There once existed a kingdom. It was the kingdom of Eugol, and—at one point in time—it was a truly amazing place to live. Despite being a home to many species, there was somehow almost no discrimination. With universal rights, advanced technology, and affordable health care, it was an oasis in a world of ever-changing nightmares. However, this was all a long time ago. The kingdom fell, and all the citizens, whether they be from the lowest of peasants to the highest of royalty, all died to a deadly disease.
During the golden age of the kingdom, in the dark and dank sewers, monsters existed. Of course, while monsters did survive in those filthy tunnels, the people of Eugol ensured that those monsters were kept in check. After all, any monster, with the power of the system, a universal tool to all, has the chance to become a fearsome beast that can raze entire cities.
These “sweeps” that the kingdom did, however, weren’t perfect, and some creatures slipped by and reproduced. Some helpful monsters—like the slimes that disintegrated waste—were allowed to live in controlled amounts, others managed to sneak by the checks of the people of Eugol. One of these monsters were the monstrous rats. Related to mundane rats, they were stronger, faster, and much more vicious and ready to fight. Think chihuahua’s with rabies but worse.
A certain rat was born one day in those sewers, and by some miracle of luck and chance, it managed to manipulate its [Status] before it was born. All creatures are capable of this, but most aren’t even conscious enough to act on the barely-awoken instincts that tell them to call out to this mysterious power. This rat, however, was, and in turn, managed to—by some miracle—shove all its [Ability Points] into [Luck] as well as purchasing the skill [Plague Bearer] with its [Skill Points].
The rest, as one can most likely assume, is obvious. The rat survived in the disgusting grime of the sewers, and at one point in its life, encountered a human. This chef was in the bustling kitchen of an often visited inn, and by the reflexes whipped into him during his time as an adventurer beforehand, he went to smash the rat with the wooden spoon he was holding.
Luckily for the rat, however, he missed, and the rodent crawled back to the sewers from whence it came. While the man didn’t think much about the incident, he would soon find he became extremely ill from some incredibly infectious disease he just happened to catch. The sickness, from that point in the middle of the commoners’ commercial district, would spread like a wildfire through the populace.
By the hour, people fell ill and died from this mysterious plague, and eventually, the kingdom died out, leaving only barren streets and empty buildings to remember the people who once lived there.
This was all unknown to the very start of the disease, though, and it lived its life in the filthy sewers. That was until one day, it heard a message from the system.

As the rat… Well, it didn’t read the text, the knowledge just came into existence into its mind as it skimmed the content. So, as the rat skimmed-though-not-reading-but-still-understanding the content, a sound came from ahead in the tunnel. Then, a massive wave of rainwater and sewage came rushing through the sewers, impacting the rat with such force that its neck snapped and its head hit the stone beneath it with such an impact that its small skull broke.
