“Foul demon cultivator, the Second Jade Alliance of the Seven Holy Hibiscan Sects has ordained your death!”
“You purged nine generations of my clan and razed my sect! I will decapitate you!”
“Eugene, billions must have died from your actions! Hand over the demonic object and I will make your death swift!”
Eugene caressed the jade rectangle before him. The cultivators assaulting his sect were so unrefined it was hopeless for them to understand what he had created. A tiny sliver of the Holy Book, it contained manifold multitudes of power.
He looked down at the assembled army of thousands of inferior enemies marching up the steps. They had been surprised to find a complete absence of the members of the Eugenian Demon Sect. Eugene, it appeared, was so certain of his victory he didn’t even bother mustering his forces. As he meditated in complete serenity, his three dragons circled around him.
Some amongst the cultivators readied their attacks. Reticent to allow them to bring him harm, Eugene tapped into the power of the Holy Artifact.
“Kevin’s License Plate” said Eugene.
Every cultivator in the Blue Realm and the Red Realm present instantly died, their heads rupturing in a tornado of blood. Simply hearing the words was enough to break their souls. Those in the Purple Realm were the only ones capable of surviving. Yet, Eugene had only expended 1% of the power of Kevin’s License Plate in that attack. He had not expected it to be so potent. Such was the power of the Shard of Hibiscus!

The only enemies left were the few dozen Sect Elders of Jaja rank, the first rank of the Purple Realm. They were thrown to the floor by the heavenly power and only slowly began to rise back up. Eugene could already sense that some fundamental damage had occurred to their souls. The only man on the battlefield entirely unharmed was Eugene. Being of the rank directly ahead in power of the Jaja rank, he did not fear Kevin’s License Plate. Wary to spend any more power of the holy artifact, he prepared the final ritual.
After recovering from the devastation, the Sect Elders charged Eugene, throwing everything they had at him in a final desperate gamble. Eugene, unconcerned, meditated in complete serenity. Engulfed in a purple light, he vanished like vapor. The cultivators of the Second Jade Alliance stood dumbfounded.
Eugene’s consciousness drifted, untethered to time. The true power of Kevin’s License Plate was that it erased context. To a lesser cultivator, that idea would appear nonsensical. But the true revelation Eugene had was that by taking Kevin’s License Plate from the context of the holy book in which it formerly lay, he imbued within it the power of removing other things from context. After removing himself from the context of linear time, he pondered the question: backwards or forwards? To travel to the past would be to take all his knowledge of future events with him. But as Eugene was deep in thought, he discarded that idea. Going back would be a waste of potential. Why do the same thing over again? His plan of using his Demonic Sect to take over the world would surely succeed if he returned to the past with advanced cultivation and knowledge of how future events would play out. But that lacked ambition.
Eugene had been born as an A grade cultivator. Good, but not the best. As he progressed through the ranks of cultivation, his S grade peers surpassed him. Such is the reason why Eugene turned to the demonic arts. But Kevin’s License Plate presented him with an opportunity. Why insert his soul in his old body, when he could put it in the body of an S grade cultivator? And furthermore, why waste this opportunity on a person in the past? Eugene’s heart burned with curiosity. He wanted to see what would happen in the future, how cultivators would further refine the Hibiscan Arts in the years to come.
Eugene let his soul drift, searching for a suitable candidate. Ah! This one would do. S grade talent and firstborn son of a powerful and wealthy cultivator, this one was a good choice indeed. Kevin’s License Plate melted to nearly nothing as its power was burned to thrust Eugene’s soul into the future and seize the body.
