I Become a Cloud Knight?
Well I guess I`ll start from the beginning.
When Royal Road first came out people were exclaiming how amazing the realism was, how the grass was so green, how it swayed with the wind, how it felt so smooth yet bristly to touch. Seriously the closed beta testers need to shut up about the grass. is what I was thinking as I was listening their first impressions on the Royal Road home page. They were streaming live closed beta test footage, only 5 people were selected for the closed beta, which was like announcing a planet full of hungry kindergarteners that they have a plate of the world's most delicious, fluffiest, softest and freshest baked cookies ever. And after watching the giant tsunami wave of children come flooding in, tell them that they only had five cookies .
When the beta testers first spawned in Royal Road they arrived in a wide plain outside of the castle, with lush green trees, flowers, cute rabbits and other small animal- Hey wait did I Just see a Rapppie from PSO2?
Nah~ can't be. Anyways where was I? oh and grass that covers the entire expanse of the plain far past the horizon. Unable to keep looking at those 5 idiots jumping around and acting as if Virtual reality technology was just invented I shut down my computer .

Two weeks later my pre-ordered Royal Road pod arrived UPS mail service. Unicorn LTD. must have some reallly deep pockets to be send these pods with no shipping and handling fees.
After i ran through the installation process and gathered all the basic information I needed to know off the Royal Road website, I rested myself in the Pod's gel mattress, and dived into the world of royal road.
After the start up sequences began, the inside of my pod began to fade away and multicolored polygons filled my view, creating the start-up screen for Royal Road. I entered my username/password, had a potential-lawsuit-in-the-making body scan, into a completely blank white environment. Then i looked up to see a red haired girl sitting in a chair floating off the ground. She looked at me with a bright smile on her face and said "hello you're our very first player, you'll have me, a GM guide you through the character creation process ;D" (note when I put words in asterisks (*) It's what the main character is thinking in his head)
*how am I the first character I spent 30 minutes pulling info off the internet o.e, did they just boot up the servers now or something?* "First off what race do you want to be?" I really didn't care very much and offhandedly I said "meh Demonic elf" as half a joke. But Lolidragon took it seriously(if you didn't get the reference go read 1/2 prince), "hmm... there's no such race available at the moment, but I'll inform my superiors about your request", and vanished before I could tell her I was kidding. A minute later she reappeared with a slight smirk on her face, as if she won an argument. "OK since you're our very first player to log on, Unicorn LTD. president decided to grant your wish ;D"
Suddenly a life size hologram of myself appeared in front of me, only it wasn't really me. He was about 5ft 10' Had long black hair almost reaching the shoulders, longish side bangs coming down in front of the ears, with a slightly slimmer build than mine. And that's where the similarities stop, His ears were pointed and protruded out an inch and a half, his eyes were a deep red his lips were a bit too pale to considered human. But most importantly was his gaze and stature, he stood in a manner much too noble for my tastes, as if he was an aristocrat looking down on everyone in his path. And the way he stared, it seemed as if he could tell the exact time you had left to live with a single glance. The dark black hair seemed to make him all the more sinister. " I want silver white hair" with a snap of her fingers my avatar's hair instantly became lighter, and much less intimidating. Lolidragon just kept staring at him, until I got bored and told her to move on . "all right now what do you want to be called?" asked a dejected Lolidragon. "Prin- ,no wait, Alf" Afterwards i chose to start in Leaf bud city(south of Rosenheim which hadn't been discovered yet) and with that ended my long tedious character creation.

I spawned in Leaf Bud City's main square, with a constant stream of players logging in and spawning nearby. Hundreds of players had already started in Leaf bud City, and with the massive flood coming in, it's as if I didn't even exist. With no particular goal in mind to fill my four weeks confined to the city, I just wandered the streets after half an hour of wandering I came to the realization that *I'm seriously bored. How is this different from real life?* Suddenly the image of those 5 moron beta testers rolling around in the grass came to mind, and I had the oddest desire to find a patch of grass and just sleep.
After an hour of walking I saw a Knight wearing the uniform of the Church of Light. I walked up to him and asked "sir knight where could I find a patch of grass?"(at this point I was wondering if this city full of cobblestone buildings and paved roads had a single blade of grass growing in it). oddly enough he jumped in surprise and said "who's there?" *I'm Standing right in front of him!?* I call out again the knight again, and he now seems to be looking in every possible direction trying to find me. Starting to sense that something was off I grab him by the shoulders, and finally he seems to notice me. He nearly fell backwards . For some odd reason Strange realization was written all over the knights face. "Oh it's you Knight-Captain Cloud. Did you need something?" *lol whut?* confused I said the only thing that made sense in my mind ."Sorry i have no idea who you are o.o" "Ah you probably don't remember me, my Name's Adair, Knight-Captain Sun just appointed me his vice-captain last week" And finally Adair remembered what I was looking for "Oh right you wanted a patch of grass to drift in right?" *drift? I'll just go along with it o.e* ".... sure?" "In that case you should try the Palace Gardens, just follow this path north to reach the Castle, then just go through the gate and walk around the castle to the back."
Feeling even less important than before i started walking towards the castle. From behind I heard "He's already out of sight, how does he do that?" *I'm Still right in front of you dammit!*
*new skill learned* Mirage step- Be completely invisible players npcs monsters and animals. mp cost 20/second. Mp cost increases significantly when the user feels emotions that make them noticeable(I.e Anger, bravery) When used to attack, if the target did not die in the first attack chances of being noticed: 80%.
