Chapter: End of the Line, and a New Beginning

I shook a little, feeling cold sweat running down my brow. We were at the top floor of a run down apartment building. We were here for him. The one and only Magus Killer. My squad leader gave the order to smash the door open. Hughs posted up in the front with the riot shield, and charged the door. Splinters flew everywhere, yet it was silent. A lone man sat in the middle, his back facing towards us. He turned around, and swiftly drew a Calico m950, spraying it at us. I ducked behind Hughes, and the man was shot in the head.

"Thats all? The infamous Magus Killer taken down like that?" Squad Leader Evans walked over to the body and kicked it, causing it to roll on its back. The mans trench coat splayed to the side revealing...C4.

"Oh shit! Run!" We tried to run, but only a moment later the C4 went off.

Kiritsugu POV

I pressed the trigger, and watched as a blinding explosion eeupted from the apartment complex. The supports couldn't hold, and the building started to collapse. I turned around started walking away, however someone blocked my way.

"Hello Magus Killer, it appears as though your time ends here."

'What a terrible pun' First I studied my opponent. He had red eyes, common of the apostles. He didn't appear to have qny weapons on him, though he could have some hidden, or summon one with thaumaturgy. I drew my Calico and fired with my right hand, while taking out a grenade with my left. He dodged the bullets with inhuman grace, and slowly walked towards me. I tossed the grenade in the air, drawing his attention towards it. I then threw the concealed smoke grenade on the ground, and started working on my plan.

The grenade went off just as I turned the corner, hopefully spraying him with shrapnal. Judging by his speed, he had to either be a highly competent reinforcement magus, an ancestor, or a servant. Judging by his looks, it was the second of the two. Lets see, I have the backup C4 in the car, 4 grenades and 1 smoke. I have 1 more clip for my Calico, and 22 bullets for the contender.

I sprinted towards the car, a Mustang. I slid across the hood, and hid behind a car across the street. I pulled out a sexond trigger, dor the C4 in the car. I heard his footsteps echo across the deserted street. I calculated the distance from the Mustang and waited. 5...4...3...2...1...Now!

An explosion went off, bathing the other side of the street in flames. It would most likely deal moderate damage, and stun him. I stepped out from behind the car, and too aim my Thompson Contender. An Origin bullet was loaded, as I could not afford to hold back in the slightest. He looked at me in rage, and surprise. I fired the Origin bullet, and watched as he hastily erected a barrier with thaumaturgy, just what I wanted. The bullet collided with his barrier, and I could see the panic flashing across his face. He spat out a mouthful of blood, glaring daggers in my general direction. He was swaying slightly, and blinking more pften then normal.

He jumped at me, becoming but a blur, with desperation in his eyes.. "Square Accel!" I speeded up my time, and narrowly dodged him. In less than a second, I had a normal bullet in my Thompson. I took aim and fired, blowing a large messy hole through his head. He collapsed to the groud. I tossed all 4 of my left over grenades at his corpse, and started to walk away.

My eyes widened however, as I felt a large amount of blood lust coming from behind. "Square Acc-" I never got to finish, as large clawed hands stuck out of my stomach. I pulled out my Contender, and fired through myself, puncturing through his heart. His body crumbled to ash, before blowing away in a non-existent gust of wind. I collapsed, my Contender falling out of my hand.

"I should never have turned my back. Dying for such a foolish mistake, truly regrettable." My dark black eyes slowly closed, and I was whisked off to the afterlife.

It wasn't what I expected it to be. It was an all white blank space. Nobody was around, and nothing was in sight. At least I still had my body. Suddenly, I sensed something behind me, so I cautiously turned around. Standing there was a beautiful women. She had long silver hair, failling to her waist line. Her eyes were cold silver, and her skin was a flawless pale. She wore a simple white dress which fell to her thighs. She wore a white garter belt, and had a tiara made of a white metal. On her waist was a sword, which gave off a deadly aura.

"Hello Kiritsugu, I am Thana, the Goddess of Dungeons and Death. I chose you to become my champion on the planet Orbis. A buffed version of a standard dungeon essentially. You see, I made 5 races on Orbis. The Vampires, the Dungeons, the Demons, the Phoenix, and the Dragons. As you can guess, that didn't exactly please the other gods. That is why you will be my champion. A beacon for all of my races essentially, a fort, a protector. I will change how you work, so you may support monsters, animals, and sentient races."

I quickly started talking, seeing as she was at an interval. "I am assuming that I do not have a choice in the matter then?" She shook her head negative, a playful smile on her face all the while.

"Of course not, you were considered the most ruthless, efficient, and intelligent man of your time. At the moment this world has barely evolved its technology. Its right around the bronze age. Their magic is hardly developed either. All they have is quantity, not conntrol. Its essentially whoever has the larger amount of mana wins the battle. They haven't even begun the simplest of spells. They haven't even made a 'fireball' yet." She snorted in amusement. "My races are currently allied with the humans, the elves, the angels, and the beastkin. Most of the other races are either neutral or hostile. The orcs and goblins are currently one of the strongest powers, as since the world hasn't developed its baisicqlly who has more troops. Believe me, they have plenty of that. Anyway, I will spawn you a decent distance from the orcs, and right where a large group of vampires are retreating. You're in luck, they're guarded by a Dragon and a Phoenix. Both are young, but they will obviously grow to be strong. Anyway, good luck!" She smirked and waved her hand, and a blinding light overtook my vision...
