I woke up the next day to a pair of aching legs and hungry Pokemon who wanted to be fed. Feeling groggy, I stumbled out of bed and stretched my body to wake up. After stretching and yawning a bit I felt awake enough to attempt to cook something.
I made my way to the kitchen and glanced at all the other rooms while I passed, in case another trainer had decided to sleep in the cabin while I was passed out in my bed. I was hoping that no one was here and my wish seemed to be heard, as the cabin was devoid of anything except for me, Axew and Solosis.
Happy to have the cabin to myself, I went to the kitchen and made a simple breakfast of packet porridge for myself and the usual Pokefeed for Axew and Solosis. Because there was no microwave up here I had to boil some water in a pot on the stove. While I waited for the water to boil, I watched Axew and Solosis play.
Axew seemed to have made up a new game where he creeps up on Solosis to try and scare her, and was currently on all fours on a dirty looking couch near a window. Solosis was floating on the window sill and was looking outside at the slight mist that was engulfing the area around the cabin, and seemed to not notice Axew approaching her. Slowly, Axew climbed the back of the sofa with a mischievous grin on his face as he got closer to the window, and balanced on the top of the couch’s back. Just when he was about to scare Solosis, she turned around and shrieked, startling Axew so much that he loses his balance and falls down from the couch.
Solosis chuckled when she saw this and then went back to watching the mist, leaving Axew confused about how she noticed him.
I mean, she is a Psychic type after all. She must have an ability to sense other beings around her that comes with the type.
After that, Axew tried to sneak up on her several times from different angles, which at one point included climbing on the ceiling, but every time she managed to detect him.
Eventually, I finished cooking breakfast after Axew’s 5th attempt to scare her.
“Hey you two, breakfast is ready,” I called out from the kitchen to the living room.
In less time than it took to light a match Axew was in the room, looking for his portion, while Solosis calmly floated after him.
I chuckled and gave Axew his bowl of food while Solosis just floated up to hers on the counter. With both Pokemon served their breakfast I sat down and began to eat the basic porridge I had made. It was just some packaged porridge mix I had boiled in water, and the taste wasn’t the best, so I had added a few chopped pieces of fruit to make it more palatable.
We soon had finished our breakfasts, and I quickly washed up the kitchenware I had used before I went back to my room to get dressed. Once I had gotten dressed, I stripped the bed of the sheets and sleeping bag and put them back in my bag, before putting it on my back and leaving my room how it was when I first arrived: bare.
With our brief stay at the cabin finished we set off on the second day of our journey on the bypass track. By now the sun had risen enough to dispel the last of the mist, which disappointed Solosis, so I could get a clear view of our surroundings on the track.
As per usual, there wasn’t much that happened for the start of the walk, with most of the wild Pokemon being too timid to even approach us. That didn’t seem to bother Axew though, as he was once enjoying the walk along the trail. Solosis seemed comfortable with just staying next to me as I hiked, although she would float away if a pretty flower along the track caught her eye. As for me, I enjoyed the walk, and the ache in my legs had faded away pretty soon after we had started walking.
We hiked for roughly 3 hours before something incredible happened. A wild Pokemon actually blocked our pathway, and wouldn’t move unless we fought it! Axew and I were so happy to finally fight a wild Pokemon that it seemed a bit unsettled at how we were acting. The wild Pokemon was a large Karrablast that had claimed the piece of track as its territory for some reason. It had seen us from far away and had given us a warning cry. Unfortunately for it, Axew and I wanted to test our strength against the local wild Pokemon, and so Axew returned the warning with a battle cry.
When Karrablast heard this, it glared at Axew before starting to run at it. I only realised that it was using Leer to make Axew lower his guard when it got close, as it’s eyes were glowing red.
“Axew, return the Leer and use Scratch!”
Axew’s eyes lit up with a similar red glow, while his claws shined white as he ran towards the Karrablast, while the karrablast’s horn glowed a pale sky-blue. When they both got close enough, they leapt at each other, with Axew scratching with his claws and Karrablast jabbing with its horn.
What move is that? The glow isn’t white so it’s not a Normal type attack. Hmmm, it looks a bit like Flying type energy, but why would a bug type like Karrablast know a Flying type move? Wait, that’s Peck!
Karrablast proved slightly faster than Axew, and jabbed him hard in the chest. Although he was hit, Axew still managed to rake his claws along the Karrablast’s carapace, dealing some damage to it before the blue beetle retreated.
Axew was a bit winded from the initial clash, but he still did his best to stand straight and brandish his claws at the Karrablast as it circled around him, looking for an opportunity.
“Axew, take the initiative and use Assurance!” I yelled, not wanting Axew to leave himself open to an attack from Karrablast.
Axew’s hands glowed a dark brown that neared black in colour as he coated his hands in Dark Type energy. Karrablast lunged forwards at the same time, getting ready to hit him with another Peck from behind. Just as it was about to thrust its horn into his back Axew finished prepping his move and dodged to the side, punching the Karrablast in its carapace where he had scratched earlier as it flew past, dealing double damage thanks to Assurance’s effect.
Karrablast flew past Axew and landed a few metres in front of him. Axew ran to Scratch it while it was down, but it quickly rolled to the side jumped backwards, leaving Axew to attack empty air. While it was still in the air, it spat foul looking yellow glob of fluid at Axew’s face.
With how sudden the attack was, Axew couldn’t react in time to dodge. Just as it was about to hit him a pale blue glow surrounded it and tugged it sideways enough to miss Axew, landing on the ground with a sizzle instead.
Suprised, I looked down and saw that Solosis had a blue glow around her that was fading. She must have used her weak psychic powers to change the acid’s trajectory enough to miss Axew.
I guess she wanted to help us a little since we are escorting her home.
Quickly turning my head back to the battle, I quickly yelled “Bite and follow up with Scratches!”
Axew was already moving towards Karrablast even before I gave the order, and was glaring at the beetle that had almost blinded it.
Because it had been so confident that it’s attack would blind Axew, the Karrablast hadn’t led with a followup attack to the acid, and was standing in a daze as Axew charged at it.
The leading Bite caused the Karrablast to flinch, and from there it was an easy victory as Axew clawed it until it fainted from the accumulated damage.
Seeing that the fight had finished, I walked over to where Axew and the fainted Karrablast where.
“So how did you find your first wild Pokemon battle?” I asked while smiling, happy that Axew beat Karrablast with barely any injuries.
“Ax, Xew Xew XEW!” he replied, jumping up and down excitedly.
Well I shouldn't have expected a different response.
When Axew finished his little victory dance he went over to Solosis and tried said something similar before he tried to hug her. Solosis wasn’t one for physical touch, and floated out of reach from Axew’s stubby arms. Seeing that his hug was rejected put a damper on Axew’s mood, and he looked down sadly.
“It’s alright Axew, she just doesn't like being touched much. I’m sure she’s happy for you, just make sure you thank her for saving you from that acid,” I said to try and reassure my Pokemon.
Bending down, I examined the Karrablast that Axew had just fought. I had my Pokedex app open on my Xtransceiver and confirmed that it was bigger than the average Karrablast that was recorded in the app. In fact, I reckon it was about 80-90cm tall, which was nearly double it’s average height.
I wonder if it would want to join me after we just knocked it out?
I pulled an Oran berry out of my bag and squeezed some of its juice into the beetle’s mouth and waited for its breathing to get stronger, before I put the rest of the berry in its mouth.
Slowly, it chewed the berry and swallowed it. After a few more minutes passed it opened its eyes and slowly got up. It stared at me warily as I held out a second Oran berry.
“Ok, so, I know that we may seem like invaders to your territory, but this is a public path that many others will use later on. And many of them will have friends much stronger than Axew, so I want to give you a warning. Don’t attack anyone on the path unless they provoke you first,” I said as the blue beetle still stared at me.
Slowly, it reached forwards and took the second Oran berry from my hand before quickly devouring it.
While it was still eating, I decided to shoot my shot and ask it the question.
“You look like a Pokemon with lot’s of potential. I want to challenge the Gym Leaders, but I need a bigger team to do so. That’s why I’m asking you this: Would you like to join my team?”
Karrablast stopped eating and looked at me, trying to size me up.
“If you join me, you wont have to worry about being eaten, or forced out of you territory. You’ll also be able to train in a safe environment, which should definitely speed up your growth,” I added on, hoping to get the answer I wanted.
The blue beetle still seemed unsure, and after I waited a few minutes it was still silent.
Sighing, I stood up and said “It’s alright if you don’t want to join us. I’ll leave you to heal then. Just remember my warning.”
With that, we left the Karrablast behind to heal as we continued down the trail.
I put Axew in his Pokeball to recover his energy after the battle, and walked with Solosis resting on my right shoulder. We passed by several other Pokemon who ran away when they saw us, but I was glad they did so as Axew deserved a good rest.
At one point we came across a bush covered in small red flowers that Solosis seemed to adore, to the point where she picked one and stuck in in her membrane where her “ear” would be, which I thought was rather cute.
We continued walking until it was lunch time, and we found a big shaded tree to rest under.
Because I wanted Axew to rest a bit longer, I made lunch first before I let him out. For me it was some simple sandwiches I had made back at the cabin after breakfast, while Solosis and Axew got the same Pokefeed as usual.
I feel a bit guilty making them eat the same thing every meal. Wonder if there's some other stuff I could feed them to switch it up a bit.
I let Axew out of his ball once lunch was ready, and both he and Solosis seemed to enjoy they lunch more than me.
As we were eating I heard a rustling in some bushes near us. I placed my food down and silently gestured for Axew to come with me.
We silently crept up on the bush, getting ready to take whatever was watching us by surprise. When we were close enough, Axew charged into the bush, Scratch ready.
Contrary to our expectations, he simply charged out the other side, with the bush devoid of any watchers.
“I guess we’re a little tense after the fight,” I said as Axew jogged back to my side, looking disappointed to have found nothing to fight.
With that, we sat back down and finished our lunch before packing up and getting back on the trail. Every now and then we would come across more wild Pokemon, but none of them seemed to want to fight. As we walked I did a bit of research on why the Karrablast was so big on my Xtransceiver, as it had been on my mind for awhile. The reception was pretty bad so it was slow going, but eventually I found a possible answer.
In a research article I had found it talked about something called the “Giant Gene”. Apparently, some individuals in all species of Pokemon may inherit a rare gene that causes them to grow much larger than others of their species, and the variation in sizes was very large.
Since it had taken me awhile to find this paper with the pitiful reception out here, it was already late afternoon when I finally found it. Seeing that the sun was getting low in the sky, I decided that now was the time to look for a place to set up camp for the night.
Axew, Solosis and I spent about 15 minutes looking for a good place along the trail before we came across a good spot not to far from the trail and river. If was just far enough to be out of sight from the trail, and out of range of any Basculin gang wars in the river. There was also a small stream near the river that flowed into it.
I quickly pitched the tent while Axew and Solosis went around to collect firewood. Soon we had a roaring campfire going, and the sky was beginning to darken.
“Alright Axew, I need you to come with me when I get some water for the soup,” I said.
“Xew?” Axew replied, giving me a look of “why would I need to do that?”.
“Because I don’t want to get attacked by a wild Pokemon by myself, that's why” I replied, doing my best to guess what Axew had said.
Begrudgingly, the little lizard stood up and followed me as I made the short walk to the stream. Once we reached it, I bent down to collect the water into the pot, making sure to not disturb the silt at the bottom.
The water was ice cold, and from the direction it was flowing from I could guess that it was melted ice from the mountain. Eventually, the pot was filled with clear, cold water.
I lugged it back to our campsite while Axew kept watch, and put it above the campfire to boil so it can be purified and kill any nasty bacteria in it.
While I waited for the water to boil, I began cutting up the ingredients for the soup. Eventually, everything was ready, and the soup was put on to cook. While I waited for the soup to finish cooking, I sat down to read another chapter of Records of the Vale Kingdom.
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
The virtuous man, having plucked the brightest star from the mountain, returned to the Original. Seeing the bright star that the virtuous man had brought back, the Original was overjoyed, and bestowed the virtuous man with it’s Ideals.
As the Ideals of the Original descended from the sky to the virtuous man, the sky turned dark, and clouds were filled with thunder.
“Oh human,” the Ideals of the Original cried, “I am to big to fit in your heart, so you must instead allow me to create a new heart inside you, a heart of Ideals!”
“If a heart of Ideals is needed, then a heart of Ideals will be provided!” cried the virtuous man, allowing the Ideals of the Original to enter his chest and turn into a beating black heart next to his original heart.
With the bestowing of it’s Ideals complete, the Original decreed the next task.
“Go to the desert. There, I have hidden grains of Truth, which you must find if you wish to gain the power of my Truths.”
Emboldened by the power of Ideals he had received, the virtuous man set off at once to the desert. However, when he arrived, he despaired as he saw how far the sand of the desert stretched.
“If I were to truly search for the grains of Truth in a land this vast, then I shall be dead before even a tenth of it has been searched!” cried the virtuous man.
Still, virtuous man entered the desert and began his search.
After several hours of searching, the virtuous man grew tired and thirsty.
“Oh Victory Star, can you please fly up high to see if you can find some water for me to drink?” the virtuous man said.
Seeing it’s master was truly thirsty, the Victory Star immediately flew up high, enough to surpass all other stars. After looking around, it saw an oasis in the distance, and hurried back down to let the virtuous man know.
Hearing this news, the virtuous man was overjoyed, and immediately set off for the oasis. Eventually, the oasis was sighted in the distance, and the virtuous man rushed for it.
However, as soon as he grew close to it, the oasis vanished, leaving behind nothing but dry sand.
“Victory Star, why did this oasis vanish before my eyes?” the vitruous man asked.
The Victory Star was also confused before it gained an understanding and said “Oh human, while a victory can be true, it can also be false. As a result, I am unable to distinguish the two from each other, and was fooled by the desert to believe that an oasis was here.”
Despairing, the virtuous man sat down and let the Ideals of the Original out of his heart of Ideals to ask it for help.
“Oh great Ideals, what must I do to find the grains of your counterpart, Truth?” the virtuous man asked.
The Ideals of the Original looked around and laughed, for it recognised the desert it was in.
“Oh human, it is simple. This desert is filled with False grains, so to find the Truths hidden by the Falseness you must eliminate the falseness around you.”
“But how can I do that when I do not even know what is true?” the virtuous man cried out.
“That is simple: falseness troubles the heart, but Truth brings tranquillity. Use your hearts to search for a single grain of Truth, and then use that grain to eliminate the falseness surrounding the other Truths,” the Ideals of the Original said.
With that, the Ideals of the Original returned to the black heart of Ideals to rest.
With his way forwards shown, the virtuous man began searching for a grain of truth with his hearts, and eventually found one buried deep within a sand dune.
It was pure white and untainted, but burned to touch.
This did not deter the virtuous man though, as he tightly clenched the grain of Truth and used it to dispel the false grains surrounding him. From the emptiness left behind fell several more grains of Truth, which the virtuous man collected.
However, the burning sensation of the grains grew stronger with every piece he picked up, and eventually he keeled over from the pain.
Sensing the pain, the Ideals of the Original appeared again.
“Oh Ideals, why does it hurt to touch the grains of Truth? Is the Truth not something all beings crave?” the virtuous man asked.
“Human, Truth is something that has degrees of pureness. The purer a Truth, the more it hurts when it conflicts with you. Right now, your way of thinking conflicts with these grains of Truth, which causes them to burn you. To stop that, you must change your way of thinking to accommodate new Truths by understanding and accepting them. That way, your Ideals can grow with every Truth it learns of.”
Enlightened, the virtuous man sat down and slowly began to work his way through the grains, understanding each of them before expanding his mind to fit them.
Eventually, all the grains of Truth were stored in his mind, and his task in the desert was now complete.
As the virtuous man left the desert, he asked the Ideals of the Original a question.
“Oh Ideals, back when I searched for Truths I destroyed much Falseness. However, as we leave the desert I see that all the damage has been undone, and that there is even more Falseness than before!”
“That is because in the absence of Truth, False is produced endlessly,” the Ideals responded.
I decided to stop reading there as the soup was just about ready. When the soup was finished cooking I took the pot off the hook above the fire and put it on the ground to cool. After roughly 10 minutes had passed I served it into some plastic bowls I had brought with me and told Axew and Solosis to be careful as it was still pretty hot.
It was alright, but I definitely needed to work on my cooking skills some more. Axew and Solosis didn’t seem to mind it, and ate it with me. Once we had finished eating I cleaned and packed all my cooking equipment up.
Once that was done I sat down to talk with my Pokemon.
“Ok you two, tonight we’re going to take turns keeping watch since we aren’t in a cabin. I’ll take the first shift, and I’ll wake Axew up for the second one, and Solosis will take the third one. Each shift will be about 4 hours except for the last, which will be 3. Axew, before I go to sleep I’ll leave an alarm on my Xtransceiver for you so that you know when its time to switch with Solosis, just wake me up so I can release her. Does that sound alright to you two?”
Axew looked a bit annoyed at having a longer shift than Solosis but agreed to it after a few moments.
Happy that they listened to me, I wished them goodnight as I returned them to their Pokeballs, before settling down with my back facing away from the fire so that I could see a bit further into the darkness.
The four hours passed by slowly, but at some point I heard some rustling in the bushes in the direction of the track.
On my guard, I slowly passed towards the bushes with a long stick in one hand and Axew’s Pokeball in the other, and lifted some of their branches, but in the end I found nothing.
Must have been the wind.
Soon afterwards, my shift came to an end, and I swapped with Axew. After I set an alarm on my Xtransceiver for him, I went into my tent and fell asleep quickly.
Later in the night, I felt Axew poke me awake, and after a few moments I heard the alarm I had set was going off. I quickly returned him before sending out Solosis and wished her good luck before I went back to sleep.
Afterwards, a second alarm I had set woke me up in the morning, right as Solosis’ shift finished.
After I gave everyone breakfast I returned Solosis to let her have a nap before I packed up my tent and poured a bucket of river sand on the embers left behind from the fire.
With that, Axew and I left our ex-campsite and continued walking the trail.
I saw Axew yawn a little, and felt the urge to yawn with him as a result.
“Well, we can catch up on our sleep when we reach the next cabin today. It’s closer than the last one, so we should make it there a little after lunch today,” I said.
Axew simply nodded in response as we continued our walk along the trail.
Nothing unusual happened today, and by lunchtime we were nearly there. I let Solosis out of her ball to eat, and made us a quick lunch before we kept walking.
Finally, after another 2 hours had passed, we made it to the second cabin.
Once we reached the door I saw that the lights were on.
Looks like we might be sharing the cabin this time.
Not wanting to startle whoever was inside with Axew and Solosis, I returned them to their Pokeballs before I opened the door to walk in. The moment the door opened I was greeted by a Flaaffy staring me down from the hallway. We both froze for a moment before the Flaaffy began to bleat loudly.
Immediately, I heard some footsteps from where I thought the kitchen was, and a young man rounded the corner.
His thick black hair was short, and his eyes and skin were both a deep brown. His clothes was a hiking outfit similar to mine, but instead of blues and greens like me he had yellows and browns.
Realising that we had both been staring at each other for awhile I quickly introduced myself.
“Hi, I’m Charlie. Are you this Flaaffy’s trainer?”
“Oh, uh, hi. I’m Eric, and I guess you just met Flaaffy. She’s the only one of my team out, but I can introduce you to the others later. Are you planning to stay in the cabin by any chance?” Eric replied.
“Yeah, just for tonight. I’m heading for Driftveil and was hoping to catch a Grass type on Route 6 beforehand,” I said.
Eric nodded and said “Alright then. Apart from room 1 the others are free, so take your pick.”
I thanked him and walked inside, making sure to clean my hiking shoes on the mat.
I decided to choose room 2, and put my stuff in there and let Axew and Solosis out of their balls.
“Ok guys, the person here seems like a nice enough guy, so I’ll introduce you to him after I’ve made the bed and he’s finished cooking. Is that alright?”
Both of them nodded (or in Solosis’ case tipped her body forwards and backwards) and found somewhere to wait while I made the bed. Once that was done, I took my shoes off and left my room with Axew and Solosis.
Flaaffy was in the living room with her trainer when we walked out, and looked at Axew and Solosis curiously before walking over to them.
Axew run over to greet Flaaffy, and they both had a short conversation. Solosis wasn’t too interested in meeting Flaaffy, but still introduced herself to be polite.
Eric, however, looked a bit shocked when he saw Axew.
“Eric, this is Axew, my partner, and Solosis, a Pokemon I’ve been entrusted with to escort back to her home,” I said.
“Man, I was not expecting you to have a Dragon type of all things,” Eric said, having calmed himself enough to respond.
Everyone I meet seems to say that.
“Well, I was just a bit lucky, that's all,” I replied, sitting down in one of the couches. Solosis floated over to me and landed on the back of the couch, before looking out the window like last time.
Eric chuckled a bit before he grabbed a Pokeball from his belt.
“Well, since you’ve shown me your team I’ll have to show rest of mine,” he said, opening the Pokeball and letting out a Comfey.
“This is Comfey. She’s a gift I got from a friend in my home region before I moved to Unova.”
The Comfey yawned when she first came out, but perked up when she saw two new Pokemon and floated over to meet them. She first greeted Solosis, who was actually sociable for once and seemed happy to have met a Pokemon who wasn’t as hyper as Axew.
When she went to greet Axew he grabbed her hands and shook them a little too hard, making the poor Comfey bounce up and down a few times before he stopped.
Comfey still managed to be polite, but after she finished meeting Axew she floated over to Solosis and started chatting with her.
“Sorry about Axew, he gets a little too excited whenever there's a new Pokemon to meet,” I said, apologising for Axew’s behaviour.
Eric laughed and said “Don’t worry about, Comfey’s pretty light so I’m not surprised that happened.”
I watched Comfey talk to Solosis for a few moments before asking “I don’t remember Comfey being native to Unova. Did you used to live in Alola?”
Hearing this, Eric smiled and said “Yep, I used to live on Akala Island. Got Flaaffy there as well, but she was just a Mareep back then. But I moved to Driftveil with my parents when I was a teenager, so I’m taking the Gym challenge here. Although I might go back to Alola to try the Island Challenge if I do well enough.”
“Oh, your doing the Gym challenge as well?” I asked, curious to see how well Eric was doing.
“Yep. I left a few days before League season started so I could get through Route 6 quickly. I want to fight Skyla first since Flaaffy would be perfect to deal with her, and Clay is a perfect counter to Flaaffy, so I’m skipping him for now until Comfey is strong enough to fight his Ground types. How about you?”
“I started in Mistralton, but Axew didn’t have any ranged attacks, so fighting Skyla would be nearly guaranteed to fail. Thats why I’m heading for Clay first, since at least we’ll be able to hit something there.”
Eric laughed when he heard that, and said “Looks like we both should have swapped our starting points then. Would have saved both of us plenty of time.”
I smiled at his joke and chuckled a little too.
We continued talking about what our plans for the League were until it was dark, and we both got to making dinner for ourselves and our teams.
As we both cooked our own dishes I told Eric about the giant Karrablast I saw the other day.
“So you’re telling me that you actually saw a real giant Pokemon? Those are insanely rare!” Eric said after I told him about it.
“Yeah, it’s just a pity that it didn’t want to join my team. It was the only wild Pokemon that actually fought Axew and I, unless you count getting caught in the middle of a Basculin gang war,” I said.
“Well I guess some things aren’t meant to be. Now, whats this about a Basculin gang war?” Eric said as he chopped something up.
We continued cooking as I told him about the Basculin fight we got caught up in, and by the time I finished telling him the full story we had both finished dinner.
Both our teams enjoyed the food we made, as did we. Soon we had all finished our dinner and were getting ready for bed.
When I was in the middle cleaning my teeth I heard Eric yell something from the living room.
I quickly spat out the toothpaste foam in my mouth went to see why I was called.
“Hey, did you need me?”
“Yeah, something banged on the door but when I opened it nothing was there. I think a wild Pokemon might be trying to get in, so we might have to scare it off,” Eric said.
Oh Arceus it better not be a Ghost type. Especially at this time of night.
“W-Well, guess we better start looking for it,” I said, trying my best to stay calm.
Just as we were getting our shoes on to look outside we heard a thudding sound coming from another room.
We both glanced at each other before slowly standing up and quietly walking towards the room, with both our teams following us.
The sounds were coming from room 3, and we both prepared ourselves as I slowly opened the door to the room. It was dark inside, and we couldn't see anything inside the room, but I could make out a dark shape outside the window, causing a cold shiver to go down my spine.
“Charlie, get ready to turn the light on so we can take it by surprise,” Eric whispered to me.
Personally, I was terrified about what I would see when I turned on the light, and had trouble moving myself. At that moment, the moral from the Records of the Vale Kingdom chapter I had read flashed through my mind.
“To see Truth you must eliminate Falseness.”
Well, guess I have to remove the ‘Falseness’ of the darkness to see whatever that thing outside is.
Slightly calmed, I slowly reached for the light switch, my hand still trembling a little as I touched the switch and got ready to turn it on.
Please don’t be a Ghost type Please don’t be a Ghost type Please don’t be a Ghost type
“Ready?” I whispered to Eric.
“Ready!” Eric whispered back.
3...2...1…
With that I flicked the light switch on, my gaze resting on the shape behind the window.
Both our teams, Eric and I yelled as we saw a giant Karrablast with its face pushed against the window, fogging it up as it breathed and stared at us.
“Wait. Are you the Karrablast from yesterday?” I said once I had recovered from the shock.
The Karrablast pulled back from the windows and nodded when it heard my question, still staring at me without blinking.
“Do you want to come inside?” I asked it, still confused about why it was here.
Karrablast nodded again, so I went to the window and opened it, allowing Karrablast to begin crawling through.
Eric had recovered from the shock of seeing Karrablast by now, and was watching us curiously.
“Is this that giant Karrablast you told me about earlier?” he asked me.
“I think so, but I’m not sure why it’s here. It’s territory is pretty far away,” I replied.
By now Karrablast had finally crawled through the window and was on the standing next to me, looking up at me.
Suddenly, it clicked.
“Wait, have you been following us this whole time? Where you the source of those rustling bushes I kept hearing?” I asked Karrablast.
Karrablast nodded.
“Then, does that mean you want to join my team?” I said, starting to get excited.
Karrablast nodded.
A big smile broke out on my face as I ran back to my room to grab a spare Pokeball.
When I got back, Karrablast was waiting.
I knelt down to it and said “So you ready to join th-” before I got cut off immediately as it headbutted the Pokeball, causing it to open and begin the capture process.
After it wiggled a few times, the Pokeball made a soft ding sound indicating that the capture was a success.
“Well, congrats on catching a giant Karrablast Charlie. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go sleep now,” Eric said as he left the room.
