Chapter 1

Ms. Hana Yellow sat in her doctor’s chair watching the seconds move ever so slowly. The minute had inched forward to complete its rotation. Two minutes to 10.

It had been a little more than a month since she left the job as the head doctor at the hospital and started a clinic by herself. Although she was a doctor, she still preferred ‘Miss’ before her name – just sounded well with her name.

Her light blue eyes glimmered as she tapped the pen on the prescription pad in front of her. She had her bright yellow hair neatly tied behind her head, although a bit of it hung over her eyes.

It was almost closing time. She did not have many customers today but she had a good old lady who thanked her a bit too heartily for the medicines she had been giving and praised her beauty.

“Oh what a nice beautiful young lady you are…”

‘YOUNG’

She was anything but young now, she thought. She had just finished thirty and her friends hosted her a surprise party, with their husbands. Husbands. Her love life flashed before her eyes, which was over in a second because she didn’t really seem to have one.

She remembered having a boyfriend once in college or something, but it had been ages since they went their different ways.

A soft, elderly voice brought her back from the dreaming.

“Miss?”

It was Mrs. Jane Hadbridge, the assistant in the clinic. She was a calm caring woman about sixty years of age and happily agreed to Hana when she asked her to be the assistant, for a monthly salary of course.

“It’s nearly closing time, is it fine that I leave? There won’t be any more patients, surely.” She said calmly.

Hana glanced at the clock and quickly turned to Mrs. Hadbridge.

“Yes, Mrs. Hadbridge, you can leave.” She said strongly. It was going to be her responsibility to lock the doors today, though Mrs. Hadbridge would stay very late normally and lock the doors before going home. In the morning it was Hadbridge’s responsibility to unlock the doors and clean the clinic before Hana would arrive.

“Thank you Miss Hana” She gave a sweet smile and hurried towards the counter.

“Don’t forget to come early tomorrow! We have an early appointment.” Hana said with a slightly louder voice

“Yes, Yes, I remember, Miss Hana. You can always depend on me.”

Hana heard the footsteps hurriedly retract and a minute later she couldn’t hear them anymore. She had left now. Now Hana was the only one in the building. She looked at the clock again. Ten. In thirty minutes she would have closed the doors and drove off her small cute scooter. What could even happen? Hana didn’t know what the future had for her.

--

In the dark alleyway a man in a posh blue suit stumbled and tried to keep his conscious. He was bent as he walked slowly, limping and dragging his left leg behind him. His right arm covered his torso trying to stop the bleeding, but it just bled through his fingers. He limped and limped until he reached a dark street which was deserted.

He desperately looked around for any kind of place to rest. His eyes blurred and slowly started blacking, but he kept conscious. Finally, he saw a green cross in about 20 metres, which although he hesitated, knew it was the place to go.

He slowly made it till there, bleeding as he took each step. The door was open and the man did not hesitate to barge in. As he came in, his eyes blurred more and more. The man fell to the ground with a thud and turned on his back.

Now the man in the blue suit lay on the ground of something he thought was a hospital of some sort, bleeding from his torso, staining his hand and his pants. He tried to call out but couldn’t even make a sound. As he slid into unconsciousness, he heard a voice from the inside-

“Mrs. Hadbridge? Is that you?”
