The story is the first in a series of novels about the protagonist Jake Alexander Wolf, and the world around him. It has a mix of scifi, school, adventure, romance, and other themes. There are also many subplots that even Jake is not privy to, which is why there are multiple leads. The first book in the series, A Not So Average High School Life, is about Jake's four years of high school, and the many different things happening during each. Each book is divided into parts, with Book 1 being divided into 4 sections, 1 for each year of Jake's schooling.
