> Six months, six months of running around after everything. Six months of having to sell to Howard minor projects, just to keep himself afloat with his new and oh so fragile company. But he had finally done it after giving, and giving some more, he finally got his first product. The contract was signed, and his compagnie was going to finally get paid.
"Who knew, that the heath business was so damn cutthroats. I'll have to give Howard a call and thank him for the assist." Alex said as he sighed, he knew that Howard had place a call and ask for a favor in giving the contract to him.
Not that he was ungrateful, but it was a humbling experience all the same. Learning to navigate and plan in the business world had really been eye opener, sure he'd taking class about it and ask advice as well but to live it. Totally new way of seeing things, the ideology of going green and fair trade was nice but the reallity was completely different thing.
"I get it, why in the comic books so many evil business seem to alway make money. Going shady is very lucrative, but if want to have a positive impact and creat loyalty in my followers, I need to live by example. Which equals to the nightmare mode of doing things." Alex said as he looked at the mountain of paper work he had to go trough.
"Hey boss, I think your three o clock is here." A man said as he lean in the door frame.
Alex looked up and motion the man to send them in with a grunt. So far he had ten people working for him. Seven of which where busy on producing and researching his product, that left three very poor helpers in the office with him. Since he couldn't pay very much for the administer side, he was stuck with three guys that sadly were lazy, they did half the amount of work he needed them to do, but they did work.
For some time now, all three had demanded to get a piece of the pie. Alex at the time flatly refuse, these snakes had been with him for a few weeks and they had all seen the huge potential of his company. So they had approach him with veiled smiles, praising him and telling him that they all believed in the company, so if he let them have a piece of the pie, they will happily give him some money.
Alex was willing to be open to people, but not to a bunch of scheming snakes. It was painfully obviouse that they wanted to scam him somehow. So he politly refuse, and then told them to get back to work. Since they didn't get what they wanted, they beggan to half ass their jobs, they also where nice enought to mention just how he could motivate them again. By giving them twice the amount they ask the first time.
Which was why he had about four time the paper work on his desk compare to theirs. "I hope i find someone useful soon." Alex said to himself quietly.
Their was a knock at the door, Alex raise his head an took a good look at the person. His eyebrow rose up in inquiry, their standing before him was a black women, she was holding on to her purse like it was some kind of protective talisman. She was beautiful, deep brown eyes long dark curly hair a healthy figure a little on the skinny side, as if she hadden been eating well lately.
"Hello sir, am here for the job." She said in a nervous voice.
In the background you could hear laughter. If one was to really pay attention you could hear some high fives as well. Alex could guest what had happen, those Asshats probably mest with the job application some how.
"Could you close the door please, and please take a seat." Alex said as he motion her to come in, he left his paper work for now an gave hi full attention to his guest.
"Thank you sir." She quietly said, when she heard the laughting she knew she had been played somehow, but at least the man at the desk didn't look to be in the loop.
"I'll ask for you to forgive me for my surprise, since I believe that we have both been dupe by my employees lack of professionalism." Alex said with as much of a compassionate smile as he could offer.
"Its no troubled, just is the job still available." She said with a certain plea in her voices.
"I not sure, I was looking for a secretary to help me with my paper work. What job did you come in for?" Alex said he secretly hope that she had come for it. He really needed help.

She seem to fidget in her sear until her head bow down in defeat. "I came for the cleaning lady job sir." She said in a sad tone.
Alex look at her for a moment, he figure he could ask some questions who knows she might just be what he needed.
"Where are my manners, my name is Alexander Grey who do I have the pleasure of speeking to?" Alex said as he held out his hand.
She look up in surprise, she was expecting him to ask her to leave. She knew he was giving her a chance so she whit out any hesitation rose from her chair an took his hand.
"My name is Faith Bradley sir, It nice to meet you to." Faith said with a little more strength in her voice.
As they where shaking hands, Alex seem to get the fealing that he heard her name somewhere, but he just couldn't remember where. He figured that if it was important he would remember eventually.
"Its very nice to meet you miss Bradley." Alex said
"Its actually mrs Bradley sir, if you don't mind my husband is gone but not dead." Faith said
"Oh, sorry about your husband, care to elaborate?" Alex said
"Nothing much to tell, my husband has gone missing in the war. Im still hoping for him to come home." Faith said
Alex had strange sense that he heard this somewhere before, like some weird deja vue feeling you get some times. He through it to back of his mind and continued the interview.
"I hope he does to, now can you read and write without making to many mistakes." Alex said
"Yes sir, no problem on my end." Faith said
"Good, do you have any expirience in clerical work?" Alex said
"No sir, but am a fast learner. If you give me a chance I'll make you proud sir." Faith said with a fighter will in her voice.
"Do you have children?" Alex said
Faith seem to hesitates for a second. "Yes sir I do, a little baby girl sir." She said there was caution in her voice.
"That fine, do you have some one that could watch her, since its very likely you will work long hours here." Alex said
"I could but, I would much prefer not to be seperated from her for to long." Faith said, she bitt her bottom lip afraid that she had just ended her chance for a better life. But she would take back her words, she had lost her husband and she refuse to distantce her self from her child for a job. She would rather lose this opportunity then leave her daugther alone.
Alex pause to consider his options, normally one wouldn't take on some one like her who had no experience, but considering his current work force to a possible major upgrade. Let not forget that this women seem in serious need of help, if he help her now their was a very real possibility of creating a very strong and loyal minion from her. The question he had to ask himself was, does he take the chance or does he keep on looking.
"Sir, I want to let you know, that if you take me on, and traine me I will be ever so grateful, sir." Faith said as her last desperate plea. If she couldn't get this job then she would have to move back away. Which would make it harder for her husband to find her if he ever came home, but if she could get this job it would no doubt change her life.
Alex made his decision after looking into her un flinching eyes. Her eyes where screaming, Im willing to do what needs to be done. He nodded his head and got up from his desk, he walk to the door.
For a moment Faith confidence faltered, she had giving her all. Her shoulder slump, as she got up ready to leave with her tattered dignity. At least he had treated her with respect, which was more then any others had done for her this week.
Alex open the door, looking at the three men who where sitting around joking, kidding around lazily, not doing anything but waiting for a good show.
"Your all fired. Come in tomorrow to pick up your last pay check." Alex said his voice was final, total silence followed. He turn to Faith. "Be here at eigth sharp tomorrow morning, theirs alot for you to learn."
The three men jump up and protested, but Alex shot them down by simply saying that it was his company, so he get to chooses who stays and who goes. After some more yelling the three men storm out shouting that he hadn't seen the last of them.
Faith stood frozen during the hole time, she only came back after the door had slam shut on the three men. She turn to Alex and jump into his arms crying and thanking him in quick succession.
After comforting her and telling her that she had the rest of the day to figure something for her daughter. He told her she would be working officially Monday to Friday, but they would most likely to work during the weekend as well. So in light of that and since they where the only two in the office, he would instal a kids room so that she could keep an eye on her daughter.
But the up side was that she was going to get a higher pay, since she would absorb the three men salaries. Faith who just got a hold on her self, jump back into his arms and gave another stream of thank you and happy tears.
Faith in her mind swore that she would do anything for this boss as long as he held up his end of the deal.
As for Alex he got the odd sense that his decision would prove to be invaluable in the far futur.
