VW highschool, the place where all dreamers go to dream. Or at least, that's what the school motto says. Every student that you'll find on campus has a dream of their own. Some love to read, some to run a track and some are aspiring athletes. Alex Dukowski had a completely different dream… something hardly any teenager would dream of doing ‘cleansing the world of evil, specifically the bloods’. What are bloods you may ask? Well they're just like you and me! If…. We had an incurable addiction for human flesh and various supernatural abilities… then they're not like you and me at all. They are fast, unpredictable, cunning, have incalculable reflexes and are always deadly. Well, at least that's what the dusty old handbook says.
You see Alex wasn't a legitimate student at VW he was just placed there. Enter “S.T.A.K.E”, a brotherhood of the best blood hunters of all time, the best of the best, the only ones who could stand in the way of the bloods and literally ‘sever’ their connection to reality and prevent them from causing any more harm. Blood hunters are specially judged on their potential by “the oracles” , a mysterious group of masked bloodhunters with a lifetime’s worth of experience.
They are selected as young as 6 and willingly recruited to S.T.A.K.E through their parents (who the oracles subsequently kidnap and persuade them to hand over their kids but we won't question that whole kerfuffle now). They then undergo rigorous training at “point break”, S.T.A.K.E’s top secret headquarters until they are ready to conduct missions without the need of a mentor by their side. And it just so happened that Alex’s first assignment was to investigate a string of missing students due to, you guessed it, a possible blood intrusion within VW high school.
Now since these creatures look exactly like regular humans it can be hard to spot them and that's what Alex's goal was. Find a way to identify them and then take the fight to em’! But right now he had other matters to attend to...
Alex had to keep up his school persona as “Alex the Trailblazer” , he had large broad shoulders, scruffy black hair and lightly tanned skin. But that was his nickname as captain of the football team. It was the first game of the season and it was time to defend his title! so off he matched out of that large metal gate and onto the field he soared! Scoring touchdown after touchdown Alex was the golden goose their school team needed to get to the nationals! As he leapt forward to take the last punt…. Catastrophe, the ball tripped him and he'd taken a massive hit to the knee… dammit. “DUKOWSKI! BENCH! NOW!” the coach yelled.

“GAAH DAMMIT! I ALMOST HAD IT!” Alex yelled. But it was no use, he was benched for good. As he wandered off into the locker room he bumped into a girl in the hallway who seemed to have a headband holding her hair up with the rest tied into a ponytail and also seemed to he wearing a bright red and white striped cheerleaders uniform, who subsequently dropped all the pom-poms she was carrying and tripped forward into Alex's arms “WOAHH! careful there missy… you don't wanna break something on game day… heh!” Alex apologised reflexively. “Oh! No it's totally my fault I wasn't looking where I was going… I'm late to cheer practice and- and-” the girl was frantic herself. “say you're the new cheer captain aren't you… umm… ha-” “Harper! The names… Harper! Harper Locke! Nice to meet you, jock! Uhh…”. “Alex! My name's Alex… Alex Dukowski… Well good luck with cheer practice Harper, i gotta hit the showers, glad we met though.” he said, semi sarcastically
As the two parted ways, Alex continued towards the showers to examine his injury. “the cheerleadin’ captain huh? I've gotta say she was kinda cute… who knows maybe I'll get to talk to her again after the game if I don't DIE of boredom in this musty ass locker room… huh what's this?”. Alex opened his locker to find a yellow folded note, it was a communiqué from S.T.A.K.E. he scoffed as he unfolded it to read… “dear agent. We've got good news and bad news. The bad news is the blood situation in your location has gotten worse, there seems to be a few in your vicinity of the highschool but one seems to be the heavy hitting offender. Luckily, we found a simpler way to deal with them. Beside this note you'll find a carefully concealed folded blade in the wall of your locker. it's made of Atrianite, a metal we've proven to be quite effective against those snivelling creatures! Godspeed agent!”. “Hmm… a sword…” he inspected the glowing blue fluorescent blade… interesting. I'd better keep this on me.” He said as he slipped the again folded sword into his gym bag.
“Game's probably over by now… I should go find that sweetheart again…”
He walked across through the hallways and field to find that very same cheer captain flagging him down on the other side of the pitch “hey! Alex! Over here!” As he wandered over she was eager to tell him about the details of the game “We were awesome they were like wham and then the other team was like bam! And I cheered on so well I was like gimme an I!” Harper rattled on about how the game was to an oddly interested Alex “I bet you were amazing!”.
And as soon as their conversation lapsed, dark storm clouds started to pull in, it was going to rain. “Awh! I don't have my bus pass today. I was planning to walk home and save some money! Shit!” Alex was frantic. “Oh! Here's an idea! Why dontcha. come back to mine? I only live a few blocks away!” Harper suggested. “M- me? You'd do that?” Alex asked embarrassedly. “Well of course! I love helping people!” She smiled a bit mischievously but he thought nothing of it as they walked out the school gate and off to her house, this was the start of something very… peculiar.
