A small waterfall from the river, the creek flows silently with crystal clear water and hits the rocks gently underneath. A water droplet is separated from the falls carried by the cool wind and land on a golden fruit on a tree branch, where the tree has its other branches entangled with another tree. The two trees were close to each other with many of its branches entangled. 

Then a small hand came from beneath the branch of the fruit and removed the fruit from the tree. The hand belongs to a boy in gray robes, who looks seven or eight years old. His face looks were average with a hint of some innocence and some baby fat; Though the face was normal, but the boy’s eyes looked bright and clear without any gloom or disturbance.  The boy opened his mouth to take a large bite from the fruit and relishing the fruits taste.

 After eating the whole fruit, he lay down with his back against the stump of the tree and stretching his legs to relax, listening to streaming sounds and rustling leaves from the trees.

The trees are full of lush green leaves and golden fruits on the branches looks likes mesmerizing stars across green sky. This is the famous twin tree of the Twin - tree village which is named after. The village is located at the end of the large range of mountains and forest is the land of long knolls, meadows and start of vast land and which was not shadowed by the mountains, and comforted by excellent sunshine around the year.

There was large river which flows from northeast mountain range to the land with many branches across the knolls to plains. These places became an excellent land for farming and as the result many villages formed across the knolls and plain. “Xiao Li, hey. Xiao Li”, As he was relaxed, he heard someone shouting his name and he turned to see the person who was calling him.

It was a youth with a clear, sharp face and sharp, bright eyes which looks like it was filled with wisdom in contrast to his age. The youth has a well-toned body which can be seen through his gray robes and way the walks. The youth’s skin was slightly tanned was walking towards twin tree. The face looks somewhat angry. It was his brother Xiao Han.

“Hey, do you know I was searching for you all morning. You escaped from the chores at home to relax here”, Xiao Han said with refreshing smile. Xiao Li knows that he was caught escaping from chores. As the harvesting season is coming the farmlands are filled with golden wheats which are going to sell for the living expenses. So, this is busy season for the villagers.

Xiao Li went some distance down the knoll of the twin trees to see the courtyard of his medieval wooden house. His mother was working on the drawing water from the well in the courtyard. He went to the courtyard and shouted,” Mother, I will help”.

His mother Zhou Ting shook her head “little Xiao, I don’t need help with the water now, your father and brother will work all day in the farmland today. Take the lunch with them”, pointed to the packed lunch in front of the door.

Xiao Li took the packed lunch and went to farmlands where his father and brother were working. While walking towards the farmlands he saw a petite figure with short length brown hair with blue robe and skirt siting and swinging her legs on the bench near the house of the hunter. She looked thin and beautiful. She is Ling Tian, the daughter of the carpenter who lived in the village.

“Ling Tian, who are you waiting for, are you not helping your mother”, Xiao Li asked while walking towards her.

“Brother Xiao, I am waiting for my father here, who is talking to the hunter. If he saw any good quality trees near the village while he went for hunting”, she said.

“Brother Xiao, today all the children’s decided to go and play near large streams on the other side of the twin tree in the evening”, Ling Tian said with a cheerful look and looked like she can’t wait for the evening to come.

Xiao Li was elated to hear that, he thought they will try to catch some fishes for the dinner. He also told ling tan to remind him while going to twin tree in the evening as he thought he will be busy helping his mother inside his house. He may forget the time.

After saying goodbye to Ling Tian, he went to farmlands to deliver the lunch. The farmlands were full of lush golden wheat, which swings in tune with the breeze from the river as if they are dancing to the wind’s song. His father Xiao Long and his brother were harvesting the wheats and clustering them so that the wheats can be separated later. The farming farmlands were three-acre area

Xiao Li shouted towards his father as he walked, “father, I brought the lunch from mom and what to next”.

” Little Xiao, you can place the lunch near the wet mound and go help your mother”, his father told Xiao Li as he bends down to harvesting the wheats on the farmlands.

These Farmlands where his father hard work of their daily life. It can be gratifying to have this much yield on any season as they can’t cultivate the same crops and crop cultivation will take some time. They have done also other things while cultivating crops to get through their daily life. Their life in this village can be described neither poor living nor rich. As they don’t have to struggle to live, but also, they can’t enjoy and indulge in anything.

Xiao Li understands that he can’t help his father and brother work in farmlands as his mother has so many chores to do at home. With some reluctance to leave, he went home to help his mother. He was also looking forwards to the future where he can help his family.
