A World Cries

On a regular day on an even more mediocre evening, there was a wavering in the sky above a calm cityscape, and moments later that wavering opened to reveal an eye. Dread was the last emotion 2.94 million people felt before the entire state of Ohio was summarily reduced to 1 ⁄ 4 of its population. This phenomenon would come to be called “divine tears”. This repeated over every state, county, province, and any place a human could call home. what followed was no less harrowing as once the eyes closed and receded into the sky they left behind what seemed to be a gateway into another world and what peered back into the world was magic, monsters, and misery. Humanity in the face of extinction banded together in an attempt to fight back against this unforeseeable threat. The malkind as humanity would come to call the beast and fae that spilled forth from the sky were truly terrifying not only in power but in their sheer fantastical existence. Fairies that held the same grin a devil would, wolves the size of tanks cloaked head to toe in lighting, humanoids the size of oak trees capable of blending into the shadows. This was a threat technology could only do so much to quell. Fortunately, humankind had been given three gifts among them being the “terra system". through this, humanity was able to fight back and eventually claim most of the land that malkind ravaged but not without a cost. The great cataclysm as it would come to be known effectively sent humanity back to the Stone Age but with the help of the terra system it didn't take long for humanity to struggle and claw their way back to a technology akin to the Renaissance period although getting past that proved extremely difficult due to the odd energy’s the divine tears left behind. Alongside this came a rise of extraordinary warriors who made themselves the nobility of what could only be called a new world. Around the time humanity settled into something they could call their new normal, another wavering in the sky appeared over humanity's most populated city, this time they were prepared to lay down their lives and fight off the scourge of the malkind. As the portal opened to reveal its terrors, what poured out was not an impossible storm of monsters but a set of golden stairs that led to the ground, and what followed the stairs were the powerful footsteps of the envoys sent from beyond. Namely, the envoys of the races from beyond the portal such as the merfolk with colorful skin and scales that shimmer in the sun and webbed feet and powerful tails or the neopterra, an insectoid race host to various appearances and what appeared to be clans. They brought with them not only knowledge and a helping hand but a new age not of humanity but of terrakind.
