Magic?

As I agonized over the fact that I had ended someone's life, my stomach began to growl. Even though killing is tragic, I cannot forget the basic needs of my body. I then moved closer to the corpse, and after a moment of hesitation, I bit into the wild boar with full force. My eyes lit up while the taste surged over my taste buds; its taste reminded me of the Iberian pork that my old boss had given us during the 100th anniversary of the company. While I was comparing the wild boar, I began to frantically devour the carcass.

(A/N: even if he remembers the event, he has no memory of his boss, his colleagues, or any other details, only the context of discovering the taste of Iberian pork.)

After about 30 minutes, all that was left was a strange, brilling stone from the boar. I wondered what this strange stone could be, so I asked.

"System, could you tell me what this stone is?"

The answer surprised me: "It's not a stone, but a magic core."

"Magic cores: magic cores are mystical artifacts that only emerge upon the death of a being with magical powers. These cores are formed by the concentration and crystallization of residual magical energy that permeates the essence of the deceased individual. When a magical being dies, this energy comes together to form a core, a magical crystal."

"The uses of magic cores are varied and depend on the original creature. For magical beasts, incorporating a magic core into their being can augment their natural magical powers, enhance their inherent magical abilities, and sometimes unlock latent magical talents."

"For humans and other intelligent creatures, magic cores are often used in crafting magical items. These cores can be embedded into artifacts, talismans, enchanted weapons, or other magical items to grant special properties or magical abilities to those items."

Hearing the answer, I began to look carefully at the magic core in front of me. It was relatively small (about the size of a quail egg) compared to the size of the wild boar (3 m). It was really small; I asked why, and the answer was actually very logical.

"The size of a magic core depends on three characteristics: the amount of magical energy of the creature killed, the rate of crystallization, and the purity of the magic core. In the case of this Tauronchasse core, it doesn't have much magical energy; the crystallization rate in this region is around 75%, and surprisingly, it has high purity."

To better understand the magic cores, I then asked for the purity classification as well as what could change the crystallization rate.

"The purity of a core is divided into four states: lower, normal, high, and pure."

"Attention: The normal level spends ambient magic energy; if there is more ambient magic energy, the purity will also be higher than in other regions."

"Regarding the crystallization rate, it depends on the amount of ambient magical energy; in the general case, the more beings or resources with a magical ability, the higher the ambient magical energy."

Now that I understood a little better what a magic core was, it was now time to absorb this core. I then asked how to do it because it was the first time I had done it.

"There are two known ways to absorb a magical core: the first is to eat it, and the second is to channel the energy into the core in order to introduce it into the body of the individual wishing to access this energy."

Hearing the ways, I had no idea how to use the second method. I quickly decided to use the first method, quickly swallowing the kernel, which had a slight sweet taste. I lay down, waiting for it to clear. Surprisingly, apart from a slight feeling of heat, I don't feel anything else, as I was expecting some kind of pain.

After what seemed like half an hour, the feeling of heat disappeared, so I began to return to what I considered my house, where I found my brothers, who were still sleeping.

Having nothing else to do, I started looking more closely at my status.

Name: Vincent (temporary)

(A/N: He still identifies himself as Vincent, but having lost all these memories, he is no longer Vincent, so in a future chapter he will be baptized by the gods like any new life in the world of Zephyria.)

Sex: Hermaphrodite

Age: 1 day

Race: Divine Beast (Vulparia)

Level 1

Features :

Force: 10

Agility: 10

Intelligence: 20

Endurance: 15

Passive skills:

Rapid Learning (C), Survival Instinct (B), Magic Defense (E), Keen Hearing (C), Night Sight (B), Exceptional Smell (B), and Physical Resistance (D)

Active skills:

Absorb (unique, saddled): Absorb is a skill unique to its owner that allows its user to acquire a creature's genes, skills, knowledge, and even instincts. To do this, the user must consume the creature's magical core. Upon first assimilation, the user gains the shapeshifting ability. At S level, absorption allows the user to assimilate living creatures in addition to magic cores. This ability is very powerful, but it can also be dangerous. If the user is not prepared, they may lose control of the process and become overwhelmed by the creature's energy.

"Attention: the capacity for metamorphosis is distinct from absorption."

Magical Affinities:

Fire

Vent

Water

Earth

Lightning

After looking at and reading my status and my new skill, I asked the system why my status had changed in this way.

"The change obtained in the display as well as the acquisition of the new skill are due to a thorough scan of the host. The system performed a deeper scan on the host to reveal possible hidden skills, titles, and stats the host might have but that were unavailable or sealed."

"Attention: the system has no way of knowing how to unseal or make available the data identified by the scan."

"Noticed: The system can automatically change the host's status display if it sees fit to change it, but the host can request that adjustments be made to make it more readable."

After reading his answer, I wondered how I could unlock my unique skill. Based on my memories of the novels I read when I was still human, the heroes unsealed or acquired their unique skills in battles where they put their lives on the line with little chance of survival or dying before being miraculously saved by their teammate. I know it's crazy, but I can only assume that you have to overcome very difficult trials to have this kind of power, so I will strive to have very harsh trials to unseal my skill. I must protect my brothers.

After making my resolution, I asked the system how I could accelerate my growth in order to better protect my family. Surprisingly, the system was able to respond to me quickly.

"Attention: Accelerating the host's growth could be achieved by consuming more magic cores, honing their magic affinities and skills, and actively absorbing environmental mana."

"Noticed: The host should be warned that these intensive practices could lead to unforeseen changes in their psyche, energetic instabilities, and increased sensitivity to mana."

As the system informed me of what could accelerate my development, I asked

"System, do you have a method to actively absorb mana as well as be able to use my affinities?"

"Basic mana absorption can be accomplished by focusing on deep breathing and visualizing environmental energy entering the body. To learn how to use their elemental affinities, the host might begin with focused meditation on each element, consciously connecting to earth, water, fire, air, or lightning. Hands-on exercises, such as handling small matching items, could also strengthen the connection and facilitate future use of these affinities."

"Noticed: The proposed methods are based on several novels that the host read in his previous life."

"Noticed: the system, by carrying out a thorough scan, recovers the host's memory in order to complete its archive, and helps the host in its life."

While the answer satisfied me, the system's remark made me frown. Who would have thought that the system could have seen the thoughts during the deep scan?

(A/N: Our MC doesn't have any eyebrows per se, because he's a fox. Foxes have a thin line of hair above their eyes, but it doesn't necessarily look like eyebrows like those we find in humans. (These hairlines are not as distinct as the eyebrows and do not form an expressive line above the eyes.)

Under the guidance of the system, I then took a big, deep breath with the thought that the environment was filled with mana and that in my inhale, the mana was entering my body. It was then that my eyes saw for the first time. Once the mana, small particles of a pale blue or white color, infiltrated my little body, a refreshing sensation invaded my mind like a good cold shower after a day under the blazing sun.

It was at this moment that my journey to multiple worlds began!
