My name is Kaito Magami. I am something most people would refer to as a NEET. I'd never left my room since middle school, nor did I ever plan to. My parents deliver my food to my door. Unlike the rest of humanity, they actually understand my predicament. I won't get into specifics, but let's just say I can't stand being in the company of other people. Something about being forced to be social. Anyway, enough about me. You came for a story, and boy do I have one. For you to understand most of the stuff going on, I'll have to start from the beginning. Back when I was still a complete and utter shut in. Are you comfortable? Good. Let's begin.
It all started a few days ago. I was sitting in my room, browsing through the Internet as I usually did when bored. I had recently binge watched a show I needed to catch up on, and was out of things to do. Which as you'd expect, is a pretty terrifying concept for A NEET. It was at that time a popup had appeared in the corner of my screen. The popup was your standard fare. A white box, with the question 'Want a change?' in bold, red writing. Two options were placed underneath. Yes and no. Having literally nothing better to do, I clicked yes. The text box disappeared, and of course nothing happened.
I had no idea that it would be, one of the more stupid choices that I'd make in my life time. Something felt off immediately. It was if I had lost all feeling in my body. My sight was still normal, however my other four senses had stopped working entirely. This lasted for a minute, before I suddenly found myself falling. My senses had returned, however I had more pressing issues to deal with.
The fall lasted longer than my last issue. I was no longer in my room, but instead in the outside world, currently free falling at a high rate. Looking down, I could make out what looked like a relatively large city in the distance. Below me, was a large lake. The falling lasted for a few minutes (I counted, because what else was I supposed to do in order to pass the time), before I landed in the previously mentioned lake with a large splash, and an equally large amount of pain.
Getting out of the lake was quite difficult. Being a NEET, I had almost completely forgot how to swim. Luckily, I manged to do a (rather panicked) backstroke, to get myself to safety. After walking off the pain, I stopped to go over what had just happened. It was quite obvious that the weird popup was to blame. The fact that I was soaked, and had no idea where I was, reminded me of the more important problems I was facing. So promising myself to review everything later, I decided it would be best to check out the city I had spotted during my skydiving session earlier.
It was like something out of an RPG. One large wall surrounded the perimeter. Approaching the gate, I got a few odd looks from people walking in and out of the city. They were wearing the standard fantasy clothing. Cloaks, armour, anything even remotely RPGish. Entering the city, it once again looked like something out of one of the countless RPG's I had played. Ignoring my extreme social anxiety (not like I had a choice), I walked up to a guard and asked him about our whereabouts.
"Why, we're in the capital, citizen. Don't tell me you don't know where that is." Is what he told me. Followed by "And I have to say, those are some strange clothes you are wearing. Are you some kind of mage? Or perhaps you come from across the border?" Which I found to be quite rude. Hurt feelings aside, I had learned of my location. Using my bountiful Otaku knowledge, I pieced together what may of happened. For some reason, be it some cruel joke or fate, I had been sent to another world. The weird clothes and Archaic buildings supported my theory. It was at that moment I realized something. Until I found a way home (if there was one), I'd be forced to get outside and be active. Not only that, being in this world would require me to be social. I cursed God, before deciding screw it. I'd go along with it. The sooner this shit was over with, the faster I could return to the comfort of my room, and more importantly, my waifus.

My first step, was to find a tavern. This being a fantasy city, meant that there would be a Inn of some kind. And after some searching, I had found one. The 'Starlight Inn'. It was a large building. Three stories high, cream coloured walls, and a brick roof. Upon entering, my senses were assaulted by the smell of food mixed with the smell of booze. It was loud. Countless men and women wearing armour , cloaks, and casual wear, were all having conversations with one another. Behind a counter to the far left of me, was a woman with short brown hair. She was wearing what looked to be a business suit. Directly next to said counter, was a huge board with various papers posted onto it. A Quest board!
No better place to start than here I had thought. Approaching the woman, she smiled. "Welcome to the Starlight Inn Quest counter! My name is Ann. Hmm. I don't think I've seen you here before. Are you new?" I nodded and she quickly turned around. When she had turned around once again, she placed a card onto the desk. "I'll need you to fill in a few details. Things such as your name, what class you'd like to be. Those kind of things." I asked about the classes that we're available.
I'll give you a quick run down. There are four classes, each with their own skills and sub classes. Warrior, Mage, Thief and Priest are the basic ones. Each class has their own skills, such as sword arts and spells. Within each class, are a number of sub classes. An example being white mage and black mage. You gain skill points upon leveling up (defeating monsters, practicing your craft), which can then be used to gain new skills, and to upgrade old ones. [Got that? No? Too bad. Moving on.]
I chose warrior (Always have, always will), and filled in the rest of my details. Upon completion, the card flashed. My level, skills and name were now etched on permanently. Ann gave me some starting funds and gear for my class (Gained: Copper sword, Iron Armour, 1000g). The next few days were spent trying to up my level. Which brings us up to date.
I am currently level 5, with a few skills. With the funds I've amassed from grinding on easy mobs, I have a small room in the Inn rented out. It's cosy, but it's nothing compared to my room back home. Well, I'm going to leave it here for now. I have a big day ahead of me. I'm taking on a three star quest. Something about hunting down a Goblin king? I skimmed, but it seems easy enough. Well one things for certain. It seems my NEET days are over for the time being.
[AN: Hey guys, it's the author here. I'd really appreciate any constructive criticism that you may have for me. Trying to improve my writing's pretty difficult. Especially when you're as socially inept as I am. Lastly, some aspects from this are based on Konosuba. Things such as the class system and monsters coming up. Don't worry though, most of this comes from the old noggin, so there's plenty of fresh ideas here too. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the first chapter of what will hopefully be a series. See you next time. Or not. Kinda depends on feedback.]
