently possessed.
I guess thats what happens when a Chaos Dragon that is descended from the Gods fuses with your soul.
I spent the night refining my body and soul, learning how to control them more efficiently. Being a sword is definitely new for me and I was just discovering the possibilities. Speaking of which, I've also decided in future fights to use a normal sword rather than my soul energy. Using a normal sword would help me gain insights into swordsmanship and would help me avoid freaking people out.
In the blink of an eye I saw the sunlight coming in through the cracks of my lodge. It's time to leave. As I exited the door I saw that nothing was out of the ordinary, no angry mob to kill the monster. The soldiers were standing watch on the walls and sparring, as usual. Meh. Outside of the gate I encountered Peery waiting for me.
"Fang, before you leave I would like to give you the thanks of all of the soldiers here. If you didn't do what you did a majority of us would have died. We all owe you our lives." He inclines most of his blobby mass towards me in a bow.
I thought I was going to be questioned or something, this is better than expected. Good to know there are still some decent people. "It was no problem, you showed me such kindness how could I not repay it?" I blow it off.
Peery bows even deeper towards me, "You've saved me life twice, if there is anything I can do or provide to help you I would be glad."
"No problem, we probably won't be seeing each other in the future. I would do what any person in my circumstances would've done!" After all, I had only saved them because he impressed me with his style of fighting and because of the fact that all of the Dreeds I've seen have been assholes.
We said our goodbyes and I was back on the road. I came one way as a slave, now as a traveler. Feels nice.
I walked down the road at a moderate pace, enjoying the scenery. The four moon's sillhouettes could be seen in the sky, the sun was normal at least. I passed through a vibrant green forest filled with all types of life. The scent of the air was refreshing. At one point, a great gray direwolf even walked by me for a while before leaving back into the forest. What a friendly place!
I arrived in a plains area, the road could be seen for miles ahead. How relaxing, I had forgotten the simple of joy of travelling in my previous quest for power. The sun hung low and the sky darkened quickly. Soon enough night arrived. A break sounds nice tonight, I haven't had the pleasure of being lazy in a long while. The mastery of my body, the foundation of swordsmanship, was good enough for the moment. There's no point in rushing things.
I laid down in the middle of the road and closed my eyes for some deep sleep.
*Clop Clop* *Bump Bump*
"What the hell?" Someone says.
Something just hit me. I open my eyes and look around for the culprit. A southward bound wooden carriage slowly came to a stop about twenty meters away from me. A black slime hops out from the driver's seat and slides over as I get up.
"What the hell were you doing lying in the middle of the road? You could've been killed!" His eyes scan my body for any injury but is surprised when he seens nothing.
"What happened father?" A feminine voice comes out of the carriage.
"Just stay in there!" He responds. "Well, seeing as how you're fine I'll be leaving."
Maybe I can hitch a ride? Having company would be nice. "Wait, do you think I could hitch a ride with you? I see you're heading south. I can serve as a bodyguard for no pay if needed."
He looks me up and down, "You think I would give some stranger a ride? Not to mention you're a human, how good could you be at fighting? In your dreams."
He slides back to the carriage and the surprisingly normal horses in front begin moving. Playing hard to get are ya? You'll be giving me a ride, just you wait!
I swiftly jog next to the carriage and keep pace with it. The father looks back at me with amusement before turning back to driving.
Eight hours later...
He now looked annoyed at my persistence. The carriage stopped at his calls and he jumped off the side and slid up to me once again.
"What's your problem?" He says.

"Just give me a ride man, I'm dying here!" I fake panting and sweat suddenly comes pouring off me in waves.
He sighs, "Get in."
Sometimes I like to set random goals for myself and am very persistent in accomplishing them. What can I say, I have a competitive nature.
A delighted look comes on my face and I erase the sweat from my body before jumping into the back of the carriage.
He sighs and shakes his blobiness before getting back into the driver seat. We set off again.
Inside the carriage I see a variety of materials often seen in homes, such as pots and pans, a variety of vegetables, aaaaand thats it. A slimmer slime than the ones I've seen so far is sitting there, the daughter I presume. She's a dark green color. So this is what comprises females of the slime race, huh? Think of a male slime as a cube and a female slime as a rectangle with shorter width/length.
She jiggles a little bit when she sees me. "So you're the guy that father's been grumbling about this entire time! My name's Elina, nice to meet you!" She says in a cute little voice.
HOW ADORABLE. "My name is Fang, nice to meet you too!" I smile and take a seat opposite of her.
"Do you have any stories?! I used to read all about knights and monsters back at the house before we left!" She has no reservations and asks me excitedly, jiggling in place.
SO CUTE. I gladly tell her many stories of my old world and of some of my travels there. She listens attentively, seemingly entranced. We eat a lunch of hard bread, me out of insistence on her part, and I continue.
We play some games from both worlds and we sleep when bored. Slimes don't technically need to sleep, but they can if they want to.
At one point while she's asleep, I go over to the Greery, the father. "So why is a Dreery like you fleeing south?" I ask.
He looks startled before replying, "I used to work as a tax collector in the Empire and some of the higher ups were upset that I wasn't getting enough money..." He trails off and remains silent. I go back to my spot and stare off into space.
*Yawn* Elina wakes up. A short silence ensues. "Fang, will you be my friend?" She asks a sudden question. "Of course I'll be your friend Elina." How could I deny her? Her coloring brightens up at my answer and she asks me to tell her more stories.
When she goes to sleep again, I shuffle over to the driver area. I make a little noise.
"Do you know what the punishment for treason is in the Dreedy Empire?" Greery asks. I remain silent.
"Summary execution. The higher ups were angry at the taxes I was bringing in, but that was all the people had. How could I extort them for more?" Silence.
"I had some connections, so they didn't dare doing anything to me. No, they got Elizabeth." His voice is stuttering a little. "They accused her of high treason... for 'preventing me from doing my duties'... It was such a bullshit reason but she was a Blooey, so no one objected."
"Elina's half Dreery, half Blooey, so she's been harrassed since she was young. I just wanted to give her a better life in the south." He remains silent after saying his piece.
I go back to my spot. More time passes by...
"Hey Fang, we have a problem here. Bridge is seems to be broken." Greery says. I look over at Elina, "I'll be back in a bit, I'm going to go help solve the problem." "Kay!"
I jump out of the wagon and see a fifty meter long broken bridge, irreparable without building an entire new bridge. Looks like the river flooded or something. "Greery, I'm going to go around and check if theres another place to cross!"
I take off running and do indeed find a crossing about four miles down the way, it's a little dangerous but I could make it safe to cross. About a minute had passed since I left.
I run back and within a mile my keen ears pick up some noises, men talking. I speed up to see what's going on. I'm nearing the location in but a moment's notice.
I cross around a bend to see armed humans surrounding the carriage. Oh shit. I hear the voices more distinctly now...
"The damned broken bridge actually worked! I thought it was just going to be a waste of time." One voice says.
"Did you see that guy beg for mercy? Ha! And that dark green monster with him, wonder where the hell he got her?" Another says.
"They only have pots and pans! They're more poor than we are!"
I draw closer and see two gray, solid figures. The larger one was covering the smaller one, both of them had been slashed in half by what looked like a great sword.
