Prologue

The night sky was portrayed as a bright day, illuminated by city lights. Decorated streets abounded with dazzling sights and cheerful crowds. Children cavorted, resembling fireflies dancing in an entrancing tapestry. Entwined hearts shared tender kisses. Restaurants were filled with romantic duos. Shopkeepers showcased their stocks. Happy music played in everyone's head, and people hummed holiday songs, making memories that last long. Love and laughter permeated the air, all within the lively expanse of Winterblossom Garden.

Bearing a tantalizing legend in its name, Winterblossom Garden, sprawled as a festal ground, twice the size of the British Museum, thick with crowds and festivities.

Amidst this lively merriment stood a mountainous tree, dwarfing all lofty buildings. The mammoth tree was surrounded by restaurants, boulangeries, mega-malls, and urban spires to the North, South, and East, with a bay glittering in the moonlight through its peaceful ripples to the West.

Despite its massive presence, reaching toward the heavens like a towering Christmas beacon, it failed to attract any attention. Garnishing it with Winterflar gems was what brought the glory it deserved, making that silent giant howl into our eyes, embellishing it into the grandeur known as 'Twinkle velli,' alluring the entire swarm—unfortunately, even thieves. It had long been an annual tradition for them to steal those gems and peddle them unlawfully, turning Christmas into a season of taking rather than giving.

Here comes Amber, a dedicated detective and workaholic—chasing criminals on Christmas Eve kind of workaholic—who prioritized her job above everything else and was determined to ensure that this thieves' tradition went extinct. Sheathed against the rebellious winter, she wore a black knit hat, a scarf woven in a deep midnight blue with a subtle herringbone pattern wrapped around her neck, a knee-length coat in a royal blend of wine and obsidian covering a dark gray sweater, a pair of knitted black gloves, tight black jeans tracing each stride, and winter shoes that left imprints on the snowy sidewalk. As she walked and chatted with her best friend, Clive Hampton, a GSPD cop, she relished the chilling event of ornamenting the Christmas beacon with Winterflar gems.

Twinkle Velli was considered the heart of WinterBlossom Street. With its sparkling Winterflar gems, it would be like a million stars clustered in the middle of this dark world, bringing the Christmas spirit to everyone. While Amber had been here and seen this jovial display many times before, safeguarding it was a new responsibility for her. She had been called upon to do so.

Here she was, cruising with Clive, patrolling this busy crowd, hoping to catch the thief who stole gems. Little did she know that the very thief she pursued was about to steal something even more precious—her heart.
