Chapter 1: The prince

Chapter 1: The prince

*three years later*

Prince Will Goldhill was spending time with his friends in his favorite tavern in Pelis, Egium's capital. It felt great for the prince to be away from his royal's responsabilities for a little while. He was playfully spinning his crown around his finger, his boots on the table has he was balancing his chair on its two back legs. They were talking about their sword fighting classes and other things and after a while, the big subject came on :

''Did you find the princess of your dream yet, Will?''

''Nope...I'm still looking for THE one, you know?''

''You are such a hopeless romantic!''

''I know~ But since my father told me he wouldn't force my into a marriage I wouldn't want, I take my time to find her...''

''It is not an appropriate way for a prince to sit and you better find her fast before you get too old and the King get tired of waiting for you, Sir Goldhill! ''

Will jumped on his feet, almost falling off his chair, recognising the person that just spoke behind him. Jacob Croft, his servant. The man was smaller than the prince and looked like a small bean, but he was still doing an amazing job at keeping the prince in line. Jacob was looking at him, poking at the papers in his arm with his red feather pen ''I was looking for you, you know you shouldn't come here. You have better things to do.''

''I am doing really important things actually.''

''Oh really?'' Jacob asked doubtfully ''Like what?''

''Well...'' Will looked at his friends, begging for help. One of them raised his hand.

''Actually, he was getting information to find his princess.''

''I was?... I was!''

''Yeah,I was telling him about those princesses trapped in a hidden castle in Maldock's forrest.''

''Maybe the one for me is there!'' Will shouted.'' I could be her prince in shining armor!''

''Prince Goldhill, it is only rumors''Jacob said, ''this 'castle' is almost a week away from here. You would have to go through all Egium and a good part of Bagalia's land to only get to Maldock's forrest.''

''Better get on my way then!'' Wil lanswered as he was heading for the door.

''That's not what I meant! PRINCE WILL, STOP!'' Jacob ran after the prince, holding his feathered hat to not lose it in his race.

The remaining young men all looked at each other and laughed. Will, going on a journey to find some hypothetic princesses in a castle? They all wished to be there to see that happen!

Will was in his room getting ready while his servant was trying to convince him to stop this senseless adventure. But he was too excited to be a hero, the chivalrous knight he always wanted to be! He settle on his favorite travel outfit, a white long sleeve buttoned up shirt, white pants, his red boots and a red cape white golden outlines. He also tied his favorite sword around his waist. It was a one handed sword, perfectly balanced, forged by the best blacksmith in town. It was made of damascus steel and the hilt was in noble wood. Simple, yet deadly blade for the royal young man.

''Tell my parents I will come back soon, maybe with my fiancé! Who knows!''

''Sir Goldhill, please I beg you to stay! It is too dangerous to go alone!''

''Well I won't be alone, my loyal Phantom is coming with me!''

''A horse doesn't count has...''

''Of course it counts! He is awesome! Just like me!''

Will made a last stop in the kitchen to get some food and water and headed to the stable to get his horse Phantom ready. The prince met his little brother on his way out and made a dramatic gesture saying he would be away for a couple of days to go on an adventure! The younger prince only sighed and rolled his eyes. The two brothers were definitly not alike. They did look the same physically but their personnalities were complete opposite. Will was spontanous, chivalrous and loud while his brother was reserved, calm and royal. Will always thought his brother would be a better king than him, but since he was the oldest, he had to be King...

He tried to not let those negative thoughts get in the way, he was really excited for this journey! He could finally be a hero like in the stories his mother would tell him before bed when he was a kid. Finally his time to shine!
