We are in a world where magic has seemingly come out of nowhere and the government and many others form laws and each type of magic is viewed in society different. The main character is a boy not concerned with any of that. He just stays at home with his sister and somewhat eccentric father. He seems to have trauma relating to lightning. What could have caused this trauma? Why doesn't he go to school? What is the odd shadow below his feet?
