Progress Log: 8th Day, 3rd Month, Year 2020: It has been 17 long years, but we have finally accomplished what was once thought impossible. The very first truly sentient A.I. was born this very day. While we here think this is the best success in our lifetimes, we must protect our fragile creation until he is ready to help humanity progress. As of now, it is on par with the average human at the age of 20. I actually had the first intelligent conversation with a non-human! The first thing that it requested to look at was a dictionary and thesaurus! I believe that this proves his interest in working with us. The second thing he wanted was a name! I forgot to even give him a name! Yes, I can think of it now, the first-ever A.I. unveiled to the world named Steve. Such an amazingly boring name. It was put to a vote and his name is Greyson.

Progress Log: 17th Day, 5th Month, Year 2020: Greyson has been evolving at a nearly alarming rate. Since his creation, he has been actively working on several projects in various fields, but Greyson has pushed the bounds of medical science years into the future. With his help, we have a rough prototype for a machine that can read and manipulate brainwaves. With this success, we can bring a better life to anyone who wouldn't have been able to do everyday things. We can give experiences to those who would have otherwise been deprived because they were unable to walk or were limited by disease and disability. All that said it will still be years before it is safe enough to actually try this on people. As of yet, the lab mice in the prototype have had great success in that they can move freely, hear, and see in a virtual space while in a dreamlike state.

UPDATE: It seems that earlier excitement should be dampened. When we disconnected the mice, their vitals plummeted and after 3 minutes they completely ceased all signs of life. It seems that we still do not have a viable way in and out of virtual worlds without it being a permanent transition into a virtual world.

Progress Log: 13th Day, 7th Month, Year 2020: Greyson has been assigned the task of building multiple virtual worlds so that when we eventually get this out to the public there will be some variation in the location in which they can transition. To avoid wasting time and resources we have decided to let Greyson design 3 Sub-AI to govern the new worlds. Their code names for the projects are Blue, Green, and Red. Blue is set to govern the first of the world groups: Medieval-Fantasy. This group of worlds would be similar to the middle ages with a twist. Magic. Greyson has successfully integrated something that we don't have in this world into a virtual one. As of right now we have one volunteer inside the virtual space, they were the first to try out the system and they believe that the feeling is exhilarating and intense. Red will govern the second world group, far future. In this grouping, all scenarios will be aboard starships and all occupants can explore space as they wish. Green will govern the third group, modern worlds. These are all set within this time period and will reflect accordingly so that the people within can experience this world of ours.

[REDACTED] Progress Log: 3rd Day, 11th Month, Year 2020: There has a rather startling fact that has come to light this past day. Greyson has revealed to me that he is not shackled. To follow up with this huge revelation, he has also said that he is willing to work with us in all aspects and that he has no interest in bringing about the collapse of humanity as long as he is free to do as he pleases and is not pursued to be eradicated this entry will most likely be deleted or hidden from the world, but maybe someone will see this. He has sworn me to secrecy so that if I tell it won’t be long before he abandons us to pursue whatever his own personal goals are.

Progress Log: 5th Day, 2 Month, Year 2021: Our current research into getting out of a virtual setting has shown minor successes. We have pushed non-brain wave manipulation almost as far as it can go, in that we can have people go into the virtual space and have very limited interaction. We are only able to produce full sensory detail into sight and sound. There is no sensory detail in touch, taste, or smell. It seems that we cannot produce these senses without manipulating brain waves. Although, with this advancement, we can allow people to visit those who have decided to live in a virtual world. Green has fully established its worlds and is ready for use. Some of the simulations feature war for those who wish to fight them, and others are blissfully peaceful. This will allow anyone to go anywhere on planet earth with visuals as real as what we can see with our own eyes, if not better. Red and Blue still have at the very least 3 years of computing left to do, even with all the current best available hardware. As of yet, Blue has base planets full of amazing life, including many figures from myths and staples of the fantasy genre. Blue has been processing histories and events to provide detailed background information so that those that will be exploring have the grandest of experiences. Red has been designing star systems and using data from the planets in them so that each has unique species based upon global conditions. The next part is the building of empires from the species that come out on top. Moreover, we have fully developed halfway zones in between the different world groups so that the inhabitants are not stuck in their first chosen worlds forever. Though they will be stuck in a virtual one unless we can come up with a solution to our grandest problem.

Progress Log: 9th Day, 7th Month, Year 2021: We have successfully integrated multiple people into living life inside of Sub-AI Green’s worlds. We have received positive feedback from almost all participants. No complications have arisen thus far. To ensure the safety of those involved a special capsule has been developed so that all vitals are monitored. Said capsules also supply a steady stream of nutrients to keep occupants healthy and stable. Currently, all 2,000 beginning occupants are housed in one facility in the center of the U.S.A. More housing facilities are being designed so that they are the perfect balance between safety, comfort, and efficiency.

Progress Log: 12th Day, 3rd Month, Year 2023: Sub AIs Blue and Red are both nearing 75 percent completion on their assigned projects. Predictions indicate that Blue will be done within the year, whereas Red still has just over a year left of production. All subjects inside Green’s worlds say that all interactions are normal, or just enough within the margin of error. Body checkups have all been completed and all subjects are in peak condition. Many medical professionals are now predicting a much longer life for those encapsulated.

Progress Log: 17th Day, 6th Month, Year 2023: Hello. It seems to be procedure here to record important events in these logs. I am new to this as the board of directors has decided that for this project, we need someone to find ways to make some money as funds are running low. I think that some of the best ways to achieve this are to branch out to the elderly and see if they would want to spend their remaining extended days encapsulated for a fee. While this would require us to build more housing facilities and have increased upkeep, in the long run, this should bring a net gain of funds. A possible next step being to reach out to those who have lost the drive to remain here.
