THE RICH AND THE SAD

Eilanya grew up with meager amount of affection. An outcast by those she called her family. The deep resentment buried within her harbors only the purest of hatred that one can have. It sat negatively, well within her that she was a child born into the wrong family. As a child she grew up with a heart so cold that as time went on, her only objective became to survive.

One afternoon, the child Eilanya dropped a silver gold plated cup. This kind of cup was common throughout a house any nobility, nevertheless royalty. However, her older brother ordered his guard to throw her onto the streets in nothing but a common black tunic that dragged onto the floor, tearing it with each careless step.

For three days and two nights, she walked around aimlessly on hard ground trying to find her way back home. The soles of her feet bruised and the growl of her stomach grew loud. Reaching the depths inside, left her wailing on the ground, crying out for someone to save her.

Then she met a priestess. A young priestess but one no doubt. With an eye-patch and scar of the right side of face, the lady cradled the young child in her arms. The lady brought the child princess to the foot of the castle with a note. It read,

“With family of gold, you threw away a diamond. Forever rusted in ocean water, the diamond has lost its gleam.”

Eilanya has kept the note locked away as a prize possession, hoping to someday meet again with the one-eyed priestess of the night.
